they are updating it periodically (every 10-15 minutes?!?!) on this site (http://www.sportinglife.com/cricket/scorecard/6389.html)

Omar has broken the duck...I hope he scores big to get some confidence before the first test....

Nafis on the way to a repeat performance?
Why are'nt the english letting collingwood bowl more? His figs look decent. Also, I fear Thorpe and Hussain are "just" warming up for the 1st test, those batting figures really don't reflect their lethal potential.

I'd like to see if BD "A" can up the run rate a bit without losing wickets.

tiger_2007
October 17, 2003, 11:27 PM
England's attack struggled to make inroads and after 40 minutes play, the A team had progressed to 24 without loss, with Nafis reaching 19 while Javed had advanced to an unbeaten four.

pagol-chagol

why worry about run rate? Do you think the test might not be over in 5 days?

Pretty solid start by the BD A batsmen. These two need to build a large partnership. This is Aftab's chance.

Mahmood
October 18, 2003, 12:04 AM
They should both try hard. A good innings here will boost their confidence in test.

Nafis could have been a good choice also.

Upal
October 18, 2003, 12:14 AM
I think Nafees should have been selected for the first test. He had a better avg than Rajin in the u-23 tour of Sri Lanka with a 150 in one of the matches. This guy is truly deserving of a chance and his century against England was no fluke.

I really hope he gets into the ODI side in this series and comes into the test squad for the big Zim series early next year.

damn, Aftab failed in both innings'. I'm not sure if he is a better choice over Nafis....

and its disappointin to see Rajin get out for 1.

I will be satisfied if we can end up with a draw for this match.

Mahmood

Ok, now I am worried about Rajin. The fame might have pulled another Ash in him.

It does seem that Nafis was a better choice.

The collapse continues.

Why doesn't cricinfo have live coverage of the England match when it does for all these other "unimportant" games going on......

Zobair
October 18, 2003, 01:09 AM
Batty seems to be the spinner to watch out for in the first test....hmmm....

Aftab disappointing...but he obviously made an effort to stay at the crease as long as he could...may be he overcompensated and got bogged down...these are early days..

Rajin...first time he got out so quickly...we should hold on to our judgements...I don't think success got to his head or anything...he doesn't look the sort...besides he has spent too much time trying to get in to the team to just give it all away like that..

Javed Omar...standing tall in the midst of a collapse...hope he gets the team out of the crisis situation....on teh plus side this seems like a rather determined tail...hopefully sunny and mossaddek can recreat their first day's magic :)

We need to bat well after tea to ensure a draw....hopefully we will just bat out the overs...

Says rain has stopped play! Sucks. Javed could have done with the batting practice.

Sham
October 18, 2003, 01:49 AM
Sportinglife.com says the game is drawn. Must be pouring out there! Oh well, thats disappointing.

I was hoping to see a good batting display today, especially from Golla, Aftab and Rajin. But it wasn't to be. Anyway, they have all spent some time out in the middle between the last match and this one. Hopefully they will peak at the right time, in two days time.

Dissapointment from Rajin and Aftab. Nafis must be feeling unlucky. still don't understand the selectors fascination with mushfiq. I have a feeling that if he is picked, he will do moderately well just to pip us off.

Based on this, the test matches should be FUN and I am not going to make any predictions because ... cricket is the glorious game of uncertainity and blah blah blah.

Nasif
October 18, 2003, 02:17 AM
I truely hope Rajin is not anothe Ash in the making :(

Aftab's inclusion in the test squad went into his head, too excited to do good in practice. Atleast Javed stayed there for a while. Good to see him in the runs. This should give him enough confidence for the first test.

Sham
October 18, 2003, 02:23 AM
Before the start of the tour, we were all predicting a lot of runs from the English batters. I still think they will score pretty heavilly, but these matches have proved that our bowlers can get top line-ups out. That should encourage our bowlers, especially Mashrafe and Rafiq.

If our batsmen can put runs on the board, this will be a very interesting Test series.

Zobair
October 18, 2003, 02:39 AM
There was a time, our front-line bowlers couldn't bowls even half a side out...now our virtual under-19 side and A-side bowled a test side out twice in two matches....the juniors have set the standards...particularly in the bowling department but also a couple of big knocks have shown that it shouldn't be impossible to get some decent scores on the board...the seniors don't have much to hide behind...

Sham
October 18, 2003, 03:03 AM
Exactly! Whatever these guys did, the senior will know that they will have to come out and better it.

I hope Whatmore had someone with a camera taping every minute of these last two matches. Our players need to see exactly how the English have been batting, what type of shots they have been playing in these conditions and exactly how the bowlers are bowling, especially Batty, who is a bit of an unknown.

I wonder if Batty took offense to Naf's big talk about them being 'very much ordinary.' Oh well, atleast Nafees didn't get out to him in this innings.

BangladeshCricket
October 18, 2003, 07:50 AM
Nafis's commnets indeed got us...three wickets fell and we didn't have any specialist batsmen left...so i guess this match would have been over soon...yea i agree with yuou guys that inclusion of Aftab and even Rajin's performance worrying me for the upcoming test...:(

Upal
October 18, 2003, 11:18 AM
Collingwood pulled a Vince Carter on that pic. That's gotta be atleast a metre high. This guy has some massive hops!!!

pagol-chagol
October 18, 2003, 01:57 PM
The camera angle (from the ground) is making him look high. Its not that high. He also has his legs folded - making him look higher. Also the ball is behind him. Why the hell is he jumping at all?

Sham
October 18, 2003, 03:03 PM
Yeah, he looks high because of the camera angle.

Pagol Chagol, when you are fielding at silly point and a batsman goes for a full-blooded drive, you don't wait to see where the ball is before you jump. You just jump!

Upal

pagol-chagol
October 18, 2003, 04:53 PM
That looks like a straight drive to me. Far from anything to do with the silly point. I am sure he had his reasons.

Sham
October 19, 2003, 04:59 AM
Look at where is toes are pointing, that will give you a good indication of where he is trying to hit it.
