It seems Pilot has reached at the end point of his career. Mushif Rahim is a nice batsman but he is not much convincing as a wicket keeper. I am sure Mushy will keep his place permanently in the team as a batsman. But still we need to look for a good wicket keeper. I don't have much idea about the promising keepers in BD. I would love to know about them.

Saghir Hossain and Dhiman Ghosh are the top contenders for the spot. IMO Saghirs the one to look out for

Shagir is good! He is a better WK than Mushfique. He could also be grromed as batsman. He showed flashes of potential in recent internationals.

If you look at FC stats, Shahin Hossain (http://content-www.cricinfo.com/bangladesh/content/player/56127.html) seems to be the best Bangladeshi keeper. He is topping NCL keeping stats for last 3-4 years. Someone with 150 catches and 25 stumpings in 52 matches got to be a quality keeper (even Pilot don't have that many FC stumping).
Shahin was given a few matches in A-team's tour of England, 2005. Unfortunately, he did not click with bat in that tour, and after that he is very much a forgotten man.

Shahin used to be a real good prospect. He was one of top scorer in the NCL few years ago. I am not sure what happened to him nowadays.

Here is a similar discussion thread on future national wicketkeepers.
Even though this thread was created in 2005, it has posts as latest as February 2007.

Watcher I know you have enough attachments with domestic cricket. How is Shagir?

The real question is BCB thinking of a replacement now of anyone besides Mushfiq/Pilot? I dont think they are at this moment. Their choice of WC is, as it appears, is between Saghir Pavel and Dheeman. Both are good but none of them outshone the recent Raqibul, Kamrul, Mahmudullah etc. In other words, I dont think there is any plan to find/train wicketkeepers for the team...

agreed. that being said, if keping is more important than batting, then dhiman's my choice, though he's not at all shabby with the bat. saghir, as enthusiastic as he may be behind the stumps, his technique leaves a lot to be desired. i'd say dhiman's a little better with the bat also. the other three are promising batsman, i'm not too keen on what i've seen of them behind the stumps... :-|

Pilot is only 31 and I believe, he still has lot to contribute, given the selectors dont get into personal problems with him. Dont know much about the others. Mushfiq is not convincing, Sagir and Dhiman are good batsman. Don't know how good they are in wicket keeping.

dhiman's good from what i've seen over the past few. good at creating dismissal opportunities by suggesting scripts to the bowler. on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being exceptional like gilchrist, taibu or sangakkara in a purely wicketkeeping sense, i'd give pilot a 3.75 and dhiman a 3.5. mushi'll get a 3.0... :)

But none are good enough to play an innings like this

After pailot we must go for mushfiq.....pailot has some cricket left in him i beleive.......by this time Mushfiq has to grow as a wicket keeper....I am still not convinced that mushfiq can get in the team as a pure batsman...that is something we have to wait n see....for now....to replace pailot...he has to learn to keep well

They fell off the map, after 04-05, the younger one still hits occasional 100's. In 2005 he was the Best Player in the NCL. Not even 20 yet he has alot of time

Hmmm, can't really tell you whole lot. He has a decent height for a keeper (5'8-10').
http://www.thedailystar.net/2007/02/24/2007-02-24__sport01.jpg
England A batsman Michael Carberry whips the ball towards mid-wicket as Bangladesh A wicketkeeper Sahagir Hossain and first-slip Nasiruddin Faruq look on.
He was in the preliminery squad for 2004 U/19 team, but Dhiman got the final nod from McInnes. His stats (http://content-www.cricinfo.com/bangladesh/content/current/player/56158.html) in NCL is not bad.
The only time I saw Saghir and Shahin in action was in the premier league twenty20 final. Shahin sure seemed to be a better keeper in that match.

Sahgir seems to be a good wicket keeper as we see from the stats. But he needs to improve his batting a bit. One thing I noticed is not good. No of stamping should have been more as spinners dominate in all of the 3 teams from which he played FCs.
