BBC's messageboard is ridiculous. I think this board is way more mature and has more variety in posts than BBC's 'international' messageboard.

October 16, 2003, 11:22 PM
I meant BBC's England message board. The international is full of sicko Pak and indians doing their usual boring thing. Anyway they are closed.

What happened to Talha Jubair - I thought we were playing with 12. Why is he not even in the radar or accompanying the U-19 team?

Amongst the threee pacers in the side I would have thought talha has the greatest pace...should we have opened with him?

Have you guys tried crickinfo - it must be one of those days when you have to walk over to the server and fetch the data yourself (Who was it here that said that?). 3 test matches are on plus our little affair. cricketnext is better at live commentary but no coverage of our match. anyway, got to get some sleep tonight, hope we can do some further damage soon.

Is Whatmore magic working on him too?

He used to be somebody who is either too expensive or too defensive - not to take any wickets.

Suddenly he has the courage to stay at the wicket for 23 balls, then he takes 2 early wickets - what the hell is going on with him?

Captain Michael Vaughan was England's early casualty today as they attempted to claim important batting practice in the final warm-up match before the start of the first Test against Bangladesh next week.

Vaughan was dismissed for one and was quickly followed by Paul Collingwood as England slipped to three for two in reply to Bangladesh A's 242 on the second day of their three-day match at the Academy Ground.

Yorkshire batsman Vaughan lasted only 10 minutes at the crease before falling lbw to seamer Alamgir Kabir with a full length delivery which kept low.

And three balls later the same bowler accounted for Durham all-rounder Collingwood for a duck.

Today's disappointment continues a poor run of first-class scores since Vaughan took over as England captain as a replacement for Nasser Hussain last summer.

He failed to pass 50 in his eight innings as captain against South Africa last summer and although he batted nearly two hours for his 36 in the opening tour game against a President's line-up last week, he is yet to record a major score since taking over the responsibility of leading the side.

England 87/4 - Thorpe lbw b Tareq Aziz 13

Is the wicket helping the seamers or are the English throwing away their wickets?

I know Tareq Aziz is not such a bad bowler, but he is not that good.

Sham
October 17, 2003, 12:39 AM
Well, they aren't throwing away their wickets if they are getting out LBW. Maybe the ball is keeping low, that could be the case.

However, we shouldn't reach any conclusions by just looking at scorecards. We should wait till the match reports.

Sham
October 17, 2003, 12:40 AM
Aziz may not be the best bowler in the world but that doesn't mean he can't get a batsman like Thorpe out once in a while.

Probably they are paying the price for being afraid or just being too laidback about a preparatory (sp) match.

Nobody wants to be the first victim of the team that has gone on to break the test loosing record.

Kana-Baba

I think the balls are keeping a bit low. Thatís not surprising at all; as all the Bangladeshis are soft-hearted and so does our soil (pitch) !:)

Man, thats good. Read is gonna offer some resistance but we should be able to get them out for about 250.

However, our spinners are getting murdered! Fahim has bowled 6 overs for 38 and Rubel has bowled 3 for 22! Talha needs another bowl! I was happy to read that he got Hussain out with a ball that bounced higher than Hussain expected! :)

Sham
October 17, 2003, 02:24 AM
And whats up with Tresco and his 90s? Two innings, two scores in the 90s. I hope he doesnt get third time lucky and score a 100 in the first Test.

Sham

I'll be disappointed if we let Clark play a long innings and have him go into the First Test full of confidence!

fwullah
October 17, 2003, 02:29 AM
Some of our 'A' team pacers are good (especially Talha) but they are not not that good to take 3 lbw decisions.

I hope our umpires are not acting like they usually do in domestic matches.

fwullah
October 17, 2003, 02:32 AM
Is Alamgir Kabir suddenly started bowling better than he does - watching his chance to attract the selector's attention?

3 lbs out of 5 does not sound good to me. :(

Sham
October 17, 2003, 02:52 AM
I really hope its not the umpires!! So far, none of the match reports say anything about bad decisions. Even though they don't have the luxury of tv replays, you can tell these things by looking at the batsmen's reaction. If the batsmen haven't shaken their heads and stomped off the ground (trust me they would have written about that), I think the umpires have been alright.

Orpheus
October 17, 2003, 02:56 AM
But Hussain could have claimed to be slightly distracted after play had been briefly held up 10 minutes earlier when a killer cobra was found slithering in the grass and sent the crowd scurrying for safety.

Several spectators averted a possible attack by battering the 4ft snake to death with chairs and prompted coach Duncan Fletcher, Collingwood and Chris Read to investigate its remains only to witness Hussain's demise as they made their way back.

lol - is it bravery or stupidity? They killed a 4-feet long cobra with chairs?? LMAO - Damn Bangalees Bravo!!! Bravo!!!

Few days ago, I think I read somewhere that locals beat a Royal Bengal Tiger to death. What's wrong with these people? Call the zoo keeper or something-I don't know!

Everytime I read the name Batty, I laugh my head off. For those of you who don't know, Batty is slang for gay in England! Not that I have anything against gays, but boy, this guy must have gotten teased at school with a name like that. Its like someone in American being called Fag!

Sham

Looks like they are gonna take a first innings lead. BD A needs to get Read out quickly.

There may be a problem with Kabir. He only bolwed three balls of his 14th over and then Rajin finished the over for him. I hope its just a cramp or something and not a more serious injury. And I really hope it wasn't the other way round, Rajin getting injured and Kabir having to finish his over!

In brooklyn you would call 911. Here is an example of thinking for savar situation.

Since it's an international match, there are security personels with guns right.. You know what you do - you run to the nearest security guy (they should be NEAR you) - you tell em. He will shoot that cobra! OK? or do whatever at his own discretion ... His Job is to secure the place.. Do you know how retarted it is to hit the snake with a chair?
