With reference to the upcoming series what are the favourite fielding spots (or are there any spots taken up by BD players based on their good performance in that area).
Wicketkeeper
Slip
Gully
Point
Cover
Third Man
Fine Leg
Mid Off
Mid wicket
Square leg
Generally crucial fielding places are taken up by experienced and good catchers. For example,
-Silly point and Covers are reserved for the best catchers in the team.
-Slips would also require good reaction.
-Mid off a place for captains to be positioned.

I know that Habibul Bashar fields at the slip region (because he has been dropping a lot of catches over the years in test cricket in that area).

We see Tapash Baisya or Mashrafee Murtoza sometimes fielding at the 3rd man or fine-leg area - when they're bowling, sometimes Mashrafee fields in the mid-off, long off area, Hannan fields at the mid off, long off, mid on, long on areas too (he misfielded in one day cricket).

Alok Kapali fields in gully or point position.

Rafique sometimes fields at the 3rd man or fine leg area.

I am not certain if Sujon always fields at either mid on or mid off area - where a captain should field.

Rafique has been fielding in the slips a bit recently
And Sujon often puts himself at cover or mid-wicket

A thread from 2003? Wow. But the topic is still relevant I guess.

On topic- Shabbir needs to field at Point if he plays and Mominul is our best fielder for short leg. Shakib should be fielding inside the circle. The others are quite interchangable. Thankfully there's no worry about hiding Razzak and Shahadat this time.

We have so many young guys in the team, fieldingwise we should be one of the best. There should be no excuse here. Try to save 20-30 runs by fielding

Surprisingly tamim has always been a good boundary rider.

We were a good fielding unit not so long ago. As of recent, the players dont seem to practise fielding any more.

Im afraid with large boundaries, it might tire out our somewhat fit players.

Lets see.

Good fielding is probably influenced by three factors

1) The Skill
2) Fitness
3) Motivation

We ll find out about the fitness and motivation aspect tomorrow.

I think the skill level should be better than before. We ve got a world class fielding coach in Richard Halsall. Probably the best and most qualified fielding coach we have ever worked with.

sometimes I wonder like batting & bowling is fielding a natural skill/talent.
I mean without any talent you can not become as good as AB Devilliers or Shane Warne or Wasim.
But is it the same for fielding? or is it something that anyone can learn and become the next Johnty Rhodes, in that case why are there very good fielders and very poor fielders in the same team ?

no fielding is about athelticism. If you are not a good athlete you cannot be a good athlete. Thats why we use baseball training drills for fielding, because American sports are athletism/physical
physical oriented over skill.
