View Full Version : Zimbabwe - better than BD ?

What do you guys think of Zimbabwe's performance ? They did pass 250 and 300, but McGrath was missing, and both Gillespie and McGill was missing for the better part of the second innings:-/

I still think their batting is stronger than us. Their batsmen have the mental strength to build up a partnership 7+ down. Ours does not.

Bowlling wise, we might be equal or slightly better.

zim may be better right at this moment and we can debate that all we want...my personal belief is we are gonna be better than them when we face them again...by then dav should have formed his core team having had a good look at all that is available at his disposal...frankly all these young players getting to play the poms excites me...just shows that our talent pool is rapidly growing....

Zimbabwe is (way?) ahead in batting and not because they scored 250+ against the aussies in both innings. As paco said, they didn't have to face the real aussie attack.

I'd rank our bowling at per, simpy because I have not seen zimbabwe in action in a long while and I don't know if we could continue with the limited attack that we have.

Our bowling would have compared quite favourably with Zimbabwe had they not had Heath Streak amongst their ranks. But Streak is a world class bowler, no doubt about it. He definitely tips the balance firmly on Zimbabwe's side.

As for batting, I think if we continue to improve as we have done in the last couple of series, we will be at par with Zimbabwe by the time we play them.

I think the series against Zimbabwe will be fascinating. It should be a great contest and if we play to our potential, we will hopefully see a Test win.

Bd is better in Test and Zim is better in ODI.

Can't really tell unless you set 'em to lock horns. On paper they look evenly matched. As Sham said, Heath Streak is a real world class bowler in their side. Taking Streak out of the side, I'd say BD is better than Zim. However, if you look at the prospects, we hold the upper hand. We have a big pond of talented cricketers coming up, and I do hope (believe) we will emerge as the 9th test team in the world (if not better). Even now I like to think of ourselves on par with them. Just hope that they don't do something silly against England like they did during the pre-whatmore era.

There is only one way of finding out about whos better of the two... If we win next time we face them... we are better... if we lose... no comments neceissory...

Zimbabweans fight more like tigers than Bangladesh has done until Dav. That sad, Bangladesh has been fighting almost true to the name.
My gut feeling is when BDs lock horns with Zimbos, Zimbos would come out on top. Why? Because their game usually raises against Bangladesh. So, wutever they do against Australia, will be doubled against Bangladesh. Are Bangladeshis good enough to handle that? We'll find out...

Today they got the full batting strength Australia all out which is we are incapable of.

We might not win for a longer time than we think.

WHY did they have to play Australia ? WHYYYYYYYY ?????????

Price did well against BD, after today's show, his confidence will be sky high.
