team 100 hope so.

I hope both cross the 250 mark. This pitch is there to be punished. Already two days old (unless rotating pitches in every game)

Let Siddons do all sorts of experiment he wants to trigger. As long as he
sticks to his target to the long-term stability a gradual develpment in
performance and attitude is all we need.

we want good competetive high scoring matches.

where batsmen will have to play well to score runs

and bolwers have to work very hard for the runs

and fielders be up to the task.

Team B won the match which was a low scoring match.. sigh.. shame that even we can't cross even two hundreds against our own players, so how come against South Africa. Really worrying:(

Glad to see Rafique bowling well. He should be back in the Test side. Dhiman may be given a chance in the ODIs if he catches Siddons eyes, but the way Sifddons feels about Mushy might be a bit difficult for Dhiman unless he really shine with the gloves.

Dissapointing performance by Aftab so far. Rafique should be picked no matter what. Our batsman need a spanking thats for sure !

Seeing that we're playing at home, we should be seeing scores close to 250 in these 45 over games.

I hope the poor show with the batting have something to do with the bad weather of late and wet outfield with a damp pitch.

Although, it was relatively sunny today.

Congratz to Rafique and Riyad.
Good to see Dhiman into runs. The team B bowling must be too strong.
Troubling KM's career once again.

February 3, 2008, 01:54 PM
So far in 3 matches, only one Wicket-Keeper is making runs and he is Mr Dhiman Ghosh.

Golden boy and Pilot is failing to score. Golden boy probably got a duck in one of the match.

AsifTheManRahman
February 3, 2008, 02:01 PM
Yet, I think we should stick with the golden boy. Heck, we should stick with everyone who played in New Zealand, barring maybe Bashar and adding maybe Rafique. Our problems won't be solved if we keep on rotating players. We need to stick to a core bunch through hell and fire until one day they start giving us something in return.

Murad
February 3, 2008, 02:08 PM
Golden boy was out of form for quite a long time. when was the last time he made a 30+ score besides the 80 run agaisnt Srilanka?

He was given more than enough chances to get his forms back. I guess SN wasn't given that much chances.

So why is he an exception? He's too special?

Miraz
February 3, 2008, 02:32 PM
Rafiq's performance only shows that he is still the best spinner in Bangladesh in both forms of the game.

We sorely missed him in NZ, hopefully selectors will not do another blunder against SA.

February 3, 2008, 03:07 PM
Well my main concern is the position at which we send our golden kid in to bat. He is NOT a slogger, and we absolutely HAVE to play him up the order for him to make a difference. How many games, ever since his debut, has he played without the team already being five or six down for not much? Let's not forget that he's not even 20.

Gowza
February 3, 2008, 03:58 PM
dhiman should be the one-day keeper, i don't think he's ready for test cricket though (not that he'd do any worse than rahim atm) so for tests either keep rahim or bring back mashud. mashud would do better imo but if you want young cricketers i guess you'd keep rahim in the team.

Guys based on this performance, Dhiman should be given atleast one chance in this series. He should be given chance in the last odi if Mushfique fails in the first two. You never know, he might be the Deemon for South Africa !

Ajfar
February 3, 2008, 11:43 PM
well even if they dn't put dhiman in the final squad...selecting him for the primary squad will put sum pressure on mushy....that maybe a gud thingg....

Mahir
February 3, 2008, 11:52 PM
Yes Dhiman has been faring very well, and that would do him a ton of good for the future, but why this "get him in the team already" rant again ? So when the "golden boy" isnt doing anything for you, you get another young kid in the team, and then he doesnt perform for you, and another career gets ruined. Some of us just want to send the heck of Mushy out of the national team at any cost. Let Siddons coach him and have him bat up the order for god's sakes!

Can anyone scream persistence and patience ?

Spot on Mahir. Also, GoBo will do well under home conditions Inshallah. With slower wickets in the offering, maybe he can bat a bit up the order at a more anchoring role. Even though it is true IMHO that the tall and equally agile Dhiman is the better keeper and stroke-maker at this point, I won't mind if the Coach persists with GoBo because of his better, more compact technique. It's all about team strategy I suppose. Besides, GoBo's positional keeping has also improved a great deal from what we've seen and he IS quickly bridging the gap between him and better keepers like Dhiman and Shahin.

I'm takling about ODIs of course. Pilot will be my choice for tests, STILL the best gloves behind the stumps.

Did you guys ever hear a phrase "he made a come back" . Did the selectors tell you guys that if a young player messes up now, he can't make a come back in the future, when he improves his technique and performs in the domestic circuit. The national team is not the place to groom young people. If somebody is having problems with coping against inernational bowling, then why should he be playing there. Get somebody who knows how to play. Mushfiq isn't having a great time at international nor domestic. Let him go back to the domestic circle, play for the A team get his technique right. Once he improves as a player, he can make a comeback. Why do you guys always say that if a young player comes into the national team and doesnt perform, that will mess up his career. Why can't those guys make a comeback when they get their acts together in the future. If we can drop Shahriar Nafees, and try Tamim, Javed and Junaid . Then I am sure we can drop Mushfiq and Try Dhiman and Pilot. First of all you have to earn your spot and then you have to learn to keep your spot. If you can't do those two things, you should be out of the team and try to earn a recall ! Mathew Hayden is a prime example. When he first started internaional cricket, his performance wasnt great. Then he went out of the team and improved his technique and came back into the national team, and what a player he is now. So did Australia make a mistake by dropping Hayden when he was younger?
