Groups For 2009 Twenty20 World Cup Announced
India, the 2007 champions, will take on Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in Group A in 2009.

The groupings for the 2009 Twenty20 World Cup, to be held in England, have been announced after the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board met in Dubai.

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had asked for the groups to be laid out well in advance in order for them to proceed with organising the tournament and deciding which venues will host.

As no rankings officially exist for Twenty20 cricket, the groups were based on finishing positions at the 2007 tournament in South Africa. Group A sees reigning champions India taking on Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, Pakistan will meet hosts England and a qualifier in Group B, while Group C promises to be hotly contested, containing Australia, Sri Lanka and the West Indies with Group D consisting of New Zealand, South Africa and a qualifier.

Well some people here are getting cocky, but when I said we'll go to the second round in style, what I really meant was that this is probably the easiest group that we could be in, where a win is likely, but certainly not guaranteed, in one or both games. I'm sure many would agree with that, lol.

I guess members are really getting carried away here with all these unwanted and cocky remaks. We must not be complacent and Inshallah Bangladesh will do well,.

India and Zimbabwe will be playing to progress to the next stage also, so it will be a stiff competition, but 2 yrs is still a long time away. BD has to concentrate on so many tournaments before this and hopefully in between they will play 20/20 matches also.
