Looks the first 11 has been announced, I feel sorry for Mehrab - Ash goes he has been dropped because he is not middle order batsman. Thats shows what they thought of Shakib droppping him for a guy who is not middle order, and willing to bring some one instead of giving Shakib a go. I agree Shakib and Mehrab are not right for test cricket yet but why were they used in the first place surely the position should have gone to Tushar as he has the most experience in 4 day matches. Lets see how he plays. I would like to see Ashraful and Mushfiqur play higher up the order not just because of one innings but they suit the way of play that is needed. I think Bashar should play down the order cos his too old to change his style of play. My top 5 would be Shahriar, Omar, Rajin, Ashraful, Mushfiqur, then Bashar and Tushar. New boy and out of form at the bottom.

I don't care individually who does well or not. But as a team we must do much much better than the last two outings. One thing I cannot but mention is about our bowling. So much has been written about our pathetic batting, and very rightly, so. Now, I don't agree with the explanation that Rafiq gave that after so few runs our bowlers got demoralized. That doesn't cut at this level. Just as batsmen are supposed to be scoring runs, no matter what, bowlers are supposed to be taking wickets, no matter what. And they never seemed like doing that, except for the odd dropped catches.

So, all in all, once again as the test match is coming up, hope starts building up. Let's hope for a much improved performance this time, the name/age etc. are not important. Bangladesh as a team has to count.

mali007
July 10, 2007, 08:30 AM
Now we have only one specialist spinner, Rafique--- whose mind is not in the game due to sickness of his son . For that reason Mehrab should have been there as an alrounder.
Since WC how many chances SN has gotten !! His irresponsible ''KHOCHA" well out side the off stump was the main reason for our 2nd innings debacle in the 2nd test and it was acknowledged by team management too. But cunning Faruque by REMOTE CONTROL
is pushing his cousin brother!!!!

July 10, 2007, 08:49 AM
There are total of 15 sessions in a match. If you lose the match in the first session then the bowlers can't get jack.

Good luck to BD team. A total of 500 runs would be great. That would eliminate innings defeat.

If you have channel in Dhaka board, you can get result even before it is published. I see the same thing here too.
This type of result is always manipulated by some dishonest guy. Here also the same thing. Bashar and SN results are modified as their original score will be half of the published score. They are there to ensure our innings defeat.

You know why there's negative marking for wrong answers. If you call a cow as horse then it means you don't know both cow and horse. If you don't answer then it means you don't know cow.

It is really great that people raised out of our culture (don't know bangla and hindi) has passion for our cricket and visit BanglaCricket.

KANDY: Bangladesh have made two changes from the second Test team for the third and final match of the Laqshya Series starting tomorrow. Batsman Mehrab Hossain (Jr.), who made 6 and 8 on debut at the P Sara Stadium made way for Tushar Imran who had flown in on Saturday. Honestly if you did not realize, by putting pictures of irregular sizes and big Font heading, etc. you have set a bad taste to the standard of the game threads of the recent times. I have done as much as I could without deleting anythinng to get your post anywhere close to the match threads that were open in recent times.

Guessing: One test and you are out don't justify the talent. How many gollas did Attapatu make before he started to make all those 100s and double tons?

Bashar's new excuse is: I am playing well, it is just i can't stay at the wicket. I have stopped making pull and hook shots still can't stay at the crease. but the time I am at the crease I look supreme. I don't worry of my status (cause I have a blank check from faruque) in the team.

Faruque's excuse: If Bashar perform's some what he will be included in the ODI.

voodoo_dreams This match will be THE biggest bangladeshi Run-fest in the test history. I am talkin double hundred partnerships, centuries ( atleast 2), half centuries ( atleast 3 ) under bangladesh scorecard while 11 srilankans run around under the hot summer sun in agony and disbelief.

Do you honestly believe that this will be the biggest run-fest in test history? I mean I love being optimistic but we haven't even had a run-fest in Zimbabwe let alone Sri lanka.

nasimul Some statistics: It will be Bd´s 10th test match against SL tomorrow. In previous 9 test Bd´s Ist innings total are as follows:

Bat Runs Overs
BD 90 36.4
BD 161 53.4
BD 164 62
BD 188 44
BD 191 45.4
BD 319 91.5
BD 234 76.5
BD 89 32.3
BD 62 25.2
Thanks for that, I was rather shocked in the ones I put in bold. Did we really score 319 runs in first innings and lose the test? We must have played really dismal in the second innings unlike this time round. Boy do things change!

BANGLADESH IS FINALLY IN CONTROL OF A TEST
Bangladesh vs. SriLanka
3rd Test Day 1
The Bulletin by ro1249
July 11, 2007
This is long overdue for Bangladesh fans, their Test team is in a good position after the 1st day. Openers Javed Omar and Shariar Nafees got off to a quick start and were at 80/0 after the first 10 overs. But once again the openers got out cheaply. Both Omar and Nafees played one shot too many and Bangladesh was at 90/2 after 15 overs. Unlike the first two tests, there was no collapse. Mohammad Ashraful and Mushfiqur Rahim came on and played brilliantly. They took the singles and if they had a good chance of getting a boundary they got one. At the end of day 1, Bangladesh is at a commanding 290/2. Ashraful and Rahim both have an even century.

Yes, I know this is a stretch but this is what I want to see. What I probably will see is something like 200/4 which is ok with me.

It is really great that people raised out of our culture (don't know bangla and hindi) has passion for our cricket and visit BanglaCricket.

But really, my point is simple. If you take an uneven die and roll it 10 times, the wider sides might come up 9 times but there's no reason why the narrow side wont show up even once. So statistics is on our side. Besides, i see a lot of starving talents in the team just waiting to dine big. All we need is 3/4 batsman clicking in the same innings and we're set.

I find something pretty ridiculous: in the newspaper articles there are talks of "BD should do their 2nd innings batting in the 1st innings" sort of thing. I know its kinda light-hearted comment but does that mean we want to score 62 or 89 in the 2nd inns? Did we forget last year's Fatulla test against Aussies - we could have won it had we not freaked out in the 2nd inns? It wasn't long ago that our 2nd inns batting used to be our perenninal problem and now its 1st inns. The right attitude should be to play according to the condition and post good totals, be it 1st or 2nd inns.

I agree... If the pitch is really gonna help the quicks, as mentioned in reports, a draw would be unlikely. However a solid, fighting performance is what I'm expecting. Not repeating the same mistakes that our batsmen made in the first 2 tests would go a long way towards that.

Rasel might be good ODI bowler, but not sure what he can do in test...he bowls slow medicum almost the same speed as Rafique. I believe he needs to change his pace action to add more pace to his delivery.

Every BD player must realize the humiliation they had in the last few weeks, otherwise its gonna be the same old story again.

I am looking forward to see Tushar playing today. Having 9 first class centuries with a highest score of 198 isn't a easy thing to achieve. I wonder what happens to him when he plays international cricket. I think he needs to be more aggresive in the beginning. Most innings he played, he tried to settle in first then got out and thats why he has a test avg of only 6 and odi avg of 15. What he need to do is score a quick 20 runs and then settle to his own game..

You tell me how he will generate the pace to trouble SL batsmen, I have no doubt he is a good ODI bowler, but please analyze his action comparing to Mash or Rajib.
http://www.cricinfo.com/db/PICTURES/CMS/75300/75357.jpg

Anybody care to explain(bowling experts please) the action of rasel!
Unlike our two other pacers, he seems to be releasing the ball while running instead of taking a leap to generate momentum and release the ball. Even Rafique seems to be using more force to release the ball:

Even if you look at Masri or Rajib their bowling action and releasing the ball after taking that leap clearly indicates that they follow pacer's convetional runup but why Rasel bowls like that

Rasel bowls medium pace. Although he runs up from a significant distance he doesnt have a leaping stride to hurl the ball. It is right that he cant afford to generate grand pace, but I thought he has a better control due to this particular action (specially on bounce, length and variation). I dont believe Rafiq exerts more forces to deliver the ball, but Mash and Rajib have some traditional fast bowling stride. They leap at the end of their run-up to enhance the momentum.

Sakib wasn't in the last test, either, pal. I guess you will need to pillage the BCB selector's office ... you being a "cricketing pirate" and all :)

Thanks Sandpiper, but look at the following pics, how they generated so much pace

I believe they are just great and Rasel has long way to go.

uh.....wasim akram and chaminda vaas never generated a lot of pace. /:)
it's a whole lot more than rasel though....

July 10, 2007, 11:05 PM
Bowling not only depends on your style/step, it also depends on your physique and finger work. Both Wasim and Chaminda have a great configuration which is very condusive to the fast bowling. Wasim used to use a long run-up during the early stage of his career, he used to enjoy greater pace that time (in fact Irfan Pathan's bowling stride is very similar to those early days of Wasim). What I wanted to mean is Wasim and Chaminda could generate better pace due to their run-up, body configuration and the short leap at the penultimate moment before hurling the ball. As Wasim was more of a swing bowler, he could curtail his run-up during mid nineties to concentrate on accuracy (compromising with pace).

I believe they are just great and Rasel has long way to go.
