I don't think the team has room for Tushar Imran. This is why. Two openers, followed by Aftab, Sakib, Ash, Rahim, Reza, Mash, Raj, Rasel and I will take another pacer.

I agree with you. Sure, Imran probably needs a few chances and the coach probably likes him, but I think Reza's more valuable at the moment, and Mushy should definitely play at 3 - especially in conditions like the ones in NZ where he seems to flourish (e.g. the century in England).

Beamer
December 16, 2007, 12:14 AM
In Tests, maybe, and he will probably get a chance to bat at no.3. But, in ODI's, our success ( whatever we have so far ) has come when Aftab played at no.3 during the power plays and he really is the best answer. You can try Rahim, if you want, but, I would rather have Rahim opening.

don't read anything into this...remember when right before the WC bermuda scored 206 on us and even canada cracked 260? at that time, BC wisdom was that we would get creamed by india and lanka and bow out with a win against bermuda only (even that looked shaky). we gave up 260 to canada, yet held india and south africa under 200.

our boys just came out with no plan to win. the low RR and sedate innings indicates that it was more of what JS and the management has been talking about: preserving their wickets. i am sure they will do what they do once the real matches begin.

mash doesn't even get hit around by the top dogs of int'l cricket.

i strongly believe we will win 1 ODI this series and avoid innings defeats in both tests. this performance hasn't changed anything

Not the end of the world if we have lost a warm up match. Bangla Cricket will see better days in the near future undoubtedly.

I just hope players arent playing for securing themselves in the team. Tushar and Aftab were probably doing just that. Also while playing 12 players (11 bat and 11 field) is a good strategy to give maximum number of players a chance to have a go, I would prefer the starting XI only to play all the three warm ups. Siddons and the team management need to get choose their XI for the first ODI right now and let them play as a team. Playing 12 is like having a supersub, a rule that no longer exist.

Disappointed that Ashraful has got a start but couldnt get a big one. Havent watched the match, but going by the score, no Bangladeshi batsmen have been out for lbw or bowled. Thus literally throwing their wickets away by either being very defensive (edges) or very agressive (catches and edges off flashy drives).

Good to see Mash and Farhad getting runs and wickets too.

On the whole not a good start, but better days are bound to come.

Kuddus
December 16, 2007, 02:17 AM
batting wise it was a decent outing i think. Zunaed, although he played good, couldn't accelerate when he was set, but he was the top scorer so can't complain much. From the commentary it seemed like Ashraful might have been unlucky to be given out, but we all know that practice matches have hardly any correlation to the real ones when it comes to him. Tamim failed not surprising but Sakib was the most inform batsman coming in so him not performing was a bit of a bummer. Plus Aftab should be given a chance at number 3 in one of these practice matches. At least take advantage of the powerplays.

Bowling lacked bite. Shahadat spraying around as usual probably. Farhad coming out with the best figures surprisingly.

Tell me syzygy...Why do you even come here? I dont necessarily mean that in a rude way. Youre welcome here. Curious, thats all, since you dont think much of our team and only post when we're all already down. (Of course, us Bangladesh fans never have much to cheer about, so I'll excuse the latter...)

because he's a worthless individual with nothing valuable to do in his life...the fact that he posts so stupidly (i used to troll places and did it far longer than zyzgy did without getting caught) only indicates his lack of intelligence. just loves the abuse. masochist perhaps...

Again, folks it's a practice match - the 1st game of the tour. So cut out the doom and gloom. And please lay off the petty stuff like calling NZ names ..

i have a fear about zunaed. This is BD tradition, who is doing well in the practice matches, never perform in the real match

last 20/20------ nazimuddin
last world cup--- shahriar nafees
previous world cup--- al shahriar (he even scored 176 against some SAF club team)

batting wise it was a decent outing i think

Yeah, plus they all got to spend some time out there in the middle, barring the number eleven.

Farhad coming out with the best figures surprisingly.

Not too surprising. He was delivering the goods against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, and he just kept up the good work here. Plus the conditions might have helped, although I'm not too sure about the nature of the wicket that they played on, other than the fact that Australia scored big here, but then they score big everywhere pretty much.
