A little over 13 days to go. Probably going to be backing la Raptors again due to geographical ties, although I hardly miss a chance to diss them and point out how much they suck.

Still ruing missing an opportunity to get Vince Carter to sign my New Jersey Nets cap earlier today. Then again, will be backing the Raptors when I go to watch 'em play on Nov 2. Such a wicked bastard I am.

Who would you put your money on?

Spurs - Dallas - Phoenix. The usual suspects from the West.

Boston - Detroit - King James (by himself) - Miami (if the gamblers put enough money they will reach the finals - by hook or by crook). I feel Chicago missed a chance on Garnett.

East will be much more interesting and clearcut than you think. Cleveland and Miami may falter , Detroit may decline, Boston may disapoint. They are all above average and not much better than Chicago, Washington or NJ....

its anybody's game in the East.

Washington and NJ would be happy if they win their division. Heck if they stay above 500.

I don't know much about NJ, but don't under-estimate Washington in the east. If (there is a big IF though) key players are healthy, this team will surprise lots of people. This season they have significanly upgraded their reserves, therefore the top 5 will need to play less than before.

3rd year man 6' 11" Andrey Blatche ( straight from high school ) is deveping very well. This is his season to show his skills.

This will be Pecherov's (7') 1st season in NBA. But he is well known comodity in Europe. Alreay showing his merit in warmup games. Very versatile ( range, scoring and ball handling) and very good as a rebounder.

2nd round pick McGuire is already proving himslef a contributer in defence. Last night he had 6 block shots, Coaches are already saying he is NBa ready and will be a contributer (in some capacity) in this season.

1st rounder Nick Young has a very good long term potential. But may only contribute once in a while. he is very good offensive player, need to adjust to NBA defence though. May take a full season.

Danial and Songaila played very well together from end of last season. Last year Songaila was injured (at the begining of the innings). This year he is healthy and having a very good preseason so far.

Plus Arenas (starter), Jamison (starter) and Butler (starter) are all healthy now. They all were injured at the end of the season including the playoff games.

The only weak point is Haywwod at Center. However so far he is playing better than last few years.

It may be all hype, but so far what I am seeing (pre-season games) and what I am reading in local news-paper, this team is supposed to do much better than last season (when they stated very well but ended badly with 1st round play-off exit.

I expect Washington to win close to 50 games if the Starters are healthy.

I am not underestimating Washington. I haven't seen much about them. Specially the names you mentioned except the European center I don't think they will have any impact (would not be consistant - BD cricket team problem). Haywood should be better than last year. For 50 game winning season Gilbert needs to lightup the arena or else... no way. How old is Jamison? Don't expect him to play 75+ games. What is this testing the free agency deal going on with Gilbert? Unhappy players tend to be selfish and pad up their stats. Should make the playoffs, well may not depending how well Orlando does. :)

Chicago, Washington, Miami all winless. Durant looks good, Knicks gonna be a force in the east they'd be top 5 easy if they tried to play D like they did yesterday in the 4th Qtr. Isiah is a genius when it comes to the draft, He's finally got talent and depth on this team

The Celtics are serious too

Washington fans are having tough time with reality. They will win some because they have Arenas. His contract negotiation is the key. He will play like the GA we all saw in the past.

Surprise hornets. That southwest division is a tough tough place. No team in the East looks like can compete with the west leaders as of yet. Boston!!! Hmmm!! We'll see, the season is too long.

Celtics up to 3-0! WOOOT! Reminds me of something i posted here a few days ago:

The Pats will crush Indianapolis. Hell, Id say theyve got a shot at going undefeated this season... Great year for us Bostonians :) First the Sox, then BC, now this. Now if only the Celtics can surprise us and not suck...

Aah, life is sweet :D

BC is done.
Celtic? We will see. I don't think anyone from the east will win.
Pats..We will see..
Left out Bruins? by mistake?

BC, lol, wait till they lose to clemson. They won'te even win their division let alone conference.

Celtic band wagon seems like getting a boast from the Media? King James can single handedly tear up celtics any time if he chooses to.

Aww.. I see quite a few Boston bashers over here. Thats fine. Its the mark of a good team. I dont need all my teams to go all the way. BC went up to #2. Thats more than enough for me. Im not too picky.;) Current Patriots are arguably one of the best teams in NFL history. The undefeated '72 dolphins had to play only 14 games, and only 1 of which against a side with a winning record. If Patriots go all the way, they will be THE best team in NFL history. Theyre more than halfway there. The Sox have a side which many people have already called one of the best in MLB history. At this point, all i can say is Bruins who?

Celtics are definitely not the best, not even close. But as long as theyre better than they were the last few years, Im more than happy.

And you guys have a tough schedule! AFC East is a joke. Four games vs Miami and Jets!

Ok. Let me put this in quantitative terms. Pats face 10 teams with PCT's over .500. Dolphins faced one. 'Nuff said...

By the way, Ive got one more team to add to my list. The NE revolution soccer team just made it to the cup final :) Cmon, you guys can deny it all you want but theres no arguing the fact that Boston just had an absolutely astounding year in sports. No city has even come close to something like this...

Err...Not to sound cocky and all...but BOSTON STILL FLYING HIGH AT 7-0. :joy:Garnett leads the race to the MVP rankings...Which isnt necessarily good news considering how the season ended for the past 10 MVP's....But meh.....Ill take it anyway...:D

Hello Magic. For a while i thought there would be comparison of 72 win season. Okay okay I'll stop. Good start Celts. 8-1. Ainge is the man right now.

Theyve been playing Garnett way too much. The man isnt exactly young. That being said, not a bad start at all. Needless to say better than last year. I still have nightmares about that year#:-S

The Hawks are up and rising even though they are 3-7. They beat Dallas and Phoenix. By the end of the year, everyone will know about the dynamic duo of Joe Johnson and Josh Smith!!

Hawks are a player shot from challenging the elite consistantly. I like Joe. He is from Little Rock Central High went to Univ of Arkansas. :)

Wizzard back to 500.

5th win in a row...and they are doing it without Agent Zero. NBA is a marathon not a sprint... so lets see how far they can go.

What's up with New Orleans? at home 4-4. On the road 8-2?

Magic is looking like a strong contender for the south east division title.

Miami's performance is puzzling. Shaq should retire now. And Chicago? I see some firing or trading in near future. This team was suppose to challege the west teams.

The land scape has changed a lot since I posted on this thread.

LA Lakers got Paul Gasol (7' 1") from Memphis. With Bynum they would pose a real threat to anybody in the western conference. And then there is Kobe.

To counter that Phoenix made a move. They got the big daddy "Shaq" while giving up Marion. I think this was a good move. With Barbosa and Diaw coming along I think they will benefit from what ever Shaq can contribute. I may be the only one who like this trade.

Boston did stumble few times. All coming along with New Orleans. Very surprising what Byron Scotts team is doing in West. The blazers aparently cooled off a little.

In three weeks three blockbuster trades for three western teams. Dallas joins LA and Phoenix. SA now must deal. One week left before the trade deadline.

Current deal: Jason Kidd, Malik Allen will come to Dallas. Dallas will give up wow so many: Devon Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagna Diop, Maurice Ager and $3 million to New Jersey. NJ will buyout Stackhouse's contract so that he can join back to Dallas as a free agent. Dallas is also giving up two first round picks (now this is a bad move).

Devean George just blocked the trade, the question I have is how can a scrub player like Devean George have Veto powers?

Anyways :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: at the Mavs

Dallas can send a thank you letter to Devon George later. This deal is not even fair. Dallas will give up way too many pieces for Kidd.

Davean's agent was a key figure in negating the trade, claiming that he (Davean) just started his career in Dallas, and that he needs a stable growth.

All-Star weekend, anyone ? Regardless of how much I distaste the game of basketball (follow it nonetheless, along with other major league sports in North America), I always thought NBA's all-star competitions are more serious and better overall than NHL's.

So the west race is picking up. 9 teams within 5 games. Any team in a 3 game losing streak and they would find themselves out of the playoff picture. It is that intensed. I haven't seen anything like this before.

1st, Utah got Kyle Korver 6'6" SF from Philly. That white boy can shoot lights out. Additional scorer from the bench.

2nd, Lakers get Paul Gasol 7'0" C from Memphis dirt cheap. Jerry west helping out his old Lakers.

3rd, Phoenix matches size for size, get Diesel 7'0" C from Miami. The price tag was 40 Million for the next two years.

4th, Dallas gets Jason Kidd giving away future to New Jersey and Cash. lol, Cuban don't care for cash.

5th, Spurs slaps Lakers, and gets size inside Kurt Thomas. Well dirt cheap has new meaning now. Seattle gave him up. The GM and coach was a spurs guy last year, lol.

6th, Hornets, the surprized leader of the pack could not wait any longer. To keep up with these shoddy deals that is going on the west, they had to upgrade. In comes Bonzi Wells and Mike James from Rockets. They will give up Bobby Jackson.

Transfer deadline is nearing I think some more moves are possible. This has been crazy year for trades.

For the first time, I am following NBA really close. Maybe because of nba fantasy that I am playing but I love it. East is embarrasing. I am a big fan of Chris Paul and hope Hornets go all the way. If I had to bet on any team, it would be Lakers. Kobe, Gasol, Odam and healthy Bynum look really scary to me. Spurs are favorite as usual and Kurt Thomas deal will definitely help. Shaq looked pretty good last night but for some reason, Nash is not the same this year. Utah and Denver can be this year's Golden State. Deron Williams can play. If Denver gets Ron Artest, things will get even more interesting.

I think the Hawks can finally make the playoffs this year since we got Mike Bibby and because we are in the East.
PG- Mike Bibby
SG- Joe Johnson
SF- Josh Smith
PF- Marvin Williams
C- Al Horford

That is a pretty potent lineup.

As much as I dislike Patriots, I would start supporting Celtics if they get Sam Cassell. They i would have two players in their roster that I love (KG and Sam I am) and one I like (Allen).

Brent Barry is going back to Spurs? Why can this not be similar to Stackhouse deal?

Because he is not stupid and loud mouth like Stackhouse.

Because he is not stupid and loud mouth like Stackhouse.
All he did was include Phoenix's name beside San Antonio and we all know he will go to San Antonio. The man has a house and family there!! Duh!! NBA officials are all jokers.

haha...NBA I was addicted to this, back in BD when I was unemployed...I used to wake up and eat breakfast while watching the NBA show which had highlights of all the games for hours and hours on my sofa every morning... but I cant see it anymore in England...so whats going on nowadays? Kobe Bryant still the best?Whatever anyone says Lakers are the best team of all-time and they will always have my support.

This is the tightest race to the playoffs I have ever seen or heard of.

In the Western conference there are 9 teams within 6 games with only 12 games left to be played. Even the 9th seed Denver would have easy home court advantage had they been in the eastern conference. Hard to believe that New Orleans are still leading the western conference. Hats of to Byron Scott. What ever he is selling our BD cricket team needs it.

East is boasting two teams with 70+% winning. This season is just heating up.

Interesting:
West's #9 team didn't make the playoffs. Had Golden State been in East, they would be #4 team and would have home court advantage in the first round.

So basically West has much better teams overall.

But two east teams Boston and Detroit, if any of them make the finals they would have home court advantage over any team coming out of west.

The final should be interesting, nevertheless.

I dislike the Lakers and their fans. Most of them are too cocky. Dislike Kobe. So if they come out from the west then I am not watching the finals. My team Dallas has no prayers against the Ex-Laker Byron Scott's team. Still hopefull for a miracle.

Houston won once when they were #6. So did Miami. Dallas is #7.
