Can anybody explain to me what influence on Earth does Shahriar, Javed and Habibul have on BCB's Selectors?

We call them top order batsmen, but time and again, they all have repeatedly failed to score 100 runs altogether. Then why on Earth our selectors assign these three useless batsmen to the top order? However I strongly believe these men should be replaced by Tushar Imran, Tamim Iqbal and Aftab Ahmed respectively for the final Test.

by the way, just interested to know, who do you want them to be replaced with?

Thank you for opinion Orion.

In reply to your comment, I have had been observing Shahriar for about the previous 25 matches he had played, that includes ODI and Tests. In all 23 match Shahriar played, he failed to score even 25 runs per match except the latter two matches in which he scored about 38 against Current Sri Lanka Series and 40 aginst India series.

I think shakib might come back in place of mehrab jr, but dont think the selectors will drop JO or Bashar. SN might lose his position to Mehrab (not unlikely) & dont think Tushar will make be in....

Javed Omar has had been playing international cricket for about 10 years now - yet he shows no signs of improvement, although, apparently he is reaching retiring age.

Javed has never reformed in cricket since he was playing international cricket at young age. Now he will not reform because he is ageing.

Telling someone is bad is not good enough, you have to give a replacement for them. And No, those who are doing good in age group level is not an option. 80% of all the players in the team did good in age group.

True, anyway, threre's almost no chance to drop Javed and Nafees while Bashar is in the line to be replaced by Tushar who is joining the team for the third test.

What fools seriously Javed may seem like rubbish, but he is one of our best test players right now, I cant believe the hateful idiots that are allowed on this site.

Also Nafees hasnt completely failed either, he is slowly getting his form back, just because he hasnt got a half century yet, dont count him out,

Cricket commentators on TV in England, have repeatedly suggested that based on the batting talent of both Ashraful and Mushfiqur, it would be a wise, viable and inspiring decision to make them bat first.

If the foundation of a building is strong, then it will take time for the building to collapse. What I am trying to say is that if both Ashraful and Mushfiqur can build a good foundation of scoreboard by batting first then others will be inspired to furnish the foundations.

Yeah I agree with the thread. I say drop them faster than Britney Spears drops babies. And while we are on it, lets make a new law for BD cricket: if you dont score 50s and 100s, immediately swap them for another player. That should do BD cricket a whole lot of good. No player will be able to set in, and thus understand that their presense in test cricket is ephemeral unless they shine constantly.

Why does it always have to be some players having some extra infulence? Is this our typical bangali mentality? When Mushfiq and Tamim were added in the WC did they get chance because they had influence? If the selectors did the right thing then going against many of us why do we always think that they are corrupt when something goes wrong? I think it is time for us to grow up a little bit. I am not saying the selectors are always right but as soon as something goes wrong if we accuse them of taking bribes without having any proof that's really wrong.

I agree 100% with you. If you observe other countries you will notice consistent performances from upper orders. Technically best batsmen of the side bat at position #3 and 4 . Top order especially Bashar's clueless innings are putting undue pressures on the middle orders. Our pro Bashar BC staff still supports him and they will still support him untill our test status is over !!!

If the foundation of a building is strong, then it will take time for the building to collapse.

May be the commentators haven't seen Bangladesh up too closely. They don't know that the types of housing structures in Bangladesh aren't the same as the ones in England. One is made with brick and cement, and the other's built with bamboo and tin.

i think the players just dont show any commitment to the team. if they did they wouldnt be 60 and 80 all out in each 1st innings. they have been playing test cricket for quite a few years now. its like a "haba" student who keeps failing in the exam, no matter how many times he appear, because he is simply not good enough/doesnt work hard enough.only innings of substance came from a young kid, its the guts that matter and Bd's so called experienced players dont have it.

coach sarwar said, bangladeshi players are not mentally tough enough to sustain at this level. mental toughness comes from hard work and determination. if our players are such "shahebjada" they shouldnt be playing test cricket and the govt shouldnt waste money for them.

Dropping three players at a go wont solve the problem here.
IF someone has been chosen for the series, they should be given the time to prove thier worth and with only 1 test match to go, i fail to see what good it bring in bringing that many changes in the team.

JO, being our pet hate player, is always on the spotlight. But he has done considerably well among the failure of our batsmen. Scoring 50 in the first test, i thought, was good enough for him to retain his position on the upcoming test.

SN's batting looks getting a bit better every match. He seems to have getting in some sort of touch, though not much. Third test would be a biggest platform for him to prove his worth, or he knows he would also be shown the doors.

Bring backs to Bashar. I have no idea what's wrong with him. He does seriously needs the vacation. Out of touch, out of mind, out of heart.

He needs to sort his own thing first before hogging one of the most important place in the batting order.

dropping javed omar, nafees and bashar is not the answer. who are we gonna replace them with? nafees is still young and he has alot of potential he is just going through some bad time. i am sure he will bounce back. ashraful went through bad form as well. javed is performing decent now. i think we should continue with bashar in the third test too if he doesnt perform in the third test then we should think about dropping him but not now.

I'm amazed at the sheer number of fans who still don't get Faruikka and Ata. Please don't be disappointed to see only Sharif being dropped for Tushar as a desperate, last gasp, jodi laigga jay measure from the incompetent duo who have never been held accountable for the utter absence of a transparent, reasonable selection process, and the subsequently bizarre selections and stop gap measures.

Drop Mehrab Jr? You can add your name to, and become a part of the problem as your impulses dictate. I am not interested in ruining young careers of very young men who manage to improve despite real odds. Patience is still a virtue after only two innings of failure under horrible circumstances, and "fair weather fanhood" is probably not. Our cricket culture is indeed a 7-year old child who thinks he knows it all.

If you check his Test economy rate then you will discover it was pretty good. He was not as expensive in Test cricket. Further, he carried our pace attack all by himself when Masri was injured and there was no sign of Shahadat.

Further, let me remind you that Test cricket is about taking wicket and not about being economic. Mind you, you gotta take 20 wickets in a test match. So, I would not even mind if gives away at 5-6 per over but keeps taking wickets. I would have him as our third pacer over Sharif and Rasel in Test anyday!

I dont think those last minute changes are going to effect anything to stop another horrible humiliating innings defeat in Kandy. The wicket is more bouncy and in a bouncy pitch bowlers like Rankin is enough to uproot our top order. So bowling department needs a booster and Mash and Shahadat needs to decide who is going to take on whom. Thats why all my prayers are to a toss win, send Srilanka bat and with the use of morning dew and new ball attack over. If you can bowl heavily well in the first day morning and then only with sudden revival of our batsmen we can hope for a much wanted draw.

The plain truth taklima_naj, and thank you for it. Rajin, although he possibly wouldn't have done any worse than the current duo, is not an opener or an effective number 3 for that matter. He has serious issues with seeing the quicker balls early. Neither he, nor Golla are anything other than stop-gap measures for our team at this level. With Abir about 20 more successful NCL 4-day matches away from coming back stronger than ever, and Nirala and Junayed a minimum of 3 years away from the test arena, save a few warm-up or "technical needs assessment trials" here and there, we don't have too many opening options. Orion, who has proven me wrong and corrected most of his technical and temperamental flaws at this level in record time (2 weeks ... WOW), needs to be worked up to the opening slot to become what is expected of him. That said, I'd have picked the Iqbal brothers instead of Abir and Golla for this tour, and consider Alok and Aftab's continued exclusion nothing less than criminal from a couple of incompetent, inept and nepotistic selectors who have never had the talent themselves to recognize what it is. They all see the quicker deliveries early, and have the talent to play the right shots effortlessly. The shot selections issues they'll correct over time as Ash has learned to do, and like Ash, they have talent and youth on their side. Tamim's 4-day average is 40 BTW.

Mehrab still has issue with foot movement. In both innings, he got out due to poor technique. Incoming fuller deliveries gets him in big trouble.

My take on his almost identical dismissals is different. After hitting a perfect boundary, he had lapsed in his focus with regards to picking up the line early, hence the drag back into the stumps. IMHO, it was timing, not misjudgement of line or length more than anything else. Certainly not the footwork.

I am not sure though. My observation says he lacks feet movement. To fair, I want him to prove me wrong and prove you right.:)

i haven't been able to see much bangladesh cricket (from australia so don't see much banladesh cricket and don't know anything about the domestic scene) but from what i have seen from nafees he seems to be quite talented, his test career is still young, as is his age so imo give him a couple of years then re-evaluate his position in the test team.

His footwork does look suspect to balls being angled into him. Specifically his propensity to leave a big gap between bat and pad. his front-foot needs to come across a lot more when playing balls outside off-stump.
