When I'm bored I like contradicting SohelNR's well reasoned posts which I otherwise fully agree with. I also like thinking up what Bashar made his fielders do at short leg.

You're wrong, Wrong, WRONG! Bashar is Mr. 50 in Tests, JO is a quality Test Match player, Rajin is a test specialist, Pilot is the worlds best wicketkeeper after Gilchrist. We're fine... its all the coach and captain's fault. Also the pitch is playing tricks, it wont rain, and the umpires a cheat.

Bowlers are not doing that bad. 316/4 at the moment is reasonable. With the batting in the first innings, a demoralized bowlers can not be expected to deliver much more.

Ash has three test 100s, two of them against Sri Lanka.

From Cricinfo-

"On September 8, 2001, at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, Mohammad Ashraful turned a terrible mismatch into a slice of history by becoming the youngest man - or boy - to make a Test century. Bangladesh still crashed to heavy defeat, but "Matin" brought hope and consolation with a sparkling hundred, repeatedly dancing down to hit the Sri Lankan spinners, including Muralitharan, back over their heads ... and on his debut, too. It was the day before his 17th birthday according to some sources, and 63 days after it according to most others: either way, he broke the long-standing record set by Mushtaq Mohammad (17 years 82 days) when he made 101 for Pakistan against India in 1960-61. Inevitably, such a heady early achievement proved hard to live up to, and after a prolonged poor run Ashraful was dropped for England's first visit in October 2003. He returned to the side a better player, but no less flamboyant, as he demonstrated with a glorious unbeaten 158 in defeat against India at Chittagong late in 2004. Still not 21 when Bangladesh made their maiden tour of England the following year, Ashraful confirmed his status as one for the future at Cardiff, when his brilliantly paced century set Bangladesh up for their astonishing victory over Australia in the NatWest Series. But Ashraful didn't fulfil his evident potential on the tour of Sri Lanka that followed, often getting out to loose shots, and made little impact against the Australians early in 2006 either. An extended run of poor form forced the management to drop Ashraful for the final qualifying match of the Champions Trophy against Zimbabwe. He was also omitted from the squad for the home series against Zimbabwe in December but was immediately recalled after slamming 263 for Dhaka Division against Chittagong Division in the domestic four-day competition. He was appointed Bangladesh's captain in June 2007 at the tender age of 22.

with pleasure. hajir biryani is actually a tehari, not a biriyani as it is not seasoned with saffron, the spice that defines biriyani as biriyani. it is also cooked with beef, not the traditional mutton used for biriyani.

hajir biriyani is a slowly cooked rice and beef dish akin to some of the persian polo dishes and italian risottos. small grain kataribhogh rice, choice cubes of beef shortrib and sirloin are delicately seasoned and cooked together with first pressed mustard oil, and served on dried jackfruit leaves with a side of fresh green chilies - they can serve it on a plate also. the excruciatingly long steaming process under a gamch'ha - a versatile garment made of natural cotton - allows the flavors mingle together until the meat reaches that indescribable, perfect tenderness. it HAS to be eaten steaming hot in the restaurant for the whole experience.

the family that owns the restaurant continues follow the tradition of not cooking more than 2 cauldrons per day, and the food usually runs out in less than 90 minutes early in the morning, and less than 45 minutes early in the evening. in typical dhakaiya fashion with regards to all things sacred, they don't care about the commercial growth of this particular enterprise. the restaurant has no signs or menus, and has never advertised in its 50 plus year old history, ever since the original haji sahib (hence the name) came back from makkah, and served up the first pot after the maghrib prayers. some say that a taste of mansaf, the traditional bedouin fare, influenced his methods somewhat. hajir biriyani costs less than a euro and no one has EVER gotten sick from eating a plate. the subtlties associated with savoring the simplicity of hajir biriyani separate the men from the boys in old dhaka.

lol, aright...I'll give you something to edit!

god [] dammit! I am too [] sick of Bangladesh's [] poor performance.

Javed Omar Belim Golla for startar...that [] is incapable of playing shots which he hides by blocking every god damned ball. He goes two feet away from the off stump sometimes to block a ball. I mean []! Just push it away here and there than just to block it straight. I could put up with that in test matches if he actually blocked a few hundread balls. He comes to crease, blocks 80 balls, scores 10-15 runs and gets out! What is the []point of that? If you are gonna be that serious about blocking then block dammit! Same thing for pilot.

What kind of pathetic [] shot did Ashraf play in the first innnings? Even I could've played that better! Sometimes he is just absolutely [] amazing with his bat, but often he plays some shots that are so [] stupid that you just wanna shove his head into an elephant's []. So far deep that he wont be able to smell anything for the rest of his life.

It's the love thats inspiring this hate speech. They are capable of such good cricket, but sometimes they play worse than the middle school kids.

p.s. Ammark bhai...did u come to BC get togather? ;)

p.s.s [] filter is on...lets see....[] [] [] [] [] [] ....damn! my swearing vocabulary is embarrassingly small!

I have a feeling SL will declare at tea. Give the last session for us to bat, and then target some top order wickets. We've been out fielding all day, and then to bat in fading light.... that'll be the plan. Even if we manage to overtake their innings lead, this game'll be easily finished by day 5

Hewasandatchige Asiri Prasanna Wishvanath Jayawardene

From Cricinfo- "Jayawardene looked set for a long career after touring England as a 19-year-old in 1998, but had been marginalised since the rocket-fuelled arrival of Kumar Sangakkara in 2000. Waiting on the sidelines, in fact, had already been a feature of Jayawardene's career. He made his Test debut against Pakistan at Kandy in June 2000, but was confined to the dressing-room throughout, as Sri Lanka batted over the first three days before rain washed out play on the last two. The resurgence of Romesh Kaluwitharana threatened to push Jayawardene further down the pecking order, but his batting has steadily improved in the intervening years, and with the Sri Lankan selectors voicing their concerns about overburdening Sangakkara, Jayawardene was recalled to the Test squad for the tour of Zimbabwe in April 2004.

Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas

From Cricinfo- " Chaminda Vaas is easily the most penetrative and successful new-ball bowler Sri Lanka have had, and he has served his country well. He swings and seams the ball with skill, his trademark delivery being the late indipper. However, he also bowls a carefully disguised offcutter, and has recently added reverse-swing to his armoury, a skill that has made him a consistent wicket-taker even on bland subcontinental pitches. He outbowled New Zealand's seamers in green conditions at Napier to give Sri Lanka their first win in an overseas Test, in 1994-95. In 2001-02 he made a quantum leap, taking 26 wickets in the 3-0 rout of West Indies, becoming only the second fast bowler, after Imran Khan, to take 14 wickets in a match in the subcontinent. He then went on to take the first-ever ODI eight-for, against Zimbabwe, which included a hat-trick. He also claimed a hat-trick with the first three balls of the match against Bangladesh in the 2003 World Cup. Vaas reached the 300-wicket milestone in Tests against India in 2005-06, having passed the mark in ODIs on the tour to Zimbabwe. Vaas is easily Sri Lanka's second-most successful bowler - after Muttiah Muralitharan - in both forms of the game. His approach to his batting is equally sincere and in recent years he has gradually gained recognition as a useful allrounder. In 2004 he also gained overdue recognition for his talent when he was selected for the World XI at the inaugural ICC Awards.

Spot on! The poor batting makes the bowlers work so tough. With a first innings score of 89, it's hard for the bowlers to get themselves inspired. If we could make 350-400, the bowlers knew, there good work can produce some good results. Now whatever they do, we can not get rid of an innigs defeat.

feel really pity for our players the way these Lankans are treating them, no mercy at all!! even Rafique is getting badly smashed.

HaBa's not a bad bowler from the looks of this over:

110.6 Habibul Bashar to Vaas, no run, defended back to the bowler on the back foot
110.5 Habibul Bashar to Vaas, no run
110.4 Habibul Bashar to Vaas, no run, Bashar angles it into Vaas from round the wicket, pushed towards mid on off the back foot
110.3 Habibul Bashar to HAPW Jayawardene, 1 run, tossed up on off stump, Jayawardene moves on to the back foot and drives to long on
110.2 Habibul Bashar to Vaas, 1 run, driven off the back foot to deep cover for a single
110.1 Habibul Bashar to Vaas, no run, bowled slowly through the air on off stump, Vaas defends on the back foot

wel BD managed to take SL to 400-6.. I wouldnt call that very bad. IF BD had a 1st innings score of 350-400.. pressure would build up on SL and BD could get SL all-out within 500. Against a batting side like SL, that isnt a very bad bowling really.

Its our batting that constantly keeps to suck!

But you also have to look at SL batting lineup....relatively new with only three regulars.

Yeah neither vass or the wicket keeper has a century, so i guess they will keep going, they have plenty of time to bowl Bangladesh out even if it does rain

Superior infrastructure with more FC cricket, lots of A team cricket for players on the fringe, and better quality cricket from an older and wiser cricket culture ... their "new guys" are head and shoulders above most of our "veterans".

They have only been around since 1982..

We have been around since 1999, and somewhat fast-tracked into test cricket for the passion for the game alone. The Lankan entry was unfairly delayed by at least 10 years in comparison. I remember how Tennekun, Warnapura, Mendis and De Silva (not Aravinda) wiped the board with us during the late 70s, Yusuf Babu and Lintu era.

I know but still i am not really satisfied with our bowlers performance as well. Without those two wkts from Shahadat at the bigining of the innings, rest looks pretty mediocar

I think Mahela J. is giving chace to HAPW Jayawardene (http://content-www.cricinfo.com/slvbdesh/content/current/player/49236.html) to score maiden test century.
