Guys, we all are extremely saddened by Rana's unfortunate death, so I thought I would post this here to cheer everyone up a bit.

<table bgcolor="#eeeeee" border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0" width="603"><tbody><tr valign="top"><td align="right" width="30">29.6</td> <td width="100%">van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" width="30">29.5</td> <td width="100%">van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" width="30">29.4</td> <td width="100%">van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Wah Wah! Low full toss and guess where this went Yep. A slap slog and it went over deep midwicket! Flatter one this time but it makes no difference to Gibbs. He just stands there and delivers. This one also has been sucked over long off </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" width="30">29.2</td> <td width="100%">van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Murder! Floated on the leg and middle stump line and Gibbs sends it soaring over long-off. </td> </tr> <tr valign="top"> <td align="right" width="30">29.1</td> <td width="100%">van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX, Violence! Gibbs charged down the track and hoicked it over long on.</td></tr></tbody></table>

This is unbelievable moment and first time in the history of ODI cricket.

29.6 van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX!!, that is the 6th one, Gibbs is simply enjoying this ride and in these flourish of sixes it seems all have forgotten that Gibbs has scored his FIFTY!!, flighted delivery outside off, Gibbs comes down the track and hits it high over long off
29.5 van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX!!, it is something unseen and never though off, another six and it seems records are to be written today, short of length delivery outside off, Gibbs goes on the backfoot and lofts it over between extra cover and long off
29.4 van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX!!, now that is the fourth one, is it going to be a record, flighted delivery on the stumps, Gibbs comes down the track and lofts it high and high over deep mid wicket
29.3 van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX!!, flighted delivery outside off, Gibbs comes down the track and lofts it again over long off, that is 3 sixes on a trot
29.2 van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX!!, flighted delivery outside the off stump, Gibbs comes down the track and lofts it hard and high over long off
29.1 van Bunge to Gibbs, SIX!!, flighted delivery on the stumps, Gibbs comes down the track and lofts it over deep mid wicket, it seems the ball is out of the ground

yeah i was pretty depressed and had the cricinfo scorecard tab opened on my browser. all of a sudden, the score started jumping up like crazy, and i switched tabs. he was on three sixes at that time, and i still can't believe he's done it!

aftab/tamim will either get stumped or give a catch most likely trying to do same as Gibbs.

I'm glad it didn't happen to us. Sure our bowling is much better, but such humiliation could have happened to us in our early days. I feel a tad sorry for Netherlands, poor oranges.

AsifTheManRahman
March 16, 2007, 01:16 PM
looks like they will get to 300, or maybe even beyond. i wish this was a 50 over match - we would probably have seen another 400+ inning.

SA is wiping the floor with Netherlands. 400+ is imminent!

This is what happens when you have too many substandard teams playing in world cup- records just pile on.

Boucher just broke the record for fastest fifty in world cup, 51 runs in 21 balls.

All the world Records are raining against Holland -

1. 6 sixer in an over
2. Fastest 50 in WC (Boucher in 21 balls, previous in 22 balls)
3. Most number of sixes in a WC match (total 15 so far, previous 14)
4. Most numbers of sixes in a ODI (18 six)
5. 175 in last 11 overs
6. Highest run rate in an ODI ever played for more than 40 overs (8.85 an over).

...and the 15th sixth of the innings creates yet another WC record for most 6s in an innings (in a match, rather?)

Dammit! No wonder they're in such a hurry.

AsifTheManRahman
March 16, 2007, 01:39 PM
they've past the 8 RPO mark. this is as good as a 400 in a 50 over match.

TheWatcher

Holland is just lucky that this is a forty over match, otherwise, who knows how many more records would have been broken today.

At the end- 18 sixes.

Mahir
March 16, 2007, 01:42 PM
another record ? 2 overs yeilding 30 runs or more in a single innings ? I think its not criminal to assume that the 500 run-barrier would've been broken today...had it been a 50 over match. That's what has been in discussions lately, no? !!

AsifTheManRahman
March 16, 2007, 01:43 PM
353/3 off 40, RPO - 8.82. end of inning.

The dutch have nothing to lose, so let's hope they come out all guns blazing, and score at least at 6 RPO. even better, let's hope they win! :D

It could easily be 500 if the game was a 50 overs affair. Also remember, SA scored only 4 in their first 5 overs.

I think another record is waiting to be broken- the biggest margin of defeat (in terms of runs) in a world cup match. Current record is 256 runs in Aus vs Namibia match.

sislam2

We would have probably seen 500 runs if it was a 50 over game. Could have been another record, well 8.82 is still one.

Acutally this is the most number of sixes in one innigns. Most Number of sixes is past 21 not sure exactly in AUS vs SA

considering they hammered 90 is last 5 overs, the game would have been well over 500 in a 50 over match.
