Bangladesh batsmen need to consider understanding about which balls to and not to play. They just cannot go for every balls, and likewise, they cannot just defend every ball.

Partly because he is a Kiwi. Imagine if was a Brit or an Aussie. He would be compared to Flintoff. Another reason is the large shadow of Chris Cairns . Kiwis are full of good all rounders. Don't forget Styris either, or Astle..

Very true. His batting is really impressive, not at all "just a big hitter". His bowling accuracy in this tour has been McGrath-like.

Our players need classroom lectures about test cricket. They need to understand how precious their wicket is and how the glory of test matches make them special to be able to be part of such honour. The Whatmore effect of sensational big hitting attitude needs to be converted to further dogged, gritty attitude. Unless otherwise we might concentrate on creating two kinds of players for different versions, keeping a few wiser ones in both teams.

That's lunch. A very similar script the first session in Dunedin with the Bangladesh top order wobbling again in helpful conditions for the seamers. They were unlucky to lose Ashraful after replays showed the ball clipping the pad through to McCullum but, that was after they had already lost four wickets.

true, although ash was *out* lbw ball before his non-dismissal dismissal. and SN had a similar survival.

still, ash and tamim looked most impressive for the short times that they were there. lets look at it this way: our bowlers will bowl today and should get the same assistance. lets hope our slips catch things that come their way.

according to weather.com the conditions should be windy for 1st 3 days.

lbw's are judgemental and technology may or may not be 100% correct. Umpires follow a few rules. The pitch of the ball ( whether it pitches on the stump ), the stride of the batsman, the height etc. But, edges and catches can be called via technology to almost 100% assurance. You can debate a lbw with certain degree of arguement. But, clear edges or non-edges can be settled with the aid of technology..

It's like they intentionally play bad so they don't have to spend too much time out there in foreign lands. Wonder if they just want to play Parar cricket in Dhaka Legaue and make a decent living out of it. It's not like they care of international fame and fortune. They wouldn't commit suicide like this if they wanted anything more then a few days of vacation abroad.

Day after day, spend our time doing all types of analysis on players, all trying to put forth our ideas, but, the end game is always the same. So, heartbreaking. How can you compete in a test match if you can't put up at least 250 in the first innings? Our problem is our massive inability to play as partners. I would suggest Siddons to practice them with two at a time for extended period of times, over days and months. Batter and non-striker playing together and only them at a time. No 1 & 2, No 3 & 4..and rest follows.

ultapalta
January 11, 2008, 07:57 PM
Ageo bolsi, ekhono boltesi... this team should be demoted from test cricket for 2-3 yrs, until the average age comes to 25 or so.

bangladesh doesnt deserve to play test cricket. we're an ODI or 20-20 team, like kenya. the sooner we discard emotions and realize it, the better.

Aftab should play is natural game ( suited for Tests ofcourse ..) .Test cricket is not just about hanging in there, it is about what you do while you hang in there.

Aftab is a much better player than this ..I 've seen him atleast 5-6 ODI's where he played much better than what he looks now ..
