After Shahriar Nafees won accolades the previous year, it's the Old, Zealous and Enthusiastic to get recognized this time. Yet another cricketer to take home the National award. Congratulations to Mohammad Rafique!

Nothing in my first sentense suggests anything about specific awards :)

He should have got this reward long time ago. but, he does not brag about his performances, so always gets overlooked. finally he got his well-deserved national recognition. very happy for him

2006er award in 2007 ???? etto late?

Award for a particular year is usually given in the following year. But keeping in mind that this is a "national" award, it's ought to be the latest one to be handed out :) Any kind of "jatiyo" puroshkar is always late!

2006er award in 2007 ???? etto late?
We go by calendar years. How can you award something when there are games to be played on the same year? Hense only after finishing the year these type of awards can be given away.

Let me play devil's advocate here. If this is a lifetime achievement award, then I have no issues with it, but, since this award is given anually and aptly titled as, "National Sports Award 2006", I fail to see how Rafiq gets it for the particular year of 2006. He probably had his worst year in 2006. You can argue that he had a good series against Australia ( both with the ball and bat ), but so did SN, and in subsequent series following the Aussie tour from last year, he was not better than Razzak or Mashrafee with the ball. It was SN who should have got the best cricketer award from 2006. Rafiq's once fierce willow has also left him since the second innings assault against Australia in a total losing cause.

Lifetime award : Yes.
2006 award : NO.
