On a "positive" note, one of the commentator's saying that after watching a slow motion replay of Zunaed's dismissal, he considers him to be unlucky. Like that does us a lot of good.

Murad bhai, he had to work hard in that innings and that was a completely different condition in Lanka.(I am not writing that innings off by calling it a fluke) But he really has technical problems with the moving (seaming) conditions of New Zealand and doesnt worth a place in test squad (at least for 2/3 more years).

This is my opinion observing his batting. :)

I think we should all agree by now that temperament is more vital than technique in test cricket, and goos examples of it are Mushfique and Javed. Not a huge Javed fan, but sadly thats the reality.

Sakib has actually shown that his inclusion was not a complete waste of time. He took two wickets - one luckily - but importantly he kept one side quiet. Enam / Razzak probably would not have done any better. So Siddons' gamble [ decision ] worked again. His position was that in bowling he would not lose much - but should add something, anything in batting.

Why should anyone think JO's technique was worse than any of the present lot ? He still holds the 7th highest batting average for Bangladesh [ minimum 20 innings ].

The reason BC members don't like him is because his batting is not attractive enough.

We not only have problems with our batting but also with our fans.

The only good news here is that at least Tamim and Junaid may have a future together.

Siddons can do very little in the short period. Look at our best players: Ashraful, Aftab, Nafees - all have feet of clay.

You know the Mirzapore NCL proved one thing: If any of them had some class, they would have scored big hundreds regularly against our NCL bowling. No one did. That says a lot.

Less than 1 hour left. I am so disappointed with everyone's performance. What has happened here? I think it is the bounce of the wicket here. This ground is NZ stomping ground. they have won so many of their matches here.
I was so hoping that they would avoid an innings defeat.

I sincerely hope and pray that Bashar, Sakib and Mortaza can at least make the team reach 100 runs.

Send em to Singapore or something.. We can start a whole new team.. by selecting brand new faces. Becuase the way I look at it.. all these experienced monkeys ...playing worse and worse as time goes on. Ashraful is out of form, aftab is out form, Zunaid was never in form (one fluke of a session), Tamim the only cricket player in the team who even busted his thumb for us., Haba.. great time to come bak.. but no thanx, Mushy.. the golden moga needs to grow some golden balls, Sakib..runz like a girl (nothing athletic bout him), Shahadat and Mash did what they were expected to. Who else did i leave out.. I guess ..no one else matters.

Well please tell now. Should Bangladesh be playing test cricket. no they shouldn't be playing anymore I am sure the Zimbabwe if they were playing tests are sure to thrash Bangladesh.

zainab
January 13, 2008, 12:24 PM
Yes,they should continue playing, even if they are beaten and humiliated. Bd has to fix it's domestic program, these young players are too inexperienced, they have to play longer version of the game at home, only then can they learn to stay at the wicket and bat sensibly.
Coach Siddons does not impress me as the man who will give up, in my opinion, he will beat the crap out of them, get them to practice for hours until they fall from exhaustion, revive them with a dash of cold water and get them up again and start all over again.
Take heart, they have not scored the lowest score in Test cricket. It has happened to better teams. recently, England scored 81 runs agains SL. West indies lost very badly to SA and England. Is anyone talking about stripping them of their test status?
No Kiwi batsman scored a century, which is very good.

Indeed! he will have a longer time with them to prepare for SA tour. 7 days prep time with so many players was like a drop in the ocean. He did not even get to know the players.
An yhow, SA has Kallis, HA, Ntini and Steyn. Steyn wrecked the West Indians, so this will be difficult too. Bangladesh is playing against good teams with matured, experienced players who have been playing good cricket for years. A lot of countries have called the BD team a bunch of inexperienced schoolboys who are learning to play cricket.

LOL.. only if i were in Dhaka... I wudda definetely went to the airport when these Gadhas arrive. I wud start a riot so dat dese moron can't step out of the plane.. and start throwing eggs and tissue rolls all over the plane. All these Morons shud be stripped off of their Bangali Nationality. I guess ..no one else matters.

a bit toooooooo HARSH!!!! i would not select brand new faces! we need to persist with these so called "Gadhas", they are not really "gadhas", if you call them a gadha, why don't you go and play for Bangladesh and score a century against gusty winds and Kyle Mills. huh? ya think it's that easy? NO, a century in Dhaka with all the noise and support behind you is not the same as a century agaisnt quality opposition at a cold, distant from home place.

my advice:keep these same young players, after all, these are the same batch of players who got us to the 2nd round of both world cups in 2007. no change: we have already never endingly introduced eenough new faces already, that's the last thing this team needs: is a new blood! it ends with Junaed! Junaed came to this team he should now stay and develop. keep Tamim and Mushfique! after all despite all the ducks he is scoring, it is part of the process... we will keep losing, we will keep on losing some more, keep these same guys, they will turn around by 2009! INSHALLAH!

LOL.. only if i were in Dhaka... I wudda definetely went to the airport when these Gadhas arrive. I wud start a riot so dat dese moron can't step out of the plane.. and start throwing eggs and tissue rolls all over the plane. All these Morons shud be stripped off of their Bangali Nationality.

I think these guys will sneak in during early morning hours. BCB should not announce when they are arriving, and as soon as they arrive then just whisk them away.NO MEDIA COVERAGE, IT WILL EMBARASS THE PLAYERS AND COACH MORE. THEY SHOULD JUST BE LEFT ALONE.

not at all....same old story with rubbish catching. *sigh*

Baicha gesi...naile mara mari lagay ditam :)

Anyway, I wouldn't discredit the team too much, neither will I point my fingers at Siddons yet. Too early for that.

It's time that we all come down to the ground, and realize that we've got a long long way to go. Things will change slowly...and we have to stay on the ground until the team plays better.

We must be realistic about our expectations. Before selecting the team , we need to make sure that team members have enough basic skills to play at this level. Player like Ashraful has below 30 avg and this is not by accedent. The biggest talent is the talent to learn from mistakes and Ashraful have failed to demonstrate that he has that talent. Same applies to rest of the players. How big talent they may be, they surely have no right to ridicule Bangladesh before the world.

Report of our shabby performance from New Zealand Herald.

A dreadful day for Bangladesh has left New Zealand a straightforward sweeping-up operation to win the second test at the Basin Reserve today.

The tourists saved their worst for last, and that's saying something, with a wretched all-round effort, dreadful fielding, pop-gun bowling - Shahadat Hossain a wholehearted and honourable exception - followed by second-grade club batting.

At stumps, Bangladesh were 51 for five, still 199 behind New Zealand. The end will come quickly this morning. Excuses can be made for their lack of experience, their naivety in many respects, but even so yesterday was ordinary.

Fleming worked hard, kept his head down, unfurled some handsome strokes and enjoyed a big slice of luck. On 61, he skied spinner Shakib Al Hasan to deep mid-on where Shahriar Nafees maintained Bangladesh's wretched fielding performance by making a complete hash of the catch.

Vettori, by contrast, reached 94 on the back of a pile of pulls, cuts, dabs - and a life on 74 when Mohammad Ashraful inexplicably grassed a goober to mid-on - before tamely lobbing a catch back to the bowler.
