Here is my team for third test.

Javed Omar Belim (love him or Hate Him, we still need him)
Rajin Saleh (He was our no.3 batsman, but technically he opened. If he opens, I think, he will bring stability in our opening position)
Mushfiqur Rahim (should be our new no.3. This matured batsman has got the technique to claim the no.3 slot)
Mohammad Ashraful (His best Position)
Tushar Imran (Automatic Choice at the moment)
Habibul Bashar/Shahriar Nafees Ahmed (Please help me to decide)
Sakib Al Hasan/ Mehrab Junior (Please help me to decide)
Mashrafee Mortaza
Mohammad Rafique
Shahadat Hossain
Syed Rasel

Rahim at #3 isn't a bad idea actually.

Omar, Nafees, Rahim, Ashraful, Rajin, Imran, Bashar, Mortaza, Rafique, Hossain, Rasel.

I think it is worth persevering with Nafees at #2.

I would keep both Sakib and Mehrab to give them another chance. Bashar and Nafees have gotten plenty of opprtunities but they failed miserably !! So, they need to be rested.

Did anyone think of having Ashraful and Mushfik opening for a change? It looked like Ashraful ran out of partners in the second innings. He is prob the only one where we have this risk, don't think anyone else can stand for the length of time he did. So why taking this risk.

Please make this Bashar's last match. He might have contributed a lot in tests during his jolly years but come on except the fact that he has aged.

I recorded yesterday's play and watched some of it last night and the commentators were very impressed with Mushfiq and said that he looked the most composed of the BD batsmen, and that he should bat higher up the order.

mla
July 6, 2007, 07:44 AM
If Ashraful and Mushfiq opened, I wonder if it would improve the lower order too. If the in-form batsmen are in the middle of the order, then the top order may on some level, even subconsciously, feel that there's a safety net there for them.

Javed Omar Belim (love him or Hate Him, we still need him)
Rajin Saleh (He was our no.3 batsman, but technically he opened. If he opens, I think, he will bring stability in our opening position)

Habibul Bashar/Shahriar Nafees Ahmed (Please help me to decide)
Sakib Al Hasan/ Mehrab Junior (Please help me to decide)
Mashrafee Mortaza
Mohammad Rafique
Shahadat Hossain
Syed Rasel

I like this team from my heart and I wish this from the very begining but it didnt happen, anyway in terms of Sakib and Mehrab I prefer Mehrab as he has done well enough with A team and I think Sakib need more time for test and he well bowled also, nafees should have been rested,Hablu can have another chance in terms of test

1.Javed Omar
2. Nafees (last shot..not successfull=out for ODI, if well...open with Tamim in ODI)
3. Saleh
4. Ash
5. Mushi
6. Tushar Imran ( he is coming in)
7. Sakib
8.Mehrab jr.
9.Mash
10.shahadat
11. Rasel

Rafiq so far was unable to do anything..Kandy is gonna be even more of pitch for pacers...mehrab/sakib/Ash ...they can provide enough support with spin when needed...rafiq should be used in future tests..but he just does not look threatening at all...
u have to give each player at least 2 tests before u cut and run...mehrab/sakib both should have a another shot...
As for Bashar...he could not score during world cup/India ODI/India Test + 2 Sri test..most importantly...he looks completely out of form...many people like to give him one more chance but the same people said 2nd test will be his last one and now changing their tone...

Bringing Tushar in the team now will be one of the dumbest thigs ever.
To me, it does not matter who they are choosing for the 3rd test. The result will be another big innings defeat and that's all.

I think Tushar will play the 3rd test but who will he replace, obvious choice would be Mehrab Jr but that would be very harsh on the youngster plus his bowling is a bonus. I cant see them giving Bashar a break ?? Will they re jig the line up again meaning take Shahriar down put Saleh at the top, no I dont think so I think a simple choice Tushar for Mehrab plus Tushar bowls some silly off spin. Also if Mohammed Sharif continues then well I dont know what to say really. He is toothless.

Good one Sadat. This would be my lineup. This is the test where we go all out attack. Nothing to lose. shake things up. See what happens. Both Sakib and Merab Jr. need chances. Enough spin bowling can be extracted from these two. Rasel deserves a shot. Rafique can be rested and prepare for the ODIs. The Batting lineup looks the strongest.

I guess Tushar WAS your best friend!
BD managment played with his career. I like to play him atleast 2 series before even thinking of excluding from the team. He feels total outsider if he gets call once in a while [when ban needed him] and warm the bench. I hope this time he would play for 5/6 test matchs in a row.

Who cares who plays in the 3rd TEST? Let all the Buira Dhamra Langra Kana Boba Boka Komor Bhanga players play for the last time... if Faruq, Atahar wants to play, let them play also.... I hope they don't bring back Sakib or Tushar.

Its a lost cause for the TEAM... its a lost cause for the players.

After this series lets hope there will be a REAL house cleansing mission from top to bottom... from executives to selectors to coaches to players to structure.

My Team:

01. Javed Omar (only Spitty won't include him)
02. Shahriar Nafees (Bro, I'm keeping faith in you but for heaven's sake, do something)
03. Rajin Saleh: I think this is his best position
04. Mohammad Ashraful: Again I think his best position
05. Mushfiqur Rahim: The kid showed it all in one innings.
06. Shakibul Hassan: Deserves more chance
07. Habibul Bashar: Last chance, do or die.
08. Mashrafee: Where are thou, bro? we know you can bat.
09. Mohammad Rafique: show me you are not finished.
10. Shahadat Hossain: need a bowler right?
11. Syed Rasel: He is always good against SL. if we can get a edge in bowling, batting will get the encouragement. and no, if up to 7 cannot do anything 8 won't either.

So why play at all, correct? Its like the new SAT...if you draw a test, you get another one in the series...continue upto 3 tests max for BD.

If you lose the 1st, by an innings...pack your bags. If by less than an innings...go to ODI.

My team:

Omar Belim
Shah Nafees
Rajin Saleh
Mushfiq Rahman
Md. Ashraful
Tushar Imran
Mehrab/Sakib
Mashrafe Mortaza
TBD SPINNER
Shahadat Hossain

3 full time bowlers + 2 part-time bowlers (Mehrab/Sakib + Ashraful)

For the 11th player: either Bashar or Rasel. I would pick Bashar most likely.

Whatever way you choose the team, there are 2-3 big holes.

He does well with the A team and in FC matches. The selectors give him one chance in an ODI. he scores a 20 or 30 and then he is dropped again. BD management is alltime dumb a$$es.

Pundit, it's not all about some bad performance in a single test. It's because of the endless repetition of the same set of mistakes. They certainly deserve to pack their kits and take the return flight back home.

Good selection choices man, I dont know why but I have a feeling that Saleh has to open up in the top order. I think its because he has the maturity to open up and boosts the teams confidence. Also I wanted Syed Rasel to bowl too as he is a clever bowler. Oh yeah seeing as hardly any1 has helped you about your choices I would pick Sakib Ul Hasan because of his all round abilities and Shahriar Nafees based on runs scored so far.

I also think that this team selection threads are becoming a bit boring.. We complain about constant changes and yet propose changes to the changes so we dont have changes? Its pretty obvious that Tusher is playing the 3rd test. The only change that will happen is who is coming out,,thats it. We dont have to re-analyze the entire team and justify the other 10 players inclusion rationale. With that, its either Mehrab or Sharif who is going to be dropped. I would've dropped Sharif as he had zero impact on the team. Mehrab atleast took 2 wickets and can contribute as opener or as a useful bowler. The other one has lost his touch completely, no pace or swing or bat and unfortunately has become a good domestic circuit player.

I propose bringing Tazkia & Irin along with Tushar to strengthening the batting order. Moreover as its 3rd meaningless TEST, I also propose to give rest to Mashrafee and Shahadat and replcae them with Shamima & Champa.

Can we also make sure that we give the coaching job to Ponting's grandmother? She was interested for the job, from the last time I heard.

A thirt seamer is much needed. Tapash would a good choice for this. Spinners completely failed against the lankans.

- We need Javed and Rajin's grittiness to open the inning.
- Tushar already has the experience in playing in Lanka recently and batting in top 5 slots. He should be ready to handle the new ball if necessary.
- Ashraful so far is our best batsman and 2nd down is the ideal place for them
- Mushfiq showed some good technique, determination and application to take the responsibility of 3rd down batsman.
- Controversial it may be but Bashar still can be more effective at 4th down over <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />S Nafees in the test matches. Nafees shows lack of technique against quality bowling (except for one time, against the jet-lagged Aussiess). He can come back after rectifying his game.
- Sakib is under pressure but he has the technique to survive in test cricket (personally, I would not play Sakib or Mehrab Jr. at this point, but we don't have much option). I hope at 5th down he would be able to play with less pressure on him.
The rest don't require much explanation or thoughts. On the bowling option, I never understood why they even tried Sharif against India. I am completely clueless about why he is playing in lanka. So, Rassell should be brought back in. We still need Rafiq's service.

it seems rafique might be dropped, if we replace shraif with rasel and rafique wih tushar we have a number of part time spinners with three different style seamers. Going without a specialist spinner might be a favourable gamble based on the seaming condition.

Since I doubt the selectors will drop Bashar, the next best thing is to bring him down in the order as a tailender. Tailenders are usually expected to put up 5-15 runs so Habibul wouldn't really hurt the team, he would just do what is expected from a tailender. The thing that is hurting our team a lot is that he scores only 10 runs from an IMPORTANT batting position. so you think its good enough??? 28 in 4/5 overs is so good in test matches??? 48 in less than 7 overs is also good enough??? man this is not odi.. in test you have to be on the crease and make the bowlers work hard. by making 20/30 in few balls doesnt make you a good test opener... if the opening pair could stay on the wicket for at least 20 overs and made around 50 runs then i would think that its a good opening stand..

When the openers give a good solid start and stay on the wicket for more than 15 overs then the middle order batsman could to better otherwise they might fail in every innings....

muradnic, at the end, runs are all that matters. Unless offcourse you are starting the game with intentions of a draw(win should be the primary objective) or have a delayed defeat! In comparison to Bangladesh's 28,86,3 and 48.. the lankan opening stands are 1 and 41 in 1 and 13 overs respectively. thats atleast one area we've definitely been better at.

I would just advocate one change from the 2nd test. Rasel has to come in for Sharif. Who does Tushar replace? I dont see the team think tank dropping Bashar. Mehrab has to be given a decent run.Being a middle order batsmen I dont see him replacing SN, JO or Rajin. But I would like to see our captain take up more responsbility and get up the order. My team for the 3rd test will be:

Shahriar Nafees

My XI for the 3rd test, bad original selection and hence not a lot of good, realistic options-

1. Golla (Again we'll see him trying to impress the selectors for inclusion into the ODI side)
2. Abir (Orion's not ready to open, so again we'll see him trying to impress Chachchu for inclusion into the ODI side)
3. Rajin (Still the de facto opener, he'll need to survive the new ball before getting out after scoring 50, if he manages)
4. Orion (He'll do unexpectedly well)
5. Ash (Century # 5 and 6)
6. Mushy (Century # 1)
7. Tushar (Won't do worse than HaBa)
8. Shakib (Will do better)
9. Mash (Will do better with the bat)
10. Shahadat (Will do better with the bat)
11. Rafique (His batting days are over)

The so called third seamer option is a waste of time IMHO, especially with the choices available. Tapash, Dollar and even a depleted Talha have better chances to take wickets than Rasel and Sharif put together. Test cricket bowling, unlike ODIs, is not about containment. Rasel will continue to improve and may become a test seamer before long, but definitely not now. Then again, no competent selector would've replaced an injured Tapash with Sharif.

Wishful result with my XI? We'll play 5 days and force Sri lanka bat again, albeit for less than 100 runs.

Faruikka's XI? Tushar in Sharif out. Abir out (too much nepotism may destroy bhatija's test career if it hasn't already), Orion to open (not a good move to put additional pressure on yet another young cricketer) and praying jodi laigga jay.

Zia, how is your team and particular batting order different or better than the countless other teams posted here? Maybe you should do the proofs rather than asking everyone else to prove you wrong?

Rafiq, mostly based on last two test's performance. Mehrab and Shaqib got their places as I feel they should get some more chances. After all Sakib is solid batsman with bowling ability. Bashar and Nafees was not in the team due to their super poor performances.Sharif did not perform as anticipated. Other players made it either because we don't have other choices or based on their own merits.

Look at the depth of the batting order. Since we are scoring below 100 in first innings we need a super solid batting order. Only way we can expect a draw if we can bat long and score reasonably well.

Thanks for asking me to reason out. I know I did a sloppy job as I don't have time to back it through stats. Please feel free to one if you want.

ok, I understand and realize that Mushi is well suited for batting at number 3 if we are batting first in second inning it's too much to ask because he would have to rush in after keeping for 90 overs or more most times... so I don't think it's realistic. Ash at #4 seems fine but he doesn't play higher up the order for some reason...if he comes after 40 overs or 45 overs... he would get average 50 but the problem is at the top the quality isn't there so rather where he goes in to bat for me, for him to successful he needs to go in when the ball is reasonably old. Like halfway through the ball's life expectency. Of all the other batsmen Javed should remain at 1, I would push the inexperienced Mehrab Hossain up the order ( I know it seems crazy because he is very inexperienced but at least he can proabably cope with a inswinger better than Nafees). To me as an opener you wait for ball on your pads or on the stumps so you can pick up some cheap runs and go to the other end but suprising Nafees manages to get out on those too often. Saleh is good but not consistent #3 is ok for the moment, but I think Tushar may be a better batsman than Saleh altogether and he defintely deserves a chance for third test but I don't know if that will happen. For future tests, Kapali also should get at least a call up. The bowlers should provide some resistence... i mean the last 4 wickets are often Christmas presents for the opposition. Too many holes in the line up.

Ash has gotten the Inzy syndrom. He is obviously the best batsman in the team but refuses to bat up the order. Best batsman can't hide from the new ball and let other batsmen who are less technically equipped to face the music. Ash should bat up the order at number 4 and take care of the opposition himself. Batting at number 6 will make sure 80 percent of the time he is fighting a lost battle with his team already down 40/4.

Under the current conditions where the BD openers come to the crease just to hi and bye, playing at no. 4 is like opening the innings (the ball is only 4 overs old). Once we get a well settled opening pair who can atleast see off the first 15 overs, Ash should play at 5 where he prefers. He is just not comfortable with a very new ball. I don't think it makes him a bad player....every player has some strengths which they should capitalize on rather than following traditions like 'the best batsman should bat at no. 3/4'.

God how i wish the selectors wouldnt bring tushar in. He's going to screw up again. I guarantee you. And then the poor fella will be kicked out of the team again. As for mehrab......he's another gumbie. Absolutely useless. He's going to stay in for about 30 balls and he'll score about 5-15 runs. A waste of a spot. And i assume the good-for-nothing selectors are going to replace mehrab, who has only played one match, with tushar. I feel very sorry for these players, even if they havent proven their worth. Faruqe MUST go.

Nevertheless, we've got no one else. It seems as if the selectors have given up on sakib. So both mehrab and tushar will most likely get a go. I miss aftab :(

Yeah you got a point. Batting at number 4 for Bangladesh is almost the same thing as opening the innings. So how do you prevent that? By building a partnership. Who do you need there to bulld a good long partnership? Your best batsman. There lies the answer. Again, when our openers come and go and we are two wickets down within the first 4 overs, if we don't send our best batsman in to handle the situation, we will be four down within 10 overs. I rather take 2 down in four overs than four down in 10 overs.

More than anything, I feel like the problem is mental. He got the technique to play the new ball if necessary. So it is not about his strength or weekness. It is about his lack of confidence to do so and coaches can help him take care of that.

So you guys are voting for Sharif's exclusion, along with a 'batsman' or batsmen who can't even score 20 runs. I understand the frustration behind it, whom we will bring that will really prove us that our team can survive for atleast few sessions. We all complained that Rafique's inability to bat and even he mentioned in interview that he got the new ball and he was not practicing batting with new ball! Not sure if it is the main reason for his early departure, but do you think Tushar can handle this intelligent bowling attack from SL. He was never been in the fold with national team consistently and never practiced with our team or other standard bowling attacks. And now he is been drafted to the test team to face one of the top worldclass bowling attack. I still see another major innings defeat looming, though I knew it will happen. But I want to see our batsmen give more value to their wickets, play basic cricket, and try to take the test go beyond fourth day!!!!

Bashar, Nafees are out because they need to work hard on their batting technique, Rafique should go home to make his son feel feel secured... and let him spend time with family. aftab ahmed in the bottom order so that at least we see some sparks before we lose too many tail wickets... Ashraful should play at # 5 or higher. Sakibul Hasan has still yet to be given more chances along with Mehrab Jr. Javed Omor will occasionally give you his patient yet effective knock, so keep him(i hope he keeps our hopes high for the remaining of the series)

The way the game was played last two tests, I believe we rather make lanka bat first and then try to survive for few sessions atleast two days (somehow), not sure if our batsmen worked extra two days to rectify the mistakes and built a decent temperment to stay in crease and also score runs to reduce the pressure from them.

So according to the Daily Star, it will be same team as 2nd TEST except for:

1) Sharif OUT ---- Rasel in IN
2) If SN OUT (still if) only then Tushar is IN

If DS is correct then Bashar will be in the team. Same is true for Mehrab.

So the team will be (based on DS info):

Gullu
Mehrab (Mehrab Opens if Tushar is included)
Rajin
SN or Tushar (SN opens)
Bashar
Ash
Rahim
Mashrafee
Rafiq

I have some questions to the selectors: (All three)

You guys took Mehrab Jr. as an opener for this tour. Why (the funk) you bring him instead of sakib in the middle order after one game? Where is your patience? If you want to ruin these boys futures there are many ways to do it. I just want to hear the truth from your stinking mouths. Say it loud, "We funked up".

Now I see you have pushed Bashar down the order. Why do you keep a non performing player in the team? You big mouth about players track record, physical and mental strength. Have you guys seen the recent track record of Bashar? He is mentally and physically the weakest link in the team right now. Ah do you think his tremendous career record five years from now would garantee him a place? If I can sense when a player needs a little rest why can't you guys feel it? You guys could be good cricketers of your time but bad evaluators of talent with zero management skills.

On Tushar, you said he is worse than Mushfiq in the middle order. Rajin stole his spot in the team. How come all of a sudden he has become a better option than both Sakib and Mehrab Jr.? You have no patience on these kids but lots of patience to the only non-performer in the team?

Admit your mistakes. That is the first step on getting things right. Don't try to defend your wrong doings which would make matters worse. Step down or you will be removed. Thankless jobs can become thankful jobs if there is a process or transparancy of the work. Don't bring in "shojon priti" and say it is not personal. Liars!!

Therefore, I say to the the selectors that if you understand that "a team is as good as its weakest link" then our team is as good as how Bashar is performing now a days. And if you would really like our team to be a winning one, target for our weakest link should be a performer whose performance is as good as today's best performers.

Bangladesh are hounded by their repeated first-innings failures as Sri Lanka seek a 3-0 sweep when the final Test starts here.

The hosts, who won the previous two Tests by innings margins and plenty of time to spare, are firm favourites to secure their 10th successive victory over Bangladesh despite the threat of rain.

The tourists are under no illusion they can prevent a clean sweep. All they want to do is bat out the opening day if they are again given first strike on a pace-friendly Asgiriya stadium wicket.

Bangladesh were shot out for 89 and their lowest total of 62 on the opening days of the previous two Tests after being sent in to bat by Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene.

"Selection dilemma
Bishwajit Roy from Kandy

Having flown in Tushar Imran from home ahead of the third Bangladesh-Sri Lanka Test starting here tomorrow, the visiting team management established the idea that it was ready to give the middle-order batsman his comeback Test after two years.

The think-tank, however, was in a selection dilemma after the first look at the Asgiriya pitch during yesterday's practice session and looked to revise their pre-meditated strategy going into the final match of the series with only three specialist bowlers.

An expected seaming condition with a lot of grass on the surface has forced the management to consider bringing in left-arm paceman Syed Rasel in place of Mohammad Sharif as the third seamer.

After the second Test, it was all but decided that the Tigers would field three specialist bowlers in Kandy but the latest development has made the selectors' job harder as they have to drop a batsman to make way for Tushar.

Mehrab Hossain have had a poor maiden Test but ignoring him would seem harsh after giving the youngster just one game. A few believe that the time has come to axe opener Shahriar Nafees after his series of poor showing.

For Tushar, failure could mean returning to the wilderness again as it is hard for any cricketer to play his natural game after joining the team in the middle of the series.

Tushar is one of the most unfortunate players in the country as he has hardly got fair judgment during his career. Tushar made his Test debut in 2002 against Sri Lanka and last played against the same team in 2005, and in between, he played two Tests in South Africa. The number of four games, however, was good enough for the Faruque Ahmed-led selection panel to say that they have given Tushar enough chance.

Understandably, the question has been raised whether this one-match performance would be a criteria for the selectors to make a conclusion on his future.

Selector Akram Khan, who is touring with the team, however, assured a fair treatment.

"Just forget what happened in the past. We hope he will give his best if he ultimately plays the match and I can assure you that his performance here will not be decisive for future selection. He will get the fair treatment,” said the former Bangladesh captain.

Akram have had the experience of joining the team in the middle of the tournament during the 2003 World Cup in South Africa and he is very much aware of how difficult it is for a batsman.

"No doubt it's a big pressure for a batsman but you should cope with this at this level. But Tushar has an advantage as he is considered for the one-day squad,” he explained.

Akram meanwhile, was not ready to explain their U-turn about the inform batsman, whose exclusion from the Test squad had raised a lot of eyebrows.

Chief selector Faruque then defended that Tushar was given enough chance but failed to prove his worth but suddenly, the selectors found that Tushar is an inform batsman who can rescue the team from batting debacles.

"Actually we considered him after our unexpected failure of the top order batting. We thought that Tushar would be a good choice to strengthen the batting," Akram told.

The selectors were also in confusion over the one-day fate of Habibul Bashar as they have actually no policy about the one-day team.

It has been all but confirmed who will return home on conclusion of the Test series except one place. Bashar lost his captaincy mainly because of his poor form in limited-overs cricket and continued his bad patch in the Test series to jeopardise his chances to stay.

However, it was learnt that Faruque wants to see his last Test performance before deciding his one-day fate."

The incompetent duo F and A's cavalier disregard for details and reason continues to surprise many. Why? 47 cricketers in 48 tests still not indication enough as to what they really are?

Orion (Mehrab Hossain Jr.) is likely to get the shaft as Tushy (Tushar Imran) did before him, and Alok (Alok Kapali) continues to no matter what he does or how badly key players in the team want him. Why does that surprise anyone under a system that continues to lack transparent talent assessment, selection and grooming criteria for cricketers who obviously do not have the benefit of enough quality First Class cricket to adequately prepare for the highest level? How can their self-styled apologists in this forum continue to call that anything other than the arbitrary fiefdom it is? How can an arbitrary system not make the blunders it has, with the zero accountability those apologists don't seem to bother themselves with too much, despite the fact that "F-Bhai" and "A-Bhai" are public officials in a agency largely supported by Bangladeshi taxpayers? What next? Being equally generous to Khaleda and Hasina "Aunties" and their equally iniquitous, and infinitely more corrupt cronies for the sake of being "civil" to those who continue to make a mockery of the public trust? Shame. Shame. Shame.

Wake up and smell the morning beverage of your choice, and learn to expect more of yourselves and your public officials.

I hope AK (Akram Khan) and his team in the future will do the necessary to spare all of us the shaft.

Tushar, Rasel in for third Test

TigerCricket.com Report
10-July-2007

KANDY: Bangladesh have made two changes from the second Test team for the third and final match of the Laqshya Series starting tomorrow. Batsman Mehrab Hossain (Jr.), who made 6 and 8 on debut at the P Sara Stadium made way for Tushar Imran who had flown in on Saturday. Left-arm paceman Syed Rasel meanwhile gets his first game on this tour in place of Mohammad Sharif.

The Tigers, 0-2 down in the series, have training in the afternoon at the Asigirya Stadium, venue for the third Test.

Sri Lanka will name their playing eleven on the morning of the match. There will be atleast one change in their lineup with veteran pace bowler Chaminda Vaas not available. Vaas has left for England to fulfill his county cricket commitments.

BANGLADESH: Mohammad Ashraful (Captain), Shahriar Nafees Ahmed, Javed Omer Belim, Rajin Saleh, Habibul Bashar, Tushar Imran, Mushfiqur Rahim (Wicketkeeper), Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (Vice Captain), Mohammed Rafique, Shahadat Hossain Rajib, Syed Rasel.

I hope he won't rush to make runs quick just for the sake of scoring runs and proving our selectors! Rasel might do good when there will be assistance from pitch but what will happen when the pitch will get old (bowling expert from here might give a better idea).

It really does not matter...I have given up on our selectors...If they wanted to bring in tushar, they should have done that to begin with...Mehrab & Sakib were only given 1 test matches...but boira Bashar gets all of them after failing repeatedly...what really ticks me is that they are still considering Bashar for the ODI if he gets a decent score in the last match...we all know that he is not fit for it anymore...and as usual...our ex Captain lacking any grace..still wants to play in the odi...he can always ask for a break rather than retiring if he really wants to come back....and don't bring Ganguly's example here... Bashar is not as talented as him...
our selectors are just visionless bean counters....
well I think its still a better team than the last one...so maybe we will do better...

Root of all the selection problems in this series is linked to the initial squad. They botched it up big time to say the least. They only took four middle order batsmen ( Rajin, Haba, Ash, Sakib ) for a three test series. You can't do that, specially, with the state of mind of HaBa and a total unknown commodity in Sakib for the longer version of the game. They took a cover for an opener ( Mehrab ) and for Pilot ( Rahim ). So, when we ran into trouble with the initial four middle order batsmen, we had no choice but to shuttle in Mehrab, up and down the order. This process is unfair to Mehrab and Sakib to a certain extent. None of them are test ready and we would have been better served if their debut were delayed by a year or two. They needn't lose heart though. They should play a lot of first class games in the next few years to hone their skills. Sakib, by way of his superior one day skills, will be constantly knocking on the door though.

I agree with staying with SN for the third test. If he gets dropped, despite playing better than the old skip, so should HaBa. Either both plays or none play at all. That will be a double standard.

Picking Sharif was another huge mistake. We could have easily brought Tushar Imran instead of him. TI would have played instead of Sakib after the first test and this whole farce with Mehrab could have been avoided.

Dropping Enam was a mistake too after an average series against India. He will always be a better bowler than Razzak with the red ball. So what he had a bad series? If he is thought of as a potential match winning test spinner, then, by all means, stay with him.

Selectors got carried away with one day success last year and mixed up the two forms of game. I actually think they are on the ball when it comes to one day selection, but this time around, for the test series, they have done a pathetic job..

Well the final list is now published and as expected, Sharif and Mehrab is out. I think this team is the best team for Bangladesh in recent times. This team has the right mix of experience amongst them. If and only if, we play to our potential,,, this team can definitely think of a draw with 7 batsman and 4 spealist bowlers. On the flip side, 6 players are out of form but if half of them come to form,,, we can definitely think of something positive.

This was a blunder. I wanted to second your post right away when I found that they are not actually resting HB or SN rather the young Wicket taker off spinner cum middle order specialist!!!

Prescription:
Early morning in empty stomach drink a glass of horitoki(or hartaki) juice
Then do Meditation and Yoga
Go to Cox's Bazaar for a change
Think past(when you were part of the flock), present and future of BD cricket looking at the sunset of Bay of Bengal
Listen to lot of patriotic songs of Sabina Yasmin

Or hire two psychics instead of one.
