About 11 more overs to go for today, no need to play a rash shot. Just keep wickets, rotate strikes and only punish the loose balls

Coach Siddon's VINDICATED.

Athar Ali and Utpol Shubhro, eat yourselves !
US has been ranting as well in PA. Siddons is vindicated. Its the attitude of the players, bro. Its all mindset and attitude. I feel very well.

Highest Partnership for Each Wicket for Bangladesh in Test Matches- Link (http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Records/Bangladesh/Tests/Highest_Partnerships.html)

indianx
January 4, 2008, 11:30 PM
What was the highest opening partnership by us?

It's 133, so they should be able to go past it by stumps. Bangladesh is such an enigmatic team. You lose 10 wickets for a certain amount of runs and then you hit nearly the same amount of runs without a loss of a wicket. I guess it comes down to consistency more than a talent gap between the two countries.

Rather odd to see Martin give the batsman an earful

34.3 Martin to Tamim Iqbal, no run, touch shorter outside off stump and he leaves, then hears it from Martin
34.2 Martin to Tamim Iqbal, no run, short of a length outside off, he gets across and defends to point
34.1 Martin to Tamim Iqbal, no run, drivable length outside off, he comes forward and drives to cover

I just wanna say a million thanks to Siddons to have faith on TI & Junaed and kick handicap JO out of NZ. This is a slap in the face of the critics of Siddons' positive attitude. I can recall prothom alo's preview and how their sports reporter bashed Siddons for picking 3 newcommers and not including useless players like JO, Rajin etc.
Where is your stupid mouth 'Utpol Suvro' ?

End of day 2- 148 for none after 39 overs with Tamim scoring 73* and Zunaid 68*. Great effort for us and hopefully these 2 could continue this tomorrow too. Lots of stuff could happen if we play like this and if our bowlers perform like they did for this test(may be a bit better with the economy)!! Even though we are 72 runs behind, if all our players contribute like this then we might even have a chance of winning this match. But I am not expecting that, a draw would be great but if not then I will be satisfied if all the players do contribute like this!!

BD is right now in a perfect position to giv NZ a run for their money. With 3 days left in the match .. and 10 wickets intact.. any lead over 250 will start playing on NZ's nerves! :)

The question is .. can BD guns hold their temper and get themselves in that position..?

Tomorrow bangladesh should start thinking of the scoreboard like this:
Bangladesh 1st innings: 285
New Zealand 1st innings :357
Bangladesh 2nd innings: 0/0

That's beautifully put. :)
Based on the circumstances, that's how it should feel at least.

Day 3 would be decisive. It would be key for us to bat throughout the day tomorrow. The nature of the pitch and the weather is not expected to differ much from today. If we can go at around 3 runs per over and bat throughout the day we can pile up around 300 runs and a lead of over 200. A long, long way to go yet, but we definitely have the ability to do it. Whether our batsmen have the self-belief and the patience we have to wait and see. It would be huge if the debutants could play up to lunch and notch up centuries. I feel that the key players after these two would be Ashraful and Nafees. Another couple of big innings could go a long way in giving NZ a real fright!

Feel very happy to be able to witness one of the brightest days of test cricket for BD. Hope they don't look back anymore.

Expectations are there as well, first of all would like to see both of these openners going to make centuries. ...

Cheers, I salute the sellectors, for not labelling Tamim, Junaid and Aftab as one dayers, as many of us were also telling, a good batsman is good everywhere. We don't afford to make too many changes in test and ODI. We will have some hickups, but if they are allowed to continue in all forms, they will only mature as a cricketer.

Cheers for BD team.

We should not play too much with the batting order. More or less, each player should be knowing their position and get used to the role of that position. This is a very stable situation in BD batting and everything should be normal here on without changing positions and confusing them.

Guys, all we have to do is bat all day tomorrow and as long as we can on the 5th day. First job is to secure a draw if possible. If we can get a lead over 250 then and only then we can think of declaring and unleashing our spinners.

This is only the third day. So, a draw is almost out of the equation. They need atleast another 350 runs to compete.

Exactly, I think we have a better chance of winning this match (not that I think our chances of winning is very high at all) than drawing/tying it, just because only two days of play have been completed.

Can you imagine the numbers of people turning into Banglacricket tomorrow to witness the beggining of the 3rd days play.

I hope there will be many people and we can all enjoy some class cricket from our players. InshAllah, tomorrow will be another memorable day for our team and our fans.

i think mushfiq should come next..if bashar comes then there will certainly be a collapse..so the batting order now should be
tamim
zunayed
mushfiq
ashraful
nafees
aftab
bashar
mashrafi
shahadat
enamul
sajidul

I love the idea! I would vote for the same! It would be much more probable that Mushy scores big now than Haba! Then again you never know, we might just end up seeing Ash come in.... lol

Hope they can both go on for another entire day... ;):D

That's beautifully put. :)
Based on the circumstances, that's how it should feel at least.
Agree 100%. Start afresh. We should think 0/0 today. Forget the 1st innings. And Z and T take it to 200/0 today. That would make 348/0. At the end of the day runs should be 480+. The game should be taken to 4th day. And I would like to see a score near 600. The message needs to get through to the team.:flag:

Before we start লম্ফ ঝম্প, we should think about the following things:

01. We need to bat as long as possible (Ideally 4 sessions, or at least 3 sessions). The longer, the better.

02. Tamim and Big Z should think their score is zero. They should start again. We cannot afford any luxury if we want to win this match.

03. After one of our openers get out, Mushy should come at no 3 instead of Hablu. If Hablu comes, he will get out soon, and loss of two or three quick wickets might open the floodgates, which will be fatal.

04. We need to score another 350 runs.

If we cannot accomplish these, we may see the repitition of Multan or Fatulla.

they have start all over again. we are still 72 runs behind with 3 days to go. so there are a lot to be done. 300 more runs won't do any good either. we have to bat all day today and till tea tomorrow. we threw away a good opportunity on day one. i don't have any hopes on bashar and aftab thou but they all have to play long innings

what a start by the NEWBEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Kiwis thought that BD will crumble again. But we vill have to focus as these Kiwis will refocus again. The players will have to battle out one day without faltering.

The most impressive things of the day was the fielding. The throw at the stumps are extremly accucrate. Credit should also be given to the wicke keeper taking 2 excellanto catches.

Hope today goes our way

Tamim -61
Zunaid -32

Sahriar nafees -25
Aftab -46
Mushfique -38
Mashrafee -37
Shahadat -17

If we do not have a middle order collapse, then we will be okay to make a couple of hundred more runs.
Win, which needs consistency in a standard level, is still a far cry.

i think opening pair has done their job, but i m worried about middle order.... NZ will try their best to make first wicket fall. As a new day starts,we may expect a wicket to fall too.and NZ will then pressurize BD to collapse. And it will be a hard test for BD middle orders who seem to be shaky so far.

Yup, like everyone is saying, BD needs to go down big on adrenaline rush control. Seldom have we been able to drive ourselves to a position for a catapault leap into the "far and the beyond."

The more we can milk out of this partnership, the better. Push ourselves into the 200s before any loss of wicket. But this is less relevant. The top order needs to mimic and ensure that NZ does not come to bat before lunch on day 4.

Lets hope our openers continue and wipe of the deficit. Another 250 runs from the remaining batters between lunch of day 3 to lunch of day 4 will force NZ to come out all wobly in the 2nd go.

Is the pitch slowing down ? Are there scars on it ? This will open the doors for the Ashraful-Sajedul-Enamul trio and give them more purpose.

Now how does all this happen -

1) Openers begin playing and respecting the situation like true openers with a blank slate. I hope they did not burn themselves up more with high 5's and get caught in the moment way too much to lose their way to the ultimate goal. Sometimes your friends can actually make you more cocky. It well, get those thighs messaged..and go to sleep in time. And do not dream while sleeping.

2) Whoever comes in at no 3 will be under the most pressure. Additionally, the opener who did not get out needs to stay like that. Slow down if you have to...tease the bowlers if you have to. That is why # 1 is so crucial.

3) Negotiate the new ball when it is taken. When's that going to happen...beginning after lunch on day 3. The NZealanders will come out with more poise with lunch in their stomach and a new ball in their hands. Make sure that is the onlt reason for excitement for them.

4) By the 4rth day, pitch is like the planet Mars. Continue grafting.

5) When our bowlers begin, use the slow-bies. If we are really lucky, Mash/Shahadat will give us a good opening burst with a wicket or 2. That will really put NZ on the defensive, slow down their runs, and set us up for a minimum DRAW.
