One thing must be restored in the WI match: Fielding!

If BD can get back to the fielding standard shown against SA/IND or even England, we have fair chance to pull another victory over WI. Otherwise, we are doomed!

It is an open secret that I have been vocal about the ouster of Dav Whatmore along with Habibul Bashar. My argument is very simple- it is a matter of statistics that the more you play ODIs the better your chances of winning a game or two here and there. I have been vocal about the ouster of Dav Whatmore as I have stated that he does not posess the quality of taking us to the next level. It is my conjecture that had Mr. Gordon Greenidge been our coach all these time, we would have had the same result with respect to the number of wins. Some may argue, arguably for self-esteem reasons, that the tigers delivered what they had promised, a berth in Super-8. To me, the performance of <ST1:pBangladesh</ST1:p- bid 300% more than the actual price and then deliver. The supposedly dumb citizens think of it as an achievement, when in reality our taxes are siphoned to the tender completing country. On the same note, I also think that Habibul Bashar is the worst possible cricket player in the history of the game. He has only one shot in his arsenal and the only thing that is consistent about his playing is that he gets out most of the time playing the same pull shot; Arguably my 4 year old can figure out the field placement when Mr. Bashar is on the crease, unless he is in his regular idiotic demeanor and gets out running between the wicket, trying to think about everything but the situation at hand - giving justice to his popular nichname Habla, a variance of his name given at birth. No wonder, I consider him to be “Hajar Bochorer Shrestho Habla.” (Copyright, Azim Fahmi 2007). This is a critical time for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/ /><st1:country-region w:st=Bangladesh</ST1http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/ /><st1:country-region w:st=Bangladesh</st1:country-region> team paralles that of floating of International Tenders in <st1:country-region w:st=" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pBangladesh </ST1:p</st1:country-region>cricket and it is time for Habibul Bashar to go!

We have a tendency to forget everything when we turn out to be a giant killer on a given day. But that is not the attribute of a consistent winner. According to economist Lester Thurow of MIT Fortune favors the bold. Historically we have been bold when our back had been against the wall, whether in politics or in sports. However, that strategy has “wastage” written all over it, whether in politics or in sports. We need to make sure we are proactive in our process, otherwise the dimmer of hope will get buried in Bangladeshi cynicism . We should have known what Dav Whatmore would do if we pull one odd win here and there. He has done it in the past and we ended up doubling our salary. He tried to apply the same strategy with <st1:country-region w:st="on">Sri Lanka</st1:country-region>, he failed as <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pSri Lanka </ST1:p</st1:country-region>let him go. <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pSri Lanka</ST1:p</st1:country-region> has talent but they also nurture them. Dav Whatmore takes talent and ruins them. This is a critical time for <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pBangladesh </st1:country-region>cricket and it is time for Dav Whatmore to go. It is time for Habibul Bashar to go as well. He is not fit to be even the 12th man for Bangladesh National Team.

On a side note.. RAMDIN is the worst wicket keeper/batsman ive ever seen.. He's like a rotten dead fish behind the wicket.. its like his mouth is SEALED..never tries to encourage the bowlers/fielders..every other wicket keeper does that!!.. and i dont need to mention Ramdin's batting tactics anyway, he ess you cee ke ess.. Someone asked about the Pitch.

The pitch is secured firmly to the ground by Earth's gravity by a force of 600 kN. There's dust on the pitch.
It's solid.
It will suit only the Umpires.

Habibul Bashar should first pratice to win tosses,he has lost the last 3 tosses.

winning the toss means winning 50% of the match and it isnt up to luck to win a toss.

Studies have shown that the coin always falls the same side up , by which it was being thrown.
This means today if Brian Lara throws the coin with the tail's side up then hablu should call for tails, and if brian throws with heads side up the hablu should call for heads.
This works almost 90% of the times,you can try this at home, so the toss actually isnt up to luck.

But anyways if hablu then brian lara will get to call so we cant do anything then except if hablu tries to throw the coin without letting brian see which side is facing up! :D

someone get this message to Habibul Bashar! :-|

Something I want to point out. England for the past 2-3 games have kept their team unchanged. they played games against BAN and IRL why would they keep it unchanged where as us Bangladeshis keep on changing our team that had won against South Africa and was for a moment in charge against NZ. The game against ENG and IRL was key for us to be with elites or may be a chance to play in the semifinal. What I am trying to emphasis is that Shahriar Nafees lost his place in the team since the game vs.. aus. He is "lost in Caribbean" and surely needs to play the domestic games to get back his confidence. I also feel that javed omar been insulted by the team selection after the ideal starts he has given us and also keeping tamim under control. I hope that shariar's inclusion is based on getting back his confident and not because of "mama-bhagne" relationship. This wont be good for the game that bangladeshis love. I hope BAN team to look like the following:
( ideally 9 batsmen and 6 bowlers)

1. Tamim
2. Mushfiqur
3. Ashraful
4. Shakib spin
5. Aftab
6. Habibul
7. Farhad medium pace
8. Mashrafe fast pace
9. Rafique spin
10.Razzak spin
11. Rasel medium swing
feel free to pass your comments and forward this topic to cricket lovers

why did they bring javed back. rajin and forhad could have been given a chance.

bcos they are in the if-else conditional block:

while(selector == Faruq){
if(SN_failure > 4){
bring JO;
} else {
another chance;
SN_failure++;
}
assert (!Rajin);
assert (!FR);
assert (!pilot);

Hi and welcome to West Indies v Bangladesh. I am Sriram Veera and I shall be bringing you all the live action today.

As they say ... nothing but pride to play for. A dismal campaign for West Indies while it has been a schizoprehenic one for Bangladesh. They have been inconsistent so far. At times it has been magical - Tamim Iqbal charging down the track like a marauder at Zaheer Khan, Ashraful playing those cheeky lap shots, but it has been interspersed with some average stuff. Bashar, the captain, has been pretty quiet with the bat. Bangladesh fans have been baying for his head. Check the site Banglacricket.com (http://www.banglacricket.com/).

hmm looks like WI is playing very negative cricket. b'desh's fielding looks quite solid. we are in the march for a victory!!!

May be but that drop catch?

Bengaltiger, they might just be waiting the pacers out and then strike out against our SLAs. They have a number of good (if inconsistent) batsmen (including southpaws) on hand, and I don't think the pitch is that spinner-friendly.

Match Facts: In the 12 overs bowled, the Windies have given away 63 dot balls and have hit just one boundary which came from Chanderpaul's bat. Their run rate of 1.5 says the story and bears testimony to the fact that the Bangladeshi opening bowlers have bowled pretty well...from cricbuzz

West Indies batting is so slowwwwwwwwwwww .. snails pace. Watching paint dry is much more interesting than this :).

Windies are trying to play the pacers out and hit against spinners. That exactly will be their downfall, these SLA's are best in taking wickets when ppl go against them.

I guess the next wicket is for lalla.

Need two more wickets soon. The ball is swinging less now, need to start pitching at middle stump and swinging marginally outside off stump. Need to vary ....it is beginning to look repititive now..........Mashrafi is pitching the ball outside off and then further away, no need for the bastman to touch.....should be in the zone of uncertainity

Windies are looking good and settled. Our bowlers are still not well experienced enough to be innovative and aggressive to take wickets with variation. They mostly play their usual disciplined game. Hope they learn it with more games.

that was out!

No! It wasnt.

Abdur Razzak to Samuels, 1 run, huge shout for lbw. Arm-ball. Lands on the middle stump line, goes on straight, Samuels stabs at it in a hurry and it rams into the inside-edge and bobs away to the leg side. Almost squeezed through to hit the pad.
