Ltes keep Bashar in the team as a bowler.

Sohel
June 26, 2007, 05:33 AM
I know but still i am not really satisfied with our bowlers performance as well. Without those two wkts from Shahadat at the bigining of the innings, rest looks pretty mediocar

I'd cut our young guys a lot of slack until they get the proper support though a reformatted NCL with more, better quality FC cricket.

True. Moreover, cricket is only played by the Gymkhana Club elite in Nairobi and happens to be one of the least popular sports in the country. Their National team has a pool of less than 200 players to choose from.

A reformatted FC schedule with 25 (5 best of 5) 4-day matches and 35 (best of 7) List-A matches instead of the current 10 (best of 2) 4-day matches and 1 List-A match per team - there are 6 FC teams in Bangladesh BTW - will do wonders for our International cricket in both forms of the game, and possibly faster than anybody in the past. Professional talent scouts will help a great deal also. At least the BCB corruption in behind us now.

Ít's funny, though expected as an instant result of the 1st innings performance, that some people are questioning the test status.

But the fact is, many teams have been in similar or even worse situations than this. Cricket is a big politics. And sadly, our selectors, management and the stupid players dont have even the minimum concern of it. Abilitywise, even the current test team (leaving players like Tamim and Aftab) can very well compete with the best of the world. What they lack is a strong mentality. They panic, when they should not. They have big problems with their attitude and at the end of they all their talent go in vain and we have to hear the criticisms, if we deserve the test status or not, even after these many years.

Give me a bat and then ask the Murali-Vass-Malinga to do their best. I am sure, they can not frighten me, with all my limitation I will not make my wicket a cheap gift! I dont know when these stupid talents will turn in to professional test players.

Questioning the test status is nothing other than an act of futility from the unreasonable. It is far more constructive focus on what we need to do to compete at this level. We need to take a good, hard, cold look at BCB corruption - the way it is being done at the moment - and the negative role played by club cricket with regards to FC cricket.

We have to come down to Earth once in a while and take a raincheck. Just one victory over India and another over South Africa in One Day Cricket does not mean we have a team as yet anywhere near the other 8. We maybe slightly closer to West Indies, that's about it.

Vaas and P Jayawardene's partnership, Gillespie's 201 shows how bare our bowling resources are. The batting - the less I say, the better.

Mohammad Rafique to Vaas, 2 runs, that's Vaas's maiden Test hundred in his 98th Test! He gets it with a back foot cut through cover point, he's understandably delighted with the effort, well played Chaminda Vaas, it's been a flawless innings, I can't remember a single false shot

We need a good coach as soon as possible. BCB is really making it delayed. McInnes and some other good coaches are interested and BCB seem not to be interested. A coach needs a few months to settle down with his team.

The way BCB goes is too much frustating to me.

95% of BCB management's getting canned sooner than we know. The announcement may come after that. Richy Mac's chances are better now than ever.

Whom do u guys think plays Murali the best in our team?? /:)

No doubt, Ashraful. He has always batted reasonably against him. After all he has two centuries against Sri Lanka. Only he has to be there in the first place.

Also, coming in as late as No.5 is questionable. If he is supposed to be our best batsman, he should give himself more time at the crease. Until Bashar is dropped/retires , he should bat at No.5. I have a question mark on Sakib anyway.

What is the deadline?? How long do we have till we need to appoint a coach?? or it doesn't matter., as long as BCB wants to take?? I am confused. First of all. Our players are just as mediocre as our BCB memebrs. We might have natural talents in the team.. but to be successful..you need to understand .. than being natural won't get you nowhere. These players need to learn to understand how to play cricket according to the book.. cuz.. anyone can swing away at the ball and go for boundaries.. but not everyone can win a championship or two. So therefore.. for us to be good... we need to play using our brain not our talents.. Sorry I am loosing my point. The point is.. we shouldn't worry soo much about what coach is more capable and who is more experienced blah blah.. We shud simply elect the coach that is willing to dig into our mess and start cleaning things up. We need someone who can organize our talented Dumbass Stars and have em understand how to play the game of cricket as a team and not as individuals. I think BCB should go for the guy who is showing the most ineterest over our team, and also see who the BD fans and players want as a coach. To me it looks like RM is at the top of the order. Go with him, and cross ur fingers. He should know by now.. ppl are expecting a great deal out of him.. so he shudn't do anything to dissapoint us Fans. Good Luck

The gist of your write up is to find out the true champion of the game, we have true champions like Ash and Mash but none of them are up to the standard of test match yet. May be in near future. But the point is the lack of individual craving for showing honour to the alloted duties and responsibilities. Like for a 12 yr old kid this is another game, for an experienced test cricketer it is another day in office. Professionalism in longer version can grow and will grow only with more and more burden of doing the job right that is more exposure to 4-5 day matches. Then out of 11 players 3 to 4 will start doing the right job.

I respect Rafique a lot, he has always been true to his profession.

Embarassing performance by our boys so far. Looking back at it I didn't really expect us to win but I expected better. Hats off to Murali for once again showing why he's one of the all time greats. He gives problems to even the most experienced of players so our boys had no chance. It's like Michael Jordan vs. high school players. Hopefully this will not break or demoralize the spirit of our team. It's a long road and things like this are going to happen. Today they should just forget about everything else and just bat and play it out.
