Graham Ford was appointed India's coach on Saturday, filling a two-month-old vacancy and ending a search that seemed to have come to life in only the past week. Ford, the players' choice for the job, has been offered a one-year contract and is expected to start work during India's tour of Ireland later this month.

I didn't understand all the drama in the end when it was between Ford and Embury. To me, ford was an automatic choice given the almost total absense of Embury's coaching experience.

Whatmore remained the first choice for some time and lost the position owing to his own verbal misadventures. I welcome Ford and wish him great success in his new assignment.
