Like most of the other ppl I am bit dissapointed seeing no win for us so far. However, we probably can agree on the change of self believing the players are showing. Still too early to comment but they r bit more consistent than before. I think the key for getting better is keep pushing for it( obviously talent and skill required as well). Aussies were a good team, they pushed themselves they became one of the best, they were still hungry so now they are the best, i dont see them stopping . Obviously the management knows things times better than me. its just my personal thought.

"His temperature has come down but he is still in the hospital, so there is no chance to see him in the third one-day match," Faruque Ahmed, the chief selector, confirmed to the Dhaka-based The Daily Star.

According to Faruq there is no hope for Ashraful to play in the third Odi...but when it comes to Bashar he wants Ashraful in his team...look at his comment

Habibul Bashar, the Bangladesh captain, explained why the management didn't ask for a replacement. "There is a very slim chance for Ashraful to play the match but we wanted to monitor his condition till tomorrow and that was the reason we didn't ask for any replacement for him," he said. "If Ashraful feels good than definitely he will play the match because he is an important player in the team."

Should they even risk playing Ash? I mean the test is right around the corner.
Confession, don't know much about Farhad, but according Cricinfo stat, he seems like a decent batsman.

I think the main plus would be Bashar would have a sixth bowler (seamer).

Ash's rest is very essential for our test team. We don't want 50% fit players (any players).

Good luck to Bd team. Hope we win the last one.

Number 7 warning signal is on in Chittagong. The cyclone is expected to hit ctg around tuesday evening local time.

I lived there all my life before coming to Toronto...and based upon all the storms I've seen, if warning signal level reaches 7, you can almost guarantee that there WILL be a storm and it will be raining on and off until it hits your area and probably sometimes even after that.

Here is the exact quote

"Outfield is quite wet and the covers are on. Reports suggest that a pitch inspection will take place only as late as 12:00 local time, 11:30 AM IST, 6:00 GMT."

May 14, 2007, 10:14 PM
From Cricinfo -

Sidharth Monga is waiting for sun at Chittagong. He sends us this: "After being at it all night, the rain has stopped for the last one hour or so. Now, the one most hated commodity in Bangladesh -- the sun -- is not the most wanted. They need two to three hours of sun to make the ground playable in. The square, though, looks fine, and they have started to take the covers off. But the major worry is the outfield, which needs serious drying. The next inspection will be done at 12 noon local time (11:30 IST). The teams are not expected to arrive at the ground before 10am local time."

Rain delay Inspection at 12 noon local time
Heavy overnight rain has delayed the start of the third and final ODI between Bangladesh and India at Chittagong. The umpires have announced an inspection at 12 noon local time (0600 GMT), but the forecast isn't encouraging, and there are chances of the match being a non-starter.

From TC -

Heavy showers lashed Chittagong last night leaving the outfield of the Bir Shrestha Shahid Ruhul Amin Stadium wet and soggy with puddles clearly visible. It stopped raining in the morning but grey clouds still hover ominously and the fate of today’s (Tuesday) third and final ODI of the Grameenphone series still hangs in the balance.

The umpires have had an early morning inspection and with no prospect of the match starting any time soon have decided to hold the next inspection at 12pm.

The two teams stayed back at the hotel in the mornin but India plan to use the indoor facilities at the ground around 10am. Bangladesh are due to arrive at 12.

There has been no rain for the last hour or so, but overhead conditions are still fairly cloudy. The covers have been removed from the pitch, and the square itself is in good shape, but the worry is the outfield, which has received a severe battering over the last 24 hours. Unless the overhead conditions improve and sun comes out, it's difficult to see much play happening today.

I'd still give the edge to India because of Sewhag and there batsmen can rotate strike better than ours and also Javed Omar and Habibul would have to bat @ 9 and 10.

Yea, thats true. I think the next big thing is the 20-20 world cup in september, so in view of that the board just organized this tournamnent among the various state teams.

I think it was TN who won the final against Punjab. Unfortunately since it was taking place during the world cup there was no TV coverage for the fans to enjoy the experience.

I think the subcontinental teams have to get smarter when it comes to playing 20-20. OZs, Eng and SAs are much better of than us.

Did you mean that the batting order will be changed or the actual player list will be changed? I thought the name of the players are to be submitted before the umpires walk on the field.. Is there are an ICC rule for when the playing 11 must be finalized?

BTW: If it is 20 over match,, technically, the chances are more towards BAN than India but,,, we all know the reality is much different than what is on paper..

Did you mean that the batting order will be changed or the actual player list will be changed? I thought the name of the players are to be submitted before the umpires walk on the field.. Is there are an ICC rule for when the playing 11 must be finalized?
As far I know, you don't have to submit the team until umpires call you for toss (obviously, you have to submit the team before the toss takes place).

An ODI can't be shorter than 25 overs per innings.

I thought we played against bermuda for like 21 ovs in the WC.

...wasn't an ODI played 22 overs in WC-BD vs Australiya?!

An ODI can't be shorter than 25 overs per innings.

Actually it can. 20 overs per side is the least number of overs allowed for a curtailed ODI.

You are right, 20 overs per innings is still acceptable as an ODI. Don't know why I thougt minimum of 25 overs have to be played.

I also checked the laws about submission of team, that one I got right - you don't have to submit your team until before the toss.

1.05pm Umpires are inspecting the field. They walked all around the outfield. It looked decently dry on camera. They didn't thread gingerly anywhere. So hold on ... we might have some play. I shall let you know asap. from circinfo

Hurrah? Our players had only a week's rest. Your rubbish team went against our Tired team and even then , nearly gave you guys a thrashing in both matches. You should use PHEW! instead of HURRAH!

Hahaha. This is like, when we were kids, we used to fight among friends about whose runs are more worthwhile for the team.
