Masri was looking for the surprise straight one to take out off-stump on the first ball again

Didn't get him out but it's making him limp around

So that's a good result ;)

Bashar's decision to bowl first seemed illogical. We really had one fast bowler playing.

Also, the Dhaka pitches were more ideal for spinners. They should have played Enam now and not during the Chitt test - where fast bowlers always did better.

A lot will now depend on Rafique and his old paw.

You have lost one of your main bowler, you have got one bowler ill, you have conceeded one spinner, it's hot and humid and still you decided to bowl first. I don't get it Mr Habibul. You continues to disappoint us.

I am loosing the interest under your captaincy Mr Habibul.
I thought you already lost your interest after last test.;)

Doesn't change the fact that there's no point having a second slip for a bowler who hasn't the pace or the movement to take the ball there.

Meanwhile that close cover fieldsman might snaffle a catch if they drive uppishly.

TheWatcher
May 25, 2007, 12:32 AM
A big part of the blame should go the curator too, he must have told Bashar that the pitch will have good bounce. Otherwise, it is extremely foolhardy for Bashar (or the management) to choose to field first.

Tapash bowls in that range too, but the only downside to his bowling is that he's complete rubbish.

I've heard Mohammed Shahzada around 80-81mph but that's yet to be confirmed.

And given the rumours about how much quicker Shanto's bowling is these days, I wouldn't be surprised if he's nudging 90mph ;)

Yeah really,, its not like India has scored 200 runs in first session and they are playing too aggressive. The batsmen are playing very cautiously and thats why we are not getting any wickets... You have to understand, this is test cricket and its a good test team we are playing against.. As much as you think bowling is bad, its the batsmen that are making it look bad more than they are. Just as Mashrafee made Indian bowlers look ordinary.. So patience

Mortaza has a great economy rate right now, but you have to admit that Karthik and Jaffer aren't exactly swinging for the boundary out there on every ball. They seem fairly content with 67-0 at lunch.

Actually, there's a lot to learn here. They have wickets in hand and yet they protected their wickets. One wicket before lunch would've put a damper in proceedings for India. Our batsmen should take note.

Guys, NOT AT ALL shocking decision to bowl first. Stop blaming Bashar for everything.

Mortaza's been getting a fair bit from this pitch, so if we'd had Shahadat it may have paid off.

But we don't.

Kabir bhai, amader desher pitch ki rokom apni janen....just dead....and the weather here is sooo hot here is dhaka that.....whatever moisture there needs hardly 30 mins to dry up...ter upor oi moisture kaje laganor jonno je fire power dorkar ta ki amader ache?? Shahadat is not playing....sharif making comeback after 5 years.....dekhen ki obostha holo??

30 mins amader batsman ra katai dite parle amra jodi kichu ekta score dara korate partam, then we could have made pressure to the indian line up.....er ekhon ki hobe?? BD will bowl around 150 overs...there will be lots of rough areas created.....Kumble and Powar will become deadly.....and the result is.......innigs defeat.

Actually, there's a lot to learn here. They have wickets in hand and yet they protected their wickets. One wicket before lunch would've put a damper in proceedings for India. Our batsmen should take note.Of course, I'd be thrilled if Bangladesh were 67-0 after their first 26 overs.

I'm certainly not trying to take anything away from Karthik and Jaffer. They both looked fairly comfortable out there. Karthik looked a little shaky a few times I guess, but overall he didn't take too many risks.

I can see a huge lack of concentration among the bowlers. Specially Rafik seems more cautious about finishing his balls as he has to catch the plane for Afro Asia cup right away. Sakib seems more worried about the shine of the ball rather his line.

So patience

yeah. couldn't agree more, sakib al hasan shall get a wicket soon...

"batting paradise"...so why are we fielding???

Because of HaBa Bashar and his defensive mindset. He has no faith in his batters and certainly not of his own. "Let India pile up 500+ and we will show them by saving the follow-on"- thats what he is thinking, me think.

I am so suprised at these comments. How can the fielders and bowlers chose not to perform because the captain has decided to field first.
What would you have said had the fielders taken the catches and thereby triggered a batting collapse ?

If the curator can't make pitches according to home team's demand, or, atleast tell the team about the nature of the pitch in advance, then there is no meanig of the word "home advantage".

About Bashar, you will find only one or two people here who think he is smart enough to be a captain.

I agree. Dropping Enam for Sharif was one of the most grave decision I have seen by the team in recent times. Especially, when we know that Enam is dangerous on 3rd day onward on Mirpur Pitch..
