Bangladesh Academy back in contention

Bangladesh Cricket Academy registered a five-wicket victory over Sri Lanka Academy at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium on Sunday to bounce back in the tri-nation tournament also involving Pakistan.

Rokibul Hasan, who came at number four, scored 69 not out off 73 balls with the help of four boundaries and a pair of sixes as the hosts, who lost their first game to the Pakistanis by six wickets, overhauled the revised target 42.5 overs in reply to the visitors' 218-8.

The local side, who reached 202-5, were set 201 to win in 44 overs after rain stopped the match during the second innings.

Reduced to 78-3, captain Mehrab Hossain joined Rokibul to add 98 runs for the fourth wicket. The left-hander hit a 59-ball 47 that contained three fours and a six while one down Nazimuddin added 33.

Mehrab also shone with his left-arm spin as he took two wickets for 46 runs including the scalp of opener Ian Daniel, who top-scored with 64 off 73 deliveries with ten hits to the fence.

It was however number seven batsman A Mathew who enabled his side to cross the two-hundred mark by hitting an unbeaten 42 from 51 deliveries that featured three fours and two sixes.

Local left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain Rubel continued his impressive run by taking two for 42.

I am really being impressed by the consistency of Junaed/Mehrab. both of them are really showing the temperment and maturity. Junaed is tall and aggressive. He should be playing more with the A team, I think. Its a relief to see many new players playing good cricket all around..

Very impressed with Raqibul's form. Mehrab's been a bit more patchy. Hopefully he keeps this up and eventually converts starts like these into hundreds.

Problem is he has earned a bad reputation for 'lazy' fielding.. although i've witnessed him to catch a blinder in corporate league match...
But he is a real BIG HITTER with all the strokes one may think of..
watching him batting is a real joy to the eyes...
