Inquilab reports that although it was in the minds of the BCB's selection committee to see the performance of the BD A squad in the Kenya tour and then announce the ICC Championship trophy squad, but because of the time limitation, it is not possible.

According to this newspaper, the following is the possible squad for the tournament to be announced today which will play 2 ODIs - one against Australia and the other against New Zealand:

1) Rokon
2) Hannan
3) Ashraful
4) Sumon
5) Tushar Imran
6) Pilot
7) Alok Kapali
8) Sujon
9) Rafique
10) Tapash Baisya
11) Manjurul Islam

12) Fahim Muntasir
13) Talha Jubair*
14) Mushfiqur Rahman*

*Selectors are expecting Talha Jubair and Mushfiqur Rahman to be fit soon.

1) Rokon
2) Javed Omar
3) Ashraful
4) Tushar Imran
5) Sumon
6) Mazharul Haque Mridul / Sanwar Hossain
7) Pilot
8) Sujon
9) Rafique
10) Alok Kapali
11) Manjurul Islam
12) Tapash Baisya
13) Talha Jubair
14) Fahim Muntasir Sumit

According to Janakantha, a preliminary squad of 20 players for the ICC Championship trophy has already been sent to the ICC.

All players from the SL squad might go to play this tournament, changes can occur in one or two players - Ehsanul Haque Seejan and Hannan Sarkar could be those two players. Hannan Sarkar could not live upto expectations and so Javed Omar Belim could be back after being hit by injury.

Mazharul Haque could get into the side because of his performance in the Busta cup as well as his better performance in the last season's Dhaka league than Sanwar Hossain. Yet, there was some problem regarding Mridul's fitness, which is not present at the moment with Mridul in the physio's book.

In the bowling department, the selectors would have to forget about Mashrafe and Sharif because they had not fully recovered from injury as of yet. Talha Jubair's injury is not so much, yet if he is not match-fit, then the selectors would have to be persistent with Tapash Baisya, although Tapash Baisya could not perform well enough consistently.

If Javed Omar plays, then Ashraful will have to come down in the middle order - I think that it would be better for Ashraful if he bats at number 6 position for Bangladesh at least for now.

Although Sumit is going with the team, he might not get any chance to play in any of the matches.

The Actual Squad was announced tonight. The following is the squad (according to Ekushey TV and BTV):

1) Pilot (c)(wk)
2) Sumon (vc)
3) Rokon
4) Javed
5) Ashraful
6) Tushar Imran
7) Mazharul Haque Mridul
8) Alok Kapali
9) Rafique
10) Sujon
11) Monju
12) Tapash Baisya
13) Talha Jubair
14) Fahim Muntasir Sumit

I would say that this squad has a pretty OK batting line up than the SL Tour squad, wouldn't you say so?

We will now have to see how many batsman the team management choose. If the team management get it right, there is no way that we should get all out for 60 odd runs against teams like Australia or New Zealand.

With teams like Australia and NZ, there is every way that our batsmen will manage to get out by 60 odd runs. :)

The bowling as always is weak. What can we do ? There is only one or two quality bowlers in the whole country and half of them (Masri) is injured. GRRRRRRRRRR.

Well, I do believe Masri and Monju is world class. But Enamul Haque/ Muhammad Rafiq are above the rest, but not upto where Monjur or Masri is.

Writing in this forum after a long time. Found that the website address has been changed too.
Anyway, found that in the newspaper Sanwar will be considered 15th man in the sqad after seeing his century in Kenya.
I wonder why Hannan Sarker and Sejan is out. Our team selector is not giving enough chances to the youngstars - anybody who is not showing good performance in one series is removed in the next series. This put extra tension in our cricketers and that affects in their performance. I recall that Sejan showed good performance in the practice match in SL - but couldn't do much in the first test - and he was punished in the next test - wasn't selected in the XI and dropped in the following series.
