Going purely by reputation of players, Pakistan is a little stronger. Sri Lanka is almost a B team - no Vaas, no Murali, no Sangakkara, Atapattu dropped.

Not sure which is the stronger team. Pakistans middle order looks a bit barren without Inzamam and Younis. Sri Lanka are without Vaas, Murali and Sangakkara. Attapattus place has been taken by Chamara Silva who has proved himself in the world cup. Bandara coming in place of Murali. A good match to watch.

Mohammad Sami to Kapugedera, FOUR, Edge past Afridi at slip. Ball travelled fast to the left of Afridi at a wide first slip. He did not pick it up.

Yeh shahid Afridi is the reason Imran got out unfortunately. It happens...

Shoaib Maliks captaincy was average. Didnt impress me much. It would be good if he would bowl a few overs, instead of making all 5 bowlers bowl their quota of overs. Asif was superb yet again. Sami was unfortunate, should have got a few more wickets. Afridi didnt pose much threat. Razzaqs bowling was average too. Too many Sri Lankan batsmen throwing their wicket away. Maharoof showed how batting should be done on this pitch. He needs to do it more consistently.

Currently Pakistan 72/1 and need 163 to win from 35.2 overs. The match is swinging in Pakistans favour.

38.6 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, What an over. Ends with a flourish, down the ground and plasters it back over the bowler's head for a huge hit. 446666 - the second most expensive over in one-dayers. Only behind Herschelle Gibbs. Blitz, boom, bash, bosh. Bring them on
38.5 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, Miscued and that's six more, he tries to whack it over long-on but the thick edge howitzers over long-off for another six. The fielder can't get to it
38.4 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, And this is bigger, much bigger. Thrash, bang, wallop. Similar formula, down the ground and blasts it way over extra cover for a huge six. That's massive. Thunder bolts flying around now
38.3 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, SIX, Shot of the day must be, a flat-batted six to beat all flat-batted hits. Flatter this time and he charges again, tonks it sensationally through extra-cover for a six. Boom boom boom
Over the wicket this time
38.2 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, change of angle matters a little now. It's tossed up and Afridi arrives, even before the ball is delivered, and creams it down the ground for a blistering four. Straight and hard - the best way we guess. Boom boom
around the wicket from Bandara now
38.1 Bandara to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, This is too easy now, Bandara flights it outside off and Afridi jumps down the track yet again, tries to go over cover but the thickish outside edge flies away over point for a four. Boom boom

After THAT over : 28 runs required from 11 overs, RR: 5.33, RRR: 2.54

From cricinfo:

Afridi went from 25 off 17 balls to 57 off 23. Now that's the way you bring up your fifty.

True, even though people might say SL are without Murali, Vaas and Sangakkara...as for Pakistan..theres no Inzi, Younis, Shoaib Akhtar...

Its just that when its Afridis day then it doesnt matter who the opponents are..they will be losing (more than 90% of times)

i'm not an indo-pak fan. in fact, after bd, i usually root for the lankans. but damn, what an immense performance by afridi, on his day easily the best argument that cricket is NOT a team sport. imran nazir continues to impress and sadly, be unlucky... i hope that long string of misfortune ends soon, he's a pleasure to watch. lanka's an ordinary side without murali, and now sangakkara and the rest of the WC regulars rested for the game - but mahela was still going to pull it off before... well we all know what happened... congrats to all pak fans, the shoaib malik era has begun... :applause:

True. SL definitely can bounce back, though I am not sure how seriously they are looking to win the series here. They gave the first match to a debutant, which I was not quite sure was the right thing to do. SL lower order doesnt have the required fire power to score big in the last 10 overs.

sanath needs to take the game away early and decisively for the lankans to bounce back. fielding the WC squad will help also...
