SN 27.44
ASH 24.28
N. Iqbal 23.54
JO 22.35
Aftab 20.78
Rafique 20.50
Sakib 19.20
Pilot 19.04
Alok 17.69
Mash 11.68
Tapash 11.29
Tareq 11
Shahadat 7.33
Sharif 7.25
Tushar 6.87
Razzak 6.33
Mushfiq 6
Rasel 5.50
Enamul 4

Lets say we want 7 Batsmen and 4 Bowlers( excl. part-time bowlers ). Who do we choose as per the Stats ?

Batsmen
-----------
Habla, Rajin, SN, Ash, N.Iqbal, JO, Aftab

Bowlers
----------
For bowlers, lets say we go for ones that can bat properly as well.

Rafique, Mashrafe, Tapash/Tareq, Shahadat

Overall, 4 spinners, 1 Slow Medium pacer, 3 Fast medium pacers = 8 BOWLERS!

---------------------
12th man - Sakib
---------------------

Now, that we have picked a good combination, how much runs can we score ?
Calculating gives - APPROX. 232 Runs.

So, next time you watch BD play in a Test, 232 Runs in an innings is your set target. If BD scores over 232, be amazed.

Now, if we look at an unrealistic picture, taking 11 top batsmen from the list, how much runs can we score ?
Calculating gives - APPROX. 277 Runs in an innigs. So, that is the max. Total you should expect from BD.

As soon as opponent scores above 300, start praying!

Good calculation but statistic never tells truth.

actually it should be lower than 232...since batting averages are weighted towards unbeaten knocks...thus the real sum of the "mean scores" is prolly around 215-220.

Ouch, that even hurts more.

Yeah, but for Bangladesh players, there won't be too many unbeaten knocks, seeing they would usually get bowled out.

So most unbeaten knocks will belong to those down the order, most likely the #10 or #11.

At least five of those batsmen should have an average above 30.

Very true, and atleast 2 (HaBa and Ash) over 40. HaBa if he converted more of those 50s into 100s by trying to overcome his compulsive hooking and other technical flaws, and Ash with a yet-to-be seen repetoire of higher percentage shot selection.

By the end of their career:

Nafees should average 40
Ashraful should average around 38
Rajin.... maybe 38 as well?
Bashar 36/37

For the younger players, they have time to reach those figures. It will means they will need to do very well though (average 50+ in most of their future games).

For Bashar, it will mean he will need to average about 55. He will also need to convert those 50's,60's,70's into big centuries, and by big, I mean 150-200.

Not going to happen.

It probably won't, but Bashar does have a couple of Test centuries to his name. Anyone who scores a Test century is capable of going on to greater things (such as your 150's, 200's).

I mean, look at Gillespie. If he can score a double century, then Bashar should be capable...

Time is against him though, I must say.

What wrong with you guys did you see their performance.
We suck in Test matches and we suck in cricket we should be demoted by ICC
Thats the only way our players can feel the urge to do better we should play ICC intercontinental cup instead of Test
Its not tigers its chagol (goat)
look first test with sri lanka 89 all out 1st innings 2nd test same thing 62 all out..
We keep on making the same mistakes.
What and ebarrasment for our country and you guys are still expecting our country to do well in sri lanka
maybe MS ashraful's Opinion is not realistic that we will do well in sri Lanka.
no wonder he is so immatured according to his age.
He makes the same mistakes and Does not use his Brains.
