i have been told not to contact mods via personal messaging service or email, and report any post that appear to contradict the ethos of this forum. could someone explain how it is that a post can be reported? which button do i press?!?

Puck, http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/images/BanglaCricket/buttons/report.gif (http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/report.php?p=618687) button in the upper right hand corner.

If you need to report any post ... its better to use the 'report' button rather than contacting any particular mod. Because report button puts a general message which is visible to all available the mods and admins. But you can contact any mod/admin via PM regarding forum-using-help in any time.

Report button is the button with a '!' sign within a triangle.

Thanks

Look to one of the sticky threads in this forum.

Yes - I wish I could make every new member read and digest the FAQs. :) . As a veteran, do you have any ideas?

Sure, have a simple, random, and compulsory multiple choice test based on the FAQ with say, a 75% passing rate. Those who fail are not barred from posting on BC, but have a "loser" tag next to their avatar, and obviously can take the test again to remove the tag.

Just kidding. I'm not a big fan of using embarassment as a motivator. Although there are occasions when the students have made me feel like the grader in the following strip:
