damn it. shahriar is not selected against SA

Is it official? Also I hate the weather in WI, every match of Banglaesh is being curtailed.. sucks.

I kinda already lost interest about this game knowing JO will open. I'm thinking about following the game after he gets out when BD bats. Watching him play is so much pain that I can't bear it.

April 6, 2007, 03:38 PM
I agree with u Rubu bhai watching JO play is soo boring!!!I remember the last asia cup match when we were facing Pak he had 53 runs in about 80 balls!!!

Wow lovely weather, thunderstorm. :)

April 6, 2007, 04:12 PM
I think JO was put in the top to slow and stead the young batsman. We need more runs on the board. If you haven't notice, we have been consistently getting out before 50 overs. So, why not put JO there, at least he will get some runs in the process.

Another though. May be he should have replaced Basher, and let Nafee's be the capt.

JO opening, bad weather looming.. worst possible way to start the game..Why not have Rajin open the innings instead of Javed?

I expect Banglaesh to score 155 batting first and SA chasing it in 30 overs with 9 wickets in hand. If we field first, SA will score around 320, we will be allout for 170ish.

And if the weather goes bad and we end up playing 20-20 again. then BD will score 105 and SA will chase that in 14-15 overs. The match is so predictable! Atleast against NZ I had some hope, but this is gonna be plain brutal.

Anyhow, as a BD fan hopefully the players will prove me wrong and I will have to eat my own words :)

JO batting in what could be a rain-curtailed match - good thinking.

does the management even talk to JO after he gets out on 20, wasting 10 overs? or khela dekhe to mone hoy na...or is he as good as any other in implementation?

Mushfiq could have easily been given the role JO played againt NZ...no need to change the strategy...here's what i would have loved to see:
Tamim Mushfiq Aftab Sakib Nafees Ashraful Bashar Reza (8 batsmen!!!) Mashrafe Rafiq Shahadat
I know it's a risk incase Shahadat or Reza can't finish their quota...but we basically have 10 batsmen and with a steady start like monday's..we should be easily able to reach 250. what do u guys think?

Yes we might be able to reach 250 but SA will end up scoring 500 if they bat first. Who would bowl in this line up? Three bowlers and sakib that makes four bowlers. SA would destroy the fifth bolwer whoever it is.

Why on earth is JO picked ahead Nafees? Shahriar Nafees is a world class batsmen. Rajib must also play ahead of Rasel. Rasel's lack of pace is embarassing to us.

Hatebreed
April 6, 2007, 08:42 PM
Apprearantly Nafees has agreed to taking a break in light of his recent poor form. So if he's not shown the willingness to play and prove himself, there's not much we can do.

The one issue that has divided the media and fans alike is the jettisoning of Shahriar Nafees, the exciting opening batsman who is also vice captain. Some publicly queried why Bashar hadn't dropped himself, and he fended off the question with a smile when asked about it. "If you don't do well, criticism will be there," he said with reference to his own form. "As for Nafees, he needed a break. He's not in the best of form."
Nafees is not part of the 12 to take on South Africa either, and Bashar revealed that the decision was taken only after talking to the batsman himself. "We had a word with him, and he thinks the break will help him."

I dont understand the fuss about golla. He is just the fans' favourite punching bag it seems. Yes the guy is sedate in most of his knocks. BUt in the last match the middle order failed us not golla. He and tamim actually gave us a solid start. I would have liked tamim to play a bit more natural albeit watchful but golla is there to see off the new ball if we bat first because we have seen that team bowling first gets help from the pitch. Moreover we ended up losing too many wickets too quick in the other matches so golla is best suited in this scenario for the time being. However I would like to see Sn back in the team ASAP in golla's place.

Rajin is not as painful as Golla. Rajin has got a century in ODI's against Kenya atleast but Golla can never do that. He is a slow guy.
Rajin can take singles which Golla cant and Rajin can play short pitched deliveries which Golla cant.
Rajin played some ODI's good but Golla was always bad in ODI's.
Golla always wasted balls.

Whatever The Team, We Have Both Positive and Negative Side for Each Player. Masrafe is in Form and His Technical Purity is 3/4 Times Better than Others. But He also have to Bowl More Quick. In India Match He Bowled 85-89 Constantly. He got Success. Later on I Never Saw His That Pace.

Pace is not Important. Maintain Line-Length is The Most Important Thing. But You Need to Have a Minimum Pace. He is Bowling 75-82 Maximum. He doesn't have to Bowl Over 90. But He Atleast Should Have a Pace of 85+ Constantly.

Finally, GOOD LUCK Bangladesh.

After getting thrashed by Australia and New Zealand in first tow matches of the super eights, Bangladesh is facing top ranked South Africa at Providence Stadium in Guyana today. Pressure has mounted on Bangladesh to justify their inclusion in the super eights stage after two consecutive below par performances.

After reaching super eights by toppling India, Bangladesh thought that they will win few more matches in the super 8 stage but things are not going as planned.

3.6 Ntini to Tamim Iqbal, no run, Another wild swing. Another miss. It was full and outside off, Tamim tried to drill it through cover.
3.5 Ntini to Tamim Iqbal, no run, beaten. Rushes through the zone, just outside off, Tamim plays at it, inside the line and the ball teases the outside edge.
3.4 Ntini to Tamim Iqbal, no run, swing and a miss. Again Tamim got itchy seeing the width- it was full and well outside off, but he doesn't move his feet towards the line. Misses.
3.3 Ntini to Tamim Iqbal, no run, whooshes through the off stump line, left alone
3.2 Ntini to Tamim Iqbal, no run, squared-up. Landed outside leg, moved in, Tamim pushes at it, edges it to the off side.
3.1 Ntini to Tamim Iqbal, no run, almost chopped on. Full in length, lands outside leg stump, moves across Tamim who tries to play it with soft hands. Too soft and the ball almost rolls back on to the off stump

this guy is gonna b out soon...if he doesn't..id b surprised!!

This is one of those teams who don't know how to take singles...otherwise they would have realized what other good teams are doing we are way behind than them.
Aussies and other top teams convert singles to twos nowadays...and we can't even learn how to take singles.
