An ominous sign?

Mohammad Isam

I wish this article had something to do with Bangladesh’s win in the first one-day international but alas, we lost.

Here in Dhaka, some observers certainly believed that the Tigers were in with a shot to win the first game against New Zealand in Auckland.

But that never happened as a few overs of madness was enough to give it all away; typical Bangladesh some might say, but I would disagree.

There is marked improvement in some ways. There is a bit of a swagger going on (although hard to look at on a television screen) and I must say that some of the players look they belong at that level. I liked Abdur Razzaq and a bit of Zunaed Siddiqui although it was Mohammad Ashraful and Tamim Iqbal who took away the honours.

Honestly, this could be our big chance to beat New Zealand and something tells me that a win is around the corner.

Meanwhile, Eid was a bit better this year as a close friend arrived in Dhaka after four years. Otherwise, it was all meat and all noise.

Highlight of the week:
• Looking at pictures of Bangladesh players celebrating Eid in Hamilton.
• Ashraful’s 70; no matter how badly it ended, it was fantastic to watch.
• A check of the scales and a loss of 1 kilo.

Next Week:
• Bangladesh’s remaining two ODIs
• Australia’s victory in Melbourne (fingers crossed)

I like this diary thing. Simple, articulate but passionate. Keep on biographing.

The previous two were better than this. Hoping for a good piece next week.

With all meat in menu, how could Mohammad Isam lose 1 kg on the scale? Sounds like a Quiz though. :)
