The Windies that never lost a test series for 15 years....the same Windies which boasted 2 of the 5 greatest ever players. The same Windies which dominated the test matches. Slaughtered England. Murdered Australia. Decimated Pakistan. That team was reduced to rubble yesterday.

Chirpy Vaughan was going all high....you know England...one test match and they're the best team that ever was...

The decline of the Windies hasn't helped with the departure of Lara and Bradshaw...
Let us never forget those players Windies once boasted.

I mean, in the commentating box, Holding was commentating; and the co commentators were taking the piss.

Boy if they were facing him, and it was 25-30 years ago...
Holding is a nice man, but he could get very vicious. He is very humble to; the way the English commentators were acting as if they are the greatest ever team for beating Windies was ridicilous; you could see the false pride in the voice of Botham....
Disgusting.

I doubt anyone would think Englands the best team ever. Theyre going through a tough time too. Although, you do bring up a valid point. The 70s Windies team should not be forgotten...

Yes WI fell from the top. England was never on the top to begin with when it really mattered (last 50 years). No one feels anything of beating Uruguay now. But at one time they were the finest. These wins should just be considered as one win only.

No one in England is saying this. The general feeling in England is:
1. Despite performing well in the last Test our Bowling is a bit fragile
2. Batsman are doing fine.
3. A competitive Test would be a lot better to watch than an innings +200 runs victory

Bearman is speaking practical. English has the subtlety to being snobbish with pure pride. How the hell they do that is a tough question to answer. One reason might be there world dominance and prejudiced political culture.
Its sweet to beat WI but not as sweet as regaining the Ashes.
