if young tigers can display the maturity of their bating and play according to the nature of the game then I believe we have good chance. Hope they don't come into rush shots before making proper judgment of the bowler and his delivery, they should also remember that they are playing for their country not to a personal displaying...

Inshallah Bangladesh will win. I am just not happy with the line up. Dont think Aftab is the right person to come at No: 3 especially since we keep losing a wicket early. Promote Saqib/Ashraful if Tamim gets off cheaply which might just be the case unless he is having one of his days. Saqib comes at No: 4 and with Aftab and Tamim going early it doesnt make a difference if he comes at 3 or 4. Or try Ash at 3. The world cup might not be a place for experimenting, but then we have achieved what we have set out for, now lets treat these games to find a solution for the future (not that we should lose them). Mushfiq might also be promoted but Ash looks in good touch and he is more experienced. Best of Luck Bangladesh.

Not expecting a lot but definitely expecting a decent performance.

"He (Tamim) should pick the right bals to hit. We all know how talented he is and he was given a free license to go out there and enjoy his cricket. But I will sit with him tomorrow and will try to make him understand that at this level you can't belt the ball always," said Bashar.

bashar said it to tigercricket... ekta kotha bujhina.... tamim to matro koyekdin dhore kheltese.. or temon experience nai... but Nafees ke niye kisu bole nai keno? shei to ei 4ta match e 10 er upore run kortei pareni.. plus or to onek experience...

is he afraid to talk abt nafees.. as hes a cousin of the chief selector? kichui bujhina....

Insha Allah BD will fight hard and win us the match. I dont want NZ to be in Semis. Also pray for a 50 over match. Win the toss, bat first and chase 240 runs and win by 3 wks Insha Allah!

I would like to see a 50 over match, I am tired of these 25over matches..

Inshallah we will see a turn around in this match, also Shahdat would be a better option than Taposh.. Well I have a feeling they are just going to go with Syed Russel.

Bangladesh needs to hire a full time fielding coach as good fielding can change a side drastically. Best examples are Sri Lanka and South Africa. BD Cricket Board is earning a lot of money now and it needs to be used wisely.

Hiring a coach is not the issue. The problem is our ingrained culture. Seniority etc. It is obvious that Bashar does not do much fielding practice or for that matter running between the wickets.

THe ground fielding of the younger bunch is actually quite OK.

I do not have high expectation from this match beside having a better performance than the Australia game. However, I would want them to beat both of England and WI and end up with 6 points in super 8.

Nothing will happen and we will face another thrashing defeat...BD's batsmen can't score more than 40 runs..top order is extremely fragile and only two batsmen in middle so far scoring runs not even reaching 50...Mashrafee won't be there always to score 30 runs..
I have no clue what to do with our bowlers as we have too many SLA and NZ already know about it..Their team is very balanced and we will loose this match badly just because of our batsmen and a good thrid seamer/thrid spinner.

Say NO to Javed Omor!!!!!!!

Please no more JO. We had enough of him. We don't need any batsman who eats loads of ball and waste all the opportunities. I rather pick SN. You guys are really impatient, only few matches and you have gone mad.

Give him some time, I know he didn't do well but he was one of the leading run scorer in 2006.

Why JO???? Oh my God...this can't be happening!!!

ST. JOHN’S: Opening batsman Shahriar Nafees Ahmed was left out due to poor form as Bangladesh named 12 for tomorrow’s Super Eight match against New Zealand.

Nafees, who is going through a lean patch, has had a sequence of 2,0,12 and 1 in four matches in the World Cup. The Tigers have drafted in opener Javed Omer and fast bowler Shahadat Hossain Rajib in the 12. Javed is set to play his first World Cup game.

Paceman Tapash Baishya, who had sprained his ankle during the match against Australia on Saturday, did not practice on Sunday but team physio Paul Close was confident that Baishya would recover soon.

“We have received the X-ray report and it has confirmed that there was no fracture. He will undergo an aggressive rehabilitation programme and our target is to get him fit before the match against South Africa,” said Close. Syed Rasel, the left-arm paceman comes in for Baishya. Bangladesh meet South Africa in their third fixture of the Super Eight stage in Guyana on April 7.

Bangladesh’s training plans had to be rearranged for the second time in three days after the Tigers were told that the practice wickets at the Sir Vivian Richards Ground were not fit for use.

The Bangladesh team had already reached the venue and had just started their warm-ups when a grounds staff informed them about the practice pitches adjacent to the ground being ‘wet’. It came as a surprise as there was no rain yesterday and today.

The Tigers then traveled to the alternative facility, the Antigua Recreation Ground, and trained there.

Still smarting from the 10-wicket loss to Australia, Tigers captain Habibul Bashar said there were areas which needed to improve.

“Obviously the opening batting is one. The loss to Australia was disappointing in the sense that we could have done better. We don’t play that many 20-20 games and it was basically a similar match,” said Bashar.

Bashar believed his side can be competitive against New Zealand.

“They are well ahead of us in world ranking and are a big team. If you ask about the prospects then New Zealand are odds on favourites. However, one-day cricket doesn’t necessarily follow that norm. If we can play to our potential then I don’t see any reason why we can not push that opposition. We have already proved that in the warm-up game against them where they played nine batsmen and still lost to us,” said Bashar.

BANGLADESH (12): Habibul Bashar (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Javed Omer, Aftab Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Ashraful, Mushfiqur Rahim (Wicketkeeper), Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mohammed Rafique, Abdur Razzak, Syed Rasel, Shahadat Hossain Rajib.

why jo i dont understand, they should have stayed with nafees, we need to persist with our player, we have a good combination of players, playing in the correct and appropriate positions, and they should be persisted with, look at the aussies, hussey is not performing yet they still play him and there are countless examples of this in other teams.

it was a good decision to bring back JO.. we gonna have a decent partnership even it comes on slow strike rate.. but still it will be good.. in the last 4 matches... we didnt see any opening partnership at all.. and both departed before 5th/6th over..except the inda match... One of them have to be there till the 15th over..atleast. then the middle order willl not be under pressure and will be performing better...

nafees ke rest korano te or jonnei valo hoyese... joto mistake korse.. shob thik korte parbe.. and then will be back for the SA game....

I'm on fire but Bangladesh are hot - Fleming
Stephen Fleming is wary of the threat posed by Bangladesh but confident his team can handle all challenges as they continue their assault on the ninth Cricket World Cup.

Now rated one of the most likely sides to push through to at least the semifinals, New Zealand suffered an upset loss in a 13-a-side warm-up game against Bangladesh, and are on full alert to avoid a repeat performance in tomorrow's Super Eight contest at the Sir Vivian Richards Oval.
A win against Bangladesh and another expected triumph against Ireland a week later in Guyana would leave Fleming's side on eight points and within touching distance of clinching a semifinals place for the fifth time.............

Bangladesh needs to hire a full time fielding coach as good fielding can change a side drastically. Best examples are Sri Lanka and South Africa. BD Cricket Board is earning a lot of money now and it needs to be used wisely.

we not need only a fielding coach but a bowling coach as well. Look at the AUS, SAF bowlers are bowling, mixing up the slower delivery cleverly and not allowing batsman to score.Wasim Akram or Waqar younus will be the best choice and luckily Waqar is free now a day's.

Javed Omar, Habibul bashar....okay now we have a SUPERB team ! 2 batsmen who smack like theres no tomorrow (Tamim, Aftab) and two batsmen (JO and Habibul) bat like they have tomorrow also to bat. That leaves Saqibul/ Ashraful who make an attempt to play according to the situation. Ash isnt consistent but seems to be peaking at the right time. These batsmen read to take on Bond, Oram, Vettori... YES because thats how Bangladesh have been playing...inconsistent and unpredictable. Being a Bangladeshi fan I have nothing else to do except watch and pray for my team. Heck missing my tuitions for todays match and have exams coming up...Go on Tigers.

In all honesty, the Bangladesh team has flattered to deceive in this world cup. They played with revitalized vigor in the first game, which literally brought the tournament to life. But thereafter the two heavy defeats have just emphasized the gulf in class between us. Defeat against two of the strongest teams in the tournament is no shame, but surrending without even showing the stomach for a fight is quite unacceptable.

This team is better than what they showed against Srilanka and Australia. I am just waiting and hoping to see that enthusiasm, that spirit, and that belief in the field, which allowed us to conquer India.

Its not a bad toss to lose actually. There is no extravagent swing off the pitch so far, and our openers are doing just the right thing! Don't give up ur dream, wait till the last ball of the game is bowled. We have bowlers who can defend anything above 250.

BLOCKING AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYY ... I think it's time we start learning to get the ones and twos. Rotate the strike. NZ is bowling well but nothing that we can't handle. However, the last 3 overs were spent either blocking or letitng the ball go. We should have score a few ones and twos. Oh well, another four. Edged but fell short of the fielder there ...

We should play this game with shorter, smaller targets in mind that are easy to reach and don't put too much pressure on the players. Like not expect the batmen to score 300, but instead score 40 runs off 10 overs with no loss, around 100 off 20 for 1 or no loss, 140 for 30 for 2 or 3... around 200 for 40 with 3 or 4,.. and accelarate in the last 10 overs. If we can't get 10 runs now, we can make up for it later, just keep wickets intact.

Longest Surviving Opening Stand for Bangladesh in the Wold Cup.
7 Over 18 Runs
Run Rate wise not that either...if we can keep wicket on hand, we have the firepower to take advantage in the later overs.

Vs. India: 4.2 Over 24 runs
Vs. Sri Lanka 0.5 Over 1 run
Vs. Bermuda 1.1 Over 6 runs
Vs. Australia 2.4 Over 4 runs

they only way they can long last is by getting comfortable to play strokes which they are not doing even after 10 overs. If they are so scared to go towards the line of the ball and push the ball down the ground, what can I say they lack confidence and skills to be a world class batsmen.

Looks like the players were told to slow down after the Australia match. We went (or tried to) go after the Australian bowlers thinking 22 overs actually meant 10 overs. Looks like they were told to give us a start without losing any wickets and JO is perfect for this. The only drawback is not getting the runs. This is how I see it, once you get your eyes set and once you get to take the pressure off in the first few overs, the runs should come.

With 10 overs gone, it's time to atleast make the ones and twos happen. JO just went for a rash shot that didn't connect. That's not how you get runs, that's how you gt out. Bouncer on the next delivery. :)
