I looked for this kind of thread but couldn't find it so I thought I would create a new thread.

In this thread you guys could share your encounters with the players from the national team no matter when, where, at what stage they were in at the moment, etc. You could share stories from your experiences with other country's team players too. I am posting my experiences first.

My experiences:

K Mashud(Pilot): I went to my cricket academy and what do I see? Khaled Mashud a.k.a Pilot practicing at our nets. I quickly went over at the nets to make sure I wasn't dreaming and I wasn't. Mashud was batting while my friends were bowling to me. My coach asked me if I wanted to bowl too and I couldn't say no. So we practiced with him while he gave us some instructions and tips. At the end of the day he answered couple of my questions and gave me his autograph.

H Bashar(Sumon): I met Habibul Bashar the former national team captain at a mall called Rifles Square. He was sitting right behind me and my uncle and suddenly my uncle told me that Bashar was sitting right behind us. I turned around and I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw Bashar behind us. On the way out my uncle congratulated Bashar on the India win(We won a match against India on the TVS cup or something like that) and I also congratulated him. I asked him a couple of questions and got his autograph.

H Sarkar & M Ashraful : they also came to my cricket club to practice with us. Hannan Sarkar was really quiet while on the other hand Ashraful was talking a lot with my coaches. We practiced with them all day and at the end we discussed some stuff and questioned them about some stuff. I also got autograph from them and told them how he has been one of my guru(idol) since I was a kid and etc. They also appreciated our support. My coach also told him that if he doesn't score a century next match then he would get Ashraful to join our group(the junior group. The group I was on) and I think he did get a century the next game.

I got autograph from all these guys but unfortunately I left it in Bangladesh so I couldn't show you guys.

Now share your experiences!!:)

I met Shanto, who's my friend's cousin's friend...we watched a mini-WC match together. Pretty decent guy, I should add. :)

Other than that, also met Imran Khan, and shook hands with him as I introduced myself as Imran too.

Met Aminul Islam (captain at that time) and his friend once; went up to him for an autograph; told him they better beat kenya in the upcoming meryll (sp?) cup. Aminul was as confident as ever: "Arey Kenya kono bepari na..."

two weeks later, we lost to kenya and zimbabwe and couldn't make it to the finals. loijja, loijja.

I met akram khan, khaled mashud, aminul islam, khaled mahmud and naimur rahman at this practice match back in 1998 in glasgow against scotland and we got pictures taken with them, and i also got gordon greenidges autograph on that same occasion as he was national team coach of course at the time. I wasnt too fond of cricket at the time, but was pretty excited lolz..

I met javed omar and got his autograph just after the famous win over australia in cardiff, and this year saw bashar in this supermarket , standing there waiting for his wife, but no one seemed to give a damn of his presence..wonder why??? lolz

Me and my friend were practising at Abahani looooong time ago. Shujon was getting hammered by a batsman. When our ball walked to their pitch, he went ballistic at us.

Unfortunately I have not met any Bangladeshi players yet possibly in near future. But I have met Javed Miandad when he came to UK I cant remeber which year, he used to frequently visit a casino club where I worked. Also met Kapil Dev who was checking out from a hotel near my work place

Zahid's Abanahoni maath reminded me of Atahar Ali Khan...I used to see him during our practice sessions. He used to warm up with pads on, and even after we were done with our practice and batting sessions, he wouldn't stop warming up. I wonder what's the temperature of his body that it takes so long for him to warm up!

I have so many memories it would become another valdi mamu classic if is started writing all of them...
Some golden moments:
Seating at the same table at Nasu bhai's wedding ceremony with whole nation team. I had Akram Khan the captain on my left and ather on my right and i didn't eat at all as i was looking at them and AK was giving me food every time he was getting some for him self and yes that was a many times...
Many INdian/SL players used too practice AT my club with my elder brother when there was any hartal or something...
One time I was joking so much that indian guy who commentates now (for got his name from culcatta) I never realized that you r such a comedian... And i was making raman lamba and him laughing their *** off. We were watching a abahani vs victory game at abahani ground and my causin was the captain of abahani at that time.

I was star struck when sallahuddin started talking with me and asked me my name three times and i didn't answer him :(... I was a big shot (felt that way) cause my cousin, i would go to practice with him just see them all and also for the good food they would provide after practice... Munna bhai and aslam was other note-ables...

I played against and with shanto when he was very little like in grade 8 or 9. We had another pacer who had more pace than shanto. but he was druggi so he didn't continue but he would bowl really really fast...

I don't know any of the new guys though....

pilot, akram khan, bulbul and some others that I cant recall @ Abahani field. We used to play there and these guys used to play (practice) for Abahani.

remember talking to pilot (well not talk talk) like we kids circled around him and he was saying sth (??) really fast.... hehe....

then there was some sort of a family event in Pan Pacific Sonargaon during the Mini World Cup in Dhaka. There was the England team & West Indies team around us and there there was a game going on a projection TV. They were watching it, so were we. Didnt get any autograph....
