Ash in the middle to join his former skipper.

What are the chances he will play an innings like the 130 in Sri Lanka ?

It's happening. Martin's pace and the breeze is helping the useful side of the ball.

Sohel
January 5, 2008, 05:37 PM
HaBa very lucky there, snicko just showed a nik for the Ash appeal ... phew.

46.3 Mills to Mohammad Ashraful, no run, Appeal: bowls it fuller on the corridor outside off, draws the batsman forward, Ashraful gets forward to defend, the ball creeps between bat and pad and there was a sound before it went through to McCullum. They appeal but Nigel Long shakes his head.

My replacement for Bashar would surprise some of you. I would go for Farhad. I saw his batting recently and even though he threw his wicket [ like almost everyone else ], I liked the basics behind. He has a high elbow when driving and by and large plays correctly. His bowling at 130+ kph can also be handy. His fielding is very good.

Sohel
January 5, 2008, 06:05 PM
Yeah, only possible solution with the current squad. HaBa is not good enough to be at no.3. He is just not good enough anywhere in the team.

I don't think Siddons will be able to deal with Rajin's shuffles inside the crease and tendency to block half-volleys and full-tosses. His last 3 at bat, 0-0-0, won't help his cause either.

What BD needs to do is defend and rotate the strike and in the process tire the bowlers and fielders. Then only they should go for any strokes.

Agreed. Our batsmen are most vulnerable when starting out, before the eye is in. That also explains why we tend to lose wickets in streaks.

Look at this ... :)

I reckon Ash will be moved up to 3 in that case and Farhad in at #7. Farhad looked pretty comfortable in ODIs and hit the ball cleanly.

I don't think Siddons will be able to deal with Rajin's shuffles inside the crease and tendency to block half-volleys and full-tosses. His last 3 at bat, 0-0-0, won't help his cause either.
I agree. I meant from the current squad.

crackinfo: The pressure has built up on Bangladesh with the quick loss of wickets and the runs have dried up as well. The ball has moved around a bit but the pitch still looks good for batting. The batsmen need to be patient and at least try and push the singles if the boundaries are hard to come by.

Remember, that both our openers were a little shaky at the beginning of their innings yesterday. Tamim was unlucky (ball stayed low), and Z was probably distracted by Hablu's shenanigans.

If SN and Ash can stay and defend for a while, they'll get set, and scoring will become easier. But that's a big 'IF".

0, 37, 4, 5, 2, 17, 5, 12, 18, 15, 23, 11 @ 12.4

This bolod still needs 13 more runs to complete his 3k. The question is not about giving him another opportunity. The question is what is the guarantee that he will score those 13 runs even if another chance is given?

After our second test against Os at Chittagong, HaBa needed 164 runsto reach 3k. In his next 12 innings he failed to score 162 runs he required. Test cricket jodi bilashitar jayga na hoy, tahole Haba do no deserve any chance to comiete his 3000.
