Recently I am working to build a partnership between BanglaCricket and TigerCricket. As part of the initiative, Rabeed Imam, the editor of TigerCricket.com and media manager of Bangladesh national cricket team, has kindly agreed to send pictures and news of Tigers for BanglaCricket members.

I hope BC members will enjoy the new partnership.

Some random observations
1) Mushfiq and Mehrab really are kids
2) Are those two violating team diet? :)
3) Gotta love Mash the jokester
4) Where is Ash?
5) Good looking bowling sequence by Sajid - but is he as upright as could be at point of release?
6) Love the head over ball and follow-thru by Shakib

I am happy that most of the members liked the initiative. We continuously try to add more features to BanglaCricket to make it more informative for the members.

I believe we will be able to build different partnerships with different websites/organizations in future and make BC one of the premier websites of world cricket.

I agree! Thanks Miraz Bhai for doing this. I was just wondering if Tigercricket can create a fan mail site for the players so that fans can at least wish them luck.

SL has such a site, and Jayawardena writes at the end of each day when they are playing cricket.

Media Release: BLACKCAPS ODI squad for National Bank Series

Media Release
21 December 2007

BLACKCAPS ODI squad for National Bank Series

New Zealand Cricket today announced a BLACKCAPS squad of 12 players for The National Bank ODI Series against Bangladesh.

The squad is:

Daniel Vettori (captain)
Brendon McCullum
Jamie How
Peter Fulton
Scott Styris
Ross Taylor
Mathew Sinclair
Jacob Oram
Kyle Mills
Mark Gillespie
Chris Martin
Jeetan Patel

"We welcome the return of Peter Fulton to the BLACKCAPS squad," said BLACKCAPS coach John Bracewell.

"Peter has shown good form in the State Championship, and he has proved in the past he can translate a high standard of performance at domestic level to the international game.

"The selection panel felt it was important to retain the bulk of the team from the recent series in South Africa and Australia to give them the opportunity to build on the experience of those tours and show the talent they have.

"Some players have been released to allow them to return to their provincial teams and earn quality playing time in the State Shield, and put pressure on those in the squad."

The BLACKCAPS play Bangladesh in three ODIs - at Eden Park, Auckland on Wednesday 26 December; McLean Park, Napier on Friday 28 December, and Queenstown Events Centre on Monday 31 December.

Tamim seemed to be having fun batting in his usual natural style. I still have hopes that he will be a future good and dependable batsman for BD.

He is still very young and has natural ability, just needs fine tuning, which Coach Siddons will no doubt try to do.

The Eden Park outer oval is surprisingly small. There is no way the score of 242 was defendable here. My apology to our bowlers (Nazmul in particular) for saying bad things about them last night, there was nothing much they could do. I think it's simply pathetic that our batsmen could not cross 300 here.

Also, not trying to take any credit away from Tamim, but he should not be over the moon after scoring a century here.

As is the case with most New Zealand fields. Some of the fields sport a weird rectangular shape as well.

BCB media release for the charity Twenty20 match.

Date: 22 December 2007

Media Release

Tigers gear up for Twenty20 match to support the World Vision Bangladesh Cyclone Relief Fund

The Bangladesh Cricket Team is all set to appear in Sunday's charity Twenty20 fixture against the New Zealand Cricket XI at Seddon Park, Hamilton. On the eve of the match the Tigers captain Mohammad Ashraful has called upon expatriate Bangladeshis in New Zealand to come forward and stand by those affected by cyclonic storm Sidr.

In a message Ashraful said: "You are all aware that Cyclonic Storm Sidr caused large-scale devastation in our beloved homeland in mid-November. Nearly 4000 people lost their lives and hundreds went missing. Sidr destroyed properties, crops, infrastructure and livestock and left millions reeling from its aftermath.

"To recover from this massive natural calamity the affected need help. Around the world expatriate Bangladeshis have come forward and governments and international bodies have also launched extensive aid operations in conjunction with the Bangladesh Government.

"Our friends in New Zealand Cricket have joined forces in this humanitarian endeavor and have arranged fundraising matches at Seddon Park on Sunday, December 23. This is cricket's way of showing that we care and the Bangladesh Cricket Team is highly appreciative of the initiative of our hosts.

"The Bangladesh Team respects and values your support and passion. We are thrilled to be touring New Zealand and excited by the prospect of playing infront of you. Proceeds from the Twenty20 matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand Cricket XI and New Zealand Under 19 and New Zealand CPA Masters will go to the Bangladesh Cyclone Relief Fund and this is your chance to be by the side of your countrymen."

The Bangladesh team members (players and team management) have already contributed a substantial amount of their tour fees in aid of cyclone Sidr victims. Each member has also bought a ticket for the fundraising matches as a token of their support.

Teams

Bangladesh (From): Mohammad Ashraful (Captain), Zunaed Siddique, Tamim Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehrab Hossain Jr., Mushfiqur Rahim (Wicketkeeper), Farhad Reza, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Abdur Razzak, Nazmul Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, Javed Omer, Sajidul Islam.

New Zealand Cricket XI (Revised): Stephen Fleming (captain), James Marshall, Jamie How, Peter Fulton, Ross Taylor, Scott Styris, Gareth Hopkins, Jeetan Patel, Tim Southee, Michael Mason, Iain O'Brien.

Miraz bhai, this is really great. I would like to request you to do something about the live broadcasting. I think we deserve to know who will officially broadcast Bangladesh's game. Today, i spent about three hour looking for sources where i can watch it. I called and email dishnetwork and directv but got no answer. I believe most us in U.S. and UK have this problem every time BD has a new series. We also see new threads open up with no solid answer. BCB has all the accurate information so we should get a official announcement from BCB regarding live broadcasting in UK and US. Please do something about it because i still don't know where i will be able to watch the bd vs nz series. Thanks..

ICC MEDIA RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dubai, 23 December 2007
ICC donates US$250,000 to Bangladesh Relief Fund following devastating Cyclone Sidr

The International Cricket Council today donated US$250,000 to the Bangladesh Relief Fund to help alleviate the suffering caused by a cyclone that hit the country last month.

On 11 November Cyclone Sidr formed in the Bay of Bengal and over the following four or five days tore across Bangladesh leaving behind a trail of devastation. More than 3,500 people were killed and many thousands more were left homeless by the cyclone.

On behalf of the ICC Board, Chief Executive Malcolm Speed presented a cheque for US$250,000 to Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful before the start of the charity Twenty20 match between a Bangladesh XI and a New Zealand XI at Hamilton. All proceeds from Sunday's match are going to help the victims of the cyclone.

Ashraful accepted the cheque from Mr Speed on behalf of the Bangladesh Relief Fund.

"The devastation caused in Bangladesh by Cyclone Sidr last month shocked us all," said Mr Speed.

"More than a month on and a huge challenge still faces those tasked with assisting in the rebuilding process. When one of our members is so badly affected in this way, and when we see the great work done by the various relief organisations, it puts what we do into perspective," he said.

"I am glad that the ICC has this opportunity to make a contribution to the relief effort and I applaud the generosity of the people here in New Zealand, who have made their own personal contributions to ease the suffering in Bangladesh."

The Twenty20 match is the highlight of a day of fundraising activity at Seddon Park, Hamilton for Cyclone Sidr relief efforts. The New Zealand XI includes many top cricketers including former Black Caps captain Stephen Fleming, current players Scott Styris, Peter Fulton and Ross Taylor, as well as potential stars of the future, such as Jesse Ryder and Tim Southee.

And hey Bangladesh won the match! Great performance by Rajib who is my 'choto bhai' in Narayanganj. Anyway thanx for sharing the awesome pix with us Miraz bhai!

And I bet- you do! ...Was this really neccessary? If you have nothing better to say how about trying silence! Don't you think it would be much wiser than taking a wild, rude and unqualified swipe at an International and a qualified coach???

Well if he deserves criticism I'm going to go ahead and criticise him. What the hell was he doing in South Africa when Nazimuddin was scoring single figures match after match he didnt do anything until the last match against Pakistan, when he replaced Nazimuddin with Junaed. Why was he playing Mashrafe after he continuously failed to perform, why did he let Ashraful bowl even after having an economy rate of 10 an over. And in the interviews his answers had no relevance to what the interviewer asked. Before coaching Bangladesh he had no significant coaching stints. And just because he is an international Australian coach doesnt mean he is a good coach.

Rasel is returning home from New Zealand to undergo a rehabilitation program which should get him bowling by the end of January 2008

BCB media release from NZ.

24 December 2007
Auckland , New Zealand
Media Release
Syed Rasel returning home

Injured pace bowler Syed Rasel will fly back to Bangladesh from New Zealand tomorrow (Tuesday, 25 December 2007). He is scheduled to reach Dhaka on Wednesday.

Rasel was injured in Bangladesh's first warm-up match against State Northern Knights at Seddon Park on 16 December 2007. He was first assessed at the ground by doctor of Northern Districts team Dr. Harris and sent to the hospital for investigation and orthopedic advice. X-rays were taken and it was revealed that Rasel had suffered a Grade Three dislocation of the left collar bone.

The bowler was then assessed by two orthopedic surgeons in Hamilton, Dr Hong and Dr. Christopher O'Meegham. Dr. O'Meegham suggested that conservative treatment was the best management of the condition.

For further specialist opinion all x-rays and reports were sent to Dr. Treffor James in Melbourne, Australia and his advice is awaited.

Rasel is being sent home to undergo a rehabilitation programme designed by the Bangladesh Team physio which should get him bowling by the end of January, 2008.

Good stuff !!!!! Just a suggestion though. It would have been much better and easier to navigate through the pictures if someone could put them in a slide show and put appropriate captions on them. Instead of posting new photos in new posts it would also be easier to just keep adding them to the slideshow. Alternatively updating the first post with alll the pictures instead of new posts would make it easier to navigate through them.

Nope!

They did however gather at their meeting room for a discussion where the bowlers and batters split into two groups offered own evaluation of their collective performances so far in the ODI series and set the objectives for the third match. Coach Jamie Siddons is a staunch believer of the importance of individuals taking their own and also team responsibility and has stressed on the need for the cricketers to become leaders.

Why are they looking worried in the 2nd picture? Here's the reason from TC:

They did however gather at their meeting room for a discussion where the bowlers and batters split into two groups offered own evaluation of their collective performances so far in the ODI series and set the objectives for the third match. Coach Jamie Siddons is a staunch believer of the importance of individuals taking their own and also team responsibility and has stressed on the need for the cricketers to become leaders. This city is also fit for the leaders and a matter of fact was named Queenstown because it was thought to be the ideal destination for Queen Victoria.

Yes. I've noticed that too. He's probably feel sad to see them getting the caps. I would have chosen him over Aftab for the first Test. Farhad has better FC average than everyone else in the team. Plus he bowls well.

I think farhad has a very good chance of making the next test...

i love Farhad Reza, an allrounder version of Syed Rasel :), i am replacing mortaza with his name now in favorite player

I am pretty sure this will be an incentive for Farhad Reza to perform better to earn this test cap. MY son's name is Feron Reza, so I am praying for him. If he is so hungry for it, he will have to fight for it and impress Coach Siddons. Zunaid and Tamim did this and it paid off. He is the main man.
I am praying that Allah helps Reza.

Despite the clear snub, the Tigers had little to do but to prepare themselves for the next Test.
On Monday they had only a gym and a recovery session at the hotel after the first Test ended inside three days.
However, on Tuesday they had a rigorous practice session at the Outer Oval in Lagan Park. Apart from vice-captain Mashrafee bin Murtaza, all the touring members attended the practice.
Fitness concerns had prompted the team management to give Mashrafee a rest.
The team spent most of their time in the centre wicket as coach Jamie Siddons emphasised on batting practice following a middle-order collapse in the first Test. Players were mostly taught about how to leave a ball, a weakness that was blatantly exposed in the Test.
Siddons earmarked an area around the batsman and asked him to leave the ball. Some members of the side at the practice also helped the bowlers to bowl in the right area.
Bangladesh will leave Dunedin for Wellington today.

we, the fans, have known that this has been our single biggest weakness and that too by far. yet, why did Dav never work on these things in 4 years?

again, this is proof that if JS can't right the ship, no one can (except maybe McInnes).

DW improved the team in the limited overs game, and initially improved our Test team, but then we re-lapses in his last 3 years in the Test arena. i guess his main forte was taking a bunch of losers and giving them the confidence that they could be winners.

hopefully, JS will take the next remaining step, which is tangible results as opposed to psychological confidence.

Many thinks to RI and Miraz bhai for arranging to provide us fans with all these truly worthwhile snapshots.

BTW, forgetting cricket here for a second... (and necessarily so, :)) the scenic beauty of the surroundings are something! Heck, such picturesque cricket grounds/facilities can't motivate our Tigers enough to perform better. :(

That's durjoy. He was a fantastic player during his time, but retired too early never understood why.

But I agree with you, if you will be with the team, you gotta dress the part. Or just stand on the side. One explanation could be that they dont have a size for him; as he joined the team later on.
