the chinese cut is sometimes known as a french cut. ofcourse, one expects the lower order batsment o produce these shots as they are seldom premeditated.

Cut
A cross-batted shot played at a ball wide on the off side (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off_side), slapping the ball as it passes the batsman so that it is hit in the region square or backward of square on the off side. Also the upper cut, deliberately cutting the ball over the slips, point (or over the gully region), and Chinese cut, accidentally cutting the ball with the inside edge so it escapes to the leg side

Aminul Islam Bulbul is the best Bangladeshi player who perfected the upper cut, next is Khaled Mashud. As for Chinese Cut, the most luckiest player of BD must be Aftab being at number 6 (this statement does not include his six in Cardiff - that was a perfect shot!) and if I go by wiki definition above he might have the highest number of inside edges - sometimes unlucky edge such as in Fatullah Test where we saw the real face of Ricky.

the upper cut is a really difficult shot to play. paul collingwood played it successfully in the recent ashes series but i dare say they were premeditated.

as for the chinese cut i used to really enjoy the batting of former england fast bowler devon malcolm. he was a genuine number 11 with little or no ability. he'd play at anything and frequently got chinese cuts to go to the boundary.
