*********** FORMULAS **************

Test batting:

rating is average of these 2 quatities multiplied by 3:

(total runs)(strike rate)/(innings * 100)

and

(total runs)/(innings * 100)

Test Bowling:

(wickets * 20,000)/ ( innings * 2 * strike rate * average)

For both formulas, elite players (those who are world class) have ratings around 25-30

notes:

1) test batting ratings seem to fluctuate greatly, even with small changes in numbers...thats a flaw of my formula. for example, ashraful dropped from 11+ points before the series to under 8.
2) on the flip side, one decent performance will boost your average greatly, so it all balances out.
3) the bowling formula seems to be a lot better.
4) because i tweaked the test batting formula in between now and the last time i posted, i did not post previous ratings and changes. it would be confusing and meaningless.

real notes:

1) tamim has a splendid rating, due to his 50+ average and awesome SR of 62.80 (which is higher than his ODI SR, go figure). look for him to plunge by the next year but hopefully not.
2) bashar is our next best bat at 17 something points
3) both mash and rajib bowled well and the ratings reflect that. too bad rasel missed out
4) enam got unlucky with the pitch not assisting slow bowlers, at least not his kind. lets wait till he gets 2 matches to bowl to the saffers in mirpur and CTG before commenting.
5) sajidul's debut was better than shahadat's at least. if he can improve his line and length, he and rasel will make up a potent pace quartet for either form of the game.

Since Enam Jr. was replaced by Shakib, I think his stats needs to be up there (bowling). Again it would be a good practice to put the formula's with the first post. People tend to have a short memory.

By the way, Grade sheet thread for NZ tour koi? ;)

decided to give this a nice bump. the formulas are too tedious to post each time.

one can find it if they just type "weir" in the search function and go to the earliest threads mention that word in the title.

A better idea would be to put the link in new threads. I mean the formula link :).
