As a Banglacricket user, what kind of functionality, feature, look, etc do you want to see in this site? What would make your discussions and browsing of the site more enjoyable? Where do we lack compared to some other sports sites?

Please give it some thought and make suggestions.

asides from BC aquiring high quality streams of all BD matches (even if at a small fee)...BC is immensely amazing as a site and forum.

well I would never recommend showing match illegally .. better work with Willow or some other provider to show match. BC should never get involved with showing matches live

how about members raise funds to broadcast the matches... only people who registered and paid could watch the match... the rest, they can follow live scorecard if Banglacricket creates one!

Banglacricket is pretty much complete as a fan site. To go to the next level, it needs paid correspondents for exclusive tour coverage, live ball by ball text commentary and live audio commentary.

I think we should have a voice chat room, then we can arrange live commentary on the chat room and also discussion as well.

The person who starts a thread should get their display name at centered, but at BC the last person who posted gets their name at the centered which is kind of confusing at times.

It is the usual system, displaying the last post poster's name in a seperate "Last Post" column.

Post number 1 on top of every page on Match thread specially which involves Bangladesh. Then you wont get people asking questions like

Where are you getting the score ?
Who is playing? and so on, as most of the info can be found on post number 1 if it is done properly

If we cannot afford live score, at least we can afford delayed score (not like tigercricket, where updates are way toooooooo late and format sucks). This should include all national team games, U-19 games, A team games, and highlights of NCL and other leagues. If live score is possible, a small popup window is preferable, so that you can participate in Forum while keeping an eye on score :)

Well that's true but if you make it like cricinfo's Live Scorecard page then there is also a down side to it. If you were reading an article or a post you were interested in and the page refreshes automatically then imagine how annoying it would be. Now imagine that happening every 5 minutes or so!!

Yes, but I am saying that there should be an "Author" column as well at center while "Last Post" should be all the way at the end after Views/Replies. It's a better design this way IMO.

We do have a semi-live score mechanism and we normally update the score after every 1-2 overs (when cricinfo or other websites are covering it or there is any audio or video coverage).

Please check our latest scorebox at the font page for semi live score.

Obviously this will be dumb. But is there any way to append new posts with a click of a button (something like "check mail" E-)) which will update only newer posts and append with existing ones, when and only when you wish to check (obviously not automatic, Imagine you are typing a reply and it refeshed when you are about to post it :hairpull:). I haven't seen this, but just wondering if can be done :)

Yap! we have a New Posts (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/search.php?do=getnew) menu at the top of the every forum thread. Clicking on it will only show the newer posts (after your last visit or las log in or last you read) :)

Couple more things :-D can be investigated:
1) On the page showing all the threads, in addition to the link "last page", is it possible to have a link "last visited" which will take to the last post that the user visited most recently. Thus we dont have to scroll though messages when revisiting a thread. This might be done by cookies (not sure though).
2) How about notifications when your post is quoted (as a reply). Sometimes this replies are never seen by original posters.

What's wrong with IRC? I would take IRC over anything that requires me to install adware messenger applications.

XMPP might be a good alternative though.

I was rather thinking about newer posts while you are watching the thread :). New Posts on top menu seems exactly the same as regular view only skipping the sticky threads that has no new updates. Within a thread, New posts on the left top corner (i think) does not check the server and brings any post in that thread. Or does it? :-|

+1 to Orpheus and Mohammad's ideas.

What I'd like to see is a separate and well updated section for the non test playing countries. It can be a website section,or a forum or both.

We have been there,so we know how damaging the under exposure can be for non test playing countries players. There are so many young and talented players around, and really for cricket to prosper,we need to expand beyond the colonial few. I would really like to have news, players to watch, country reports in that section. Also other initiatives to help non test playing countries would be welcome. In that regard,I whole heartedly agree with this (http://www.smh.com.au/news/cricket/future-lies-outside-spoilt-few/2007/12/23/1198344884213.html) column.

Also,in cricket related online presence, this should be the most rapidly expanding market. If BanglaCricket can establish it as one of the top three destinations and the top place to discuss cricket for the non test playing countries,it will take us a long way to being the premier cricket related site.In that regard,we can offer to host subforums for emerging countries like Nepal, Afghanistan, Uganda, Kenya etc.

Even though refreshing works (which everyone does, i guess), updating only the new posts would be more efficient. :saint:
