I am gonna go to bed now but it was an uplifting experience to see JO (the perennial Golla) and Nafees show more than a good fight.

When i wake up tomorrow, i expect to not read another damning bulletin by Cricinfo and Miraz. Hoping to see something healthy.

Congrats to JO on his half century and hope he understands his job is not even half done. May Bashar take his cue.

Go Tigers.

as Poorfan said, SN lost the battle with Murali. Now the real question:

I'm yet to feel that despite his 50, JO is really comfortable out there. Other players may have gotten more of a flow going by now. This is important for the next session. Are we going to still hang around, or actually get somewhere?

The pitch seems fabulous for enjoying the batting. Right now JO looks burdened despite the 50. Instead Rajin seems to be doing great fending off malinga as well as punishing the bad balls. And he's the new batsman too! Where's this going to go?

from the live commentary of cricbuzz.com

For the first time, Bangladesh have won a session in this test match. They have completely disallowed the Sri Lankans to dominate like the first innings. Of course the pitch has become a lot better for batting now. But the way the Bangladeshis have countered Murali is something that stands out. But the damage has already been done in the last two days. How long can Bangladesh avoid the inevitable remains to be seen. We'll be back after lunch, i.e. in 40 minutes time...

ottawaGuy
June 27, 2007, 02:12 AM

the best u can hope to see is a delay of the inevitable...

ahem*... im not talkin about prayin for anythin else but rain...:D .. hope it comes really soon and stops a days play or so... if this turns into a draw even coz of rain... the spirit they showed today... they wont b totally disgraced... so it will cover up for the **** they produced the other day...
but also if we look at it this way... if they played well like this on the first day... wed hav had a good chance of a draw atleast :s... sadly they played shitty...
oh... no guys.. im not talkin about winninig on purpose.. it wasnt a slip... its just that we stand in no position to talk about winning rite now... haha... but ya... good spirit and id hav to say that nafees went out but it wasnt his fault... he played good shot tryin to go over the bowlers head... would hav been another majestic shot to watch... but it was unfortunate... awesome to see him gettin his form bak... he played a solid knock!! and so is javed omar...
joy bangla... hope we come out alive... pray...;):P:flag:

=) Aha SN showing signs of form..1st innings..umpire's wrong decision..and 2nd innings ..very good short..just a rare catch..not everyday a bowler holds onto these.
Anyway.. i'd still say bd should try and play out 1 more session with maybe a loss of 1 wicket or 2 maximum..and if the second session goes wicketless.. wow.. i'll be glad!
Anyway ..lets see what happens.

as Poorfan said, SN lost the battle with Murali. Now the real question:

I'm yet to feel that despite his 50, JO is really comfortable out there. Other players may have gotten more of a flow going by now. This is important for the next session. Are we going to still hang around, or actually get somewhere?
<!--StartFragment -->Well as you said Javed looks not comfortable ( so many LBW call ), but SN was playing better than Javed, and the pressure was surely on SL / Murali side. If he tried to stay little longer than going too much aggressive ( not going for consecutive boundary, nor just hang around ) would have more frustrating for SL & Murali. I am not watching the game, so SN may thought it was a ball to be hit for boundary and its OK, since we didn't lose anymore wicket and won the session.

<!--StartFragment -->So I suggest in next session, we play bad balls for runs and keep the wicket intact, that will bring the result automatic ( we may win another session ).

The pitch seems fabulous for enjoying the batting. Right now JO looks burdened despite the 50. Instead Rajin seems to be doing great fending off malinga as well as punishing the bad balls. And he's the new batsman too! Where's this going to go?
Rajin looks not comfortable with Murali, thats my concern. If Javed & Rajin can play for long in 2nd session, we may win another session given if we lose 1 wicket and I will be more than happy with it.

Great ball by malinga... but I think the ball swung too much, i don't think it was plumb... I wish they had hawk eye.

My first reaction was it was missing leg. I think the umpire was persuaded because the ball hit his back foot so the ball had less distance to travel.

Malinga is now generating massive reverse swing. But control could be better.

Initially he was. Then after lunch, we've noticed that he's got his feet moving forward more. There was a great cover drive off Murali. And he is also reading Murali sufficiently well.... when there was that bad ball (short wide, Rajin cut it away with flair).

But Rajin's also lucky that the pitch has NOTHING for the bowlers. Murali has gotten a lot of turn at times, but otherwise he hasnt used the pitch all that much comparatively. Malinga was going in with a lot of swing in the air, Rajin hung on to fending those. And Against Vaas, Rajin isnt taking much risk what with all the slips and an offside cordon.

All in All Rajin is playing solid, and defensively.

We're really in the learning process arent we? I dont remember when we were last in this sort of position. Given a target of 487 runs to OVERTAKE.... and 3 days to go. This defensive time consuming approach seems the most logical.

True, but he seems to be seeing Dilhara, the only one able to generate good pace today, with extreme ease and with all the time in his hands. High percentage shot selection is what he needs to do, HAS always needed to do.

yes. That's the beauty of test cricket. One has to adapt to the situation. Against India, we got a chance, after such a bright start; but we let it get away. In that scenario, losing the match had the minimum of probability and we could easily go for the win. On the other hand, this test is a test of patience now.
