Tendulkar and Ganguly gave India a rocking start with a more than 100 runs partnership before Ganguly got out trying to accelerate. Now Yuvi is batting with Sachin with the score at 113. The RR is at 5.7 and Tendulkar looks in superb touch.

That six by Ganguly on a noball, lol. 17 runs in an over given by tremlett who replaced Panesar. :)

From Cricinfo,

David Glick: "What a great decision to replace Monty with Tremlett. I bet he's laughing..."

LMAO

Ah!! Tendu falls on 99. Sad missed another century. Controvercial out. The ball hit his arm guard. The question was did it brush his gloves before hitting the arm guard. The replays are inconclusive cricinfo reports.

Anything less than 350 would be a shame. Such a solid start. 185/2 32.3 overs.

Watching live on Sky, that was not out.

Liked the sarcastic smile of Tendulkar after the verdict. :)

India is now wasting the bright start, Dhoni should have been sent ahead of Dravid.

Watching live on ESPN ... India 214 for 2, approaching the 40th over. Let's see where UV and Dhoni set the target for the Poms, if Dravid takes one for the team at the appropriate time.

I guess they would take 99 and 49 any given day over whatever score they had the game before. It will be quite hard for India to lose this game from here considering they are playing with five bowlers today.

Sohel
August 24, 2007, 11:55 AM
Dravid's capable of being really aggressive on such a pitch ... he has to play his part and take the score to 330 ...

Tigers_eye
August 24, 2007, 11:57 AM
The 8 overs remaining should be shared by the three economical bowlers today. Broad, Flintoff and Anderson. Get ready for some harsh treatment.

Sohel

Dhoni's waiting for a few more deliveries it seems ...

Solanki trapped in the revolving door of county-country. Ramprakash will never get a recall and will remain a county wonder. Plus, he is old. England needs to introduce Adil Rashid, the fine legspinner cum batsman into the one day fold. Legspinners are valuable. Gives you the unknown factor with a nose for wkts...

They should get some batting practice now for the next game. No need to play hero. Knuckle down, bat, make them stay in the field for as long as possible for victory. Steve Waugh wrote in his book about such situations. It also works when going for an easy victory. Suppose, you are only chasing 194, with victory in sight and wkts intact, its better to go for the final runs in not such a hurry. Make the opponet 'enjoy' the ineviatble 'loss' for as long as possible. Didn't we do that vs India in WC?

They should get some batting practice now for the next game. No need to play hero. Knuckle down, bat, make them stay in the field for as long as possible for victory. Steve Waugh wrote in his book about such situations. It also works when going for an easy victory. Suppose, you are only chasing 194, with victory in sight and wkts intact, its better to go for the final runs in not such a hurry. Make the opponet 'enjoy' the ineviatble 'loss' for as long as possible. Didn't we do that vs India in WC?

Monty would get the same treatment if not worse because of the start India had.

Possibly, but a little variety couldn't have done much harm ...

Good showing by the England tail. They lost by 9 runs :) How important Dravid's six was?

Broad had Patel leak 20 runs in 4 balls of the last over. couldn't connect the other two.

How sad to see England lose by only 9 runs... but they played well. If only they formed a big partnership or one of the batsman scored a ton, they could have gone the distance. *sigh*

Ganguly would have made a century had Monty played. I hope he plays the next match.

Monty panesar is sooooooooooooooooooooooo over-rated like hell.

He is a medicre Left arm spinner in ODI, he's only had success in test matches

he would of been smacked way more by the indian opposition who have probably faced lots of slow left arms before of the same calibre.

The pitch didnt even have turn, nothing for spinners to capitilise on.

Monty would of just guaranteed Ganguly a quick century...really

how much has anderson improved as a bowler throughout the windies and india series i think he has become a great bowler for england in the last few months i wonder when or if harmison and hoggard return to the test side possibly in the series against sri lanka in december who will get the 3rd seamers place? sidebottom anderson broad tremlett? who knows?

also does anyone think panesar is over rated?

i don't think he is overrated, however, the genuine affection that englishmen have for him might well give the impression he is something more.

i don't want to see 'harmlessone' in an england shirt again. he is the overated one and should stick to bowling for durham.
