I hope WI bowls and fields like today against BD. Did u watch how SA played today? The played so easily and got boundaries without hitting too many risky shots. Of course extras helped them a lot but they did a magnificent job. I think it is a model innings how to play 20-20

After this defeat WI will be demoralised , so BD has advantage. Our bowlers will be more economical. Ash should rotate bowling among seven bowlers. I think Junaid will be a surprise inclusion as none of the team has his video clips yet.

Looking at the current performance, I will be a pessimistic here. Unfortunate to say, it all depends on an uncapped Nazimuddin. Since its only 20 over game, one good performance is enough to make a difference. Beside that Aftab and Ash has to justify their name. If this 3 fails against WI, we can say bye bye to the tournament as SA looked way too good for us today.

We need to score something lose to 200 to be competitive!!! I hope our batsmen will rise to the occasion. The indisciplined WI bowling attack should help us.

We cannot rely on Nazz, btw he is not uncapped, he has played two official twenty20 matches in the quadrangular series

1. I did not send a PM because I wanted everyone to know.

2. What is wrong is that these threads are often opened up prematurely just so the thread opener can have bragging rights of having created the original match thread, putting a limit on how early these threads can be opened puts a stop to the competition between forum users in who can be the first to open up an official match thread. Plus, what really can you have to say about a match almost 2 days in advance? It's better to have a fresh discussion a few hours in advance.

Reality check....

Guys, Wanderers Stadium is where the highest ODI and highest Twenty20 scores were achieved and this is where we will be playing our first match. Our team's highest T20 score is yet to reach anywhere near 200, I think WI will blow us apart unless we put our act together from word 'GO'. Sorry to be so negative but I just hope we don't lose like Kenya did today because that just might be the reality!

"It is very good that we had all the players fit for selection for this important match. We have had a nice preparation phase leading up to this competition and now the real game begins and we have to be at our full strength," said Ashraful.

"Obviously Gayle is their key batsman. But we are not targetting any particular player. In T20 you may get a major player out early but then someone else might turn up the heat when you least expect. All the players in their side are good cricketers and we are a good team also. We just have to play our natural game and stay focused in all three departments. The outfield at the Wanderers is like a carpet so balls will come fast. So the fielders also have be on their toes all the time," said Ashraful.

I have been scoring runs in the warm-up matches and hopefully that will continue. I have faced the Pakistan attack which I consider among the best in the world and that has given me a lot of confidence. But in Twenty20 you can not say that this is a good bowling side and this is not. The West Indies are experienced in this form of the game but I will play my natural game," said Nazimuddin

So, in this case we can be sure that nothing is very predictable in 20/20 format, never know who is favorite... So we can be sure that we got chance to beat any team in this format anytime as vice versa..

Thats what is great about Twenty20 cricket: anyone can win. We have to be confident that we can win then and only then we will win. We cannot go into a match thinking that WI is great and we have no chance. If we really believe we can win, we WILL win.

With all due respect to WI, if Zimbabwe can beat Australia, BD should able to do similar upset tomorrow! Go BD go……….!

Of all the teams who have played so far, Zimbabwe was by far the most excellent in bowling and fielding and this is what won them the match against Australia. One player took care of the batting to win the match with the other players chipping in. They played as a whole unit, they used their head and remained calm and this is what won them the match. Reminds me of another match 2 years ago in Cardiff where OZ was beaten by BD, but there BD chased the runs.
Probably, BD players watched this match and I hope that they can use their cricket smarts and most of all not to panic.

Inshallah, lets just give them our blessings and good wishes and make a special Dua for them.

West Indies are clear favourites, so Bangladesh could take some risks as they have nothing to lose... bat aggressively and get rid of Gayle and another upset could be on the rise!

A team which has always succeeded to take everyone by surprise with some scintillating wins and that too which find themselves in the record books. Bangladesh is a side which always goes into tournaments as upset specialists and their entry in the Super 8s of the ICC World Cup 2007 was a glowing example. However, in one of the warm ups before the T20 World Cup, they were made to taste their own medicine when Kenya pulled off a win against them. This side is brimming with exuberant talent which has never really justified itself on a regular basis with Mohammad Ashraful topping the charts. Bangladesh have loads to prove and this is probably their best opportunity to advance into the second round and make a point to the whole world that the World Cup feat was no fluke.
Players to watch out for: Mohammad Ashraful, Aftab Ahmad and a new face Nazimuddin who had a great time in the Quadrangular Twenty20 In Kenya.

No intention of diverting this thread into some religious expostulations, but I'll say this: forummers who are always on the "look out" for religious comments and "jump" on them for being religious on a "Secular" forum, you guys need to start processing the fact that, yes, the FACT that the majority of forummers here are Muslim. If comments reflect that, don't try to suppress it. It's not necessarily "preaching," just another reflection of what we are. My two cents.

Hoping for a scintillating performance by the Tigers, indeed.

Doesnt say anywhere in the Quran that you can't celebrate due to ramadan. Eitheway you certainly can after you break you fast.

my point is that we should never overcelebrate whether it is ramadhan or not because it increases ego and that leads to downfall of both the fans and the whole team. never jump and forget everything in temporary success such as beating the #1 team once in a while, that just proves we can play better on any given day on any given situation. my point was that we should keep our cool no matter what and start dreaming big, but no bashing/hurting players feelings if they underperform. players can underperform for a variety of reasons, sometimes things that they have no control on...(like a sick child or preganat wife, too much pressure, overanalyzing the game and maybe lack of patience and proper execution of the game)there is a connection... in the quantum world for what we think, believe and how it influences the environment, so always expect the best thing that can happen to you and the players by succumbing our Bengali environment in a friendly atmosphere, so that we can expand our cultural value and so can the team have exponential improvement.

Sigh ... let's not start another secularism vs the rest of the world debate here :)

As Myself:
Sauron must have ducats burning his pockets - $99 willow subscription for a glorified batting session? Wanderers pitch will make any bowler want to wander and its size and fast outfield will overwhelm our feeble armed fielders.

I am very pessimistic about the outcome. Even if Gail doesn't fire, DR Smith or Marlon will and anyways, Chanders and Sarwan will run us ragged. As for our batting, asides from Kapali, we really don't have any good "placer" in the side to find the gaps. Then there's Masree's tendency to stay with his natural, back-of-a-length stuff which is murder during slogathons.

Anyway, y'all watching desikotha?

Bangladesh will fancy their chances in this shortened version of the game. They have some good hitters: Nazimuddin, Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Ashraful can pack a punch. The passionate folks at Bangladesh cricket forum (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/forumdisplay.php?f=4) are quite upbeat. On the other hand, folks at the Caribbean Cricket forum (http://caribbeancricket.com/forums/1) sound pretty angry about their team's performance the other day. Marlon Samuels is in the doghouse there.
