I dont think Tendulkar need to prove anything. He has done enough and everything now is a bonus. But I hope we see Gilly one more time.

That young lad finally got a well deserved break.

He's been playing straight for last 2/3 months.

I've to say hes very strong.

India will miss him though.

Inferno

Its a little hard to play the slower bowlers.Ozs fielded brilliantly as usual saved 30 runs atleast. Piyush Chawla - can he do it?

220/5 45 overs.

If you listen to the commentators, you would think India just lost the match !

Considering the way Australia's batting went this series, I'd say we have a game in our hands. Any 5 over segment can change everything. This is a good score, in the context of things.

Yes, I have seen that their commentators (esp. Slater) always think they will win. If Australia scores 160 batting first, they will say pitch is very difficult to bat on, if opposition scores 260 instead, they will say pitch is playing easy. Always positive I must say ;)

Unlikely bro ! They've been either number one or number two ever since the advent of the modern game, and I won't be at all surprised to see them bounce back with all due venom sooner rather than later.

They're just too darn professional to allow themselves to slide the way the Windies have.

Congrats to India. I think tendulkar showed his critics that there is still a lot of cricket left in him... for some reason many indians don't just get it!!! Also, Praveen Kumar is an excellent find... He provided the edge in the Indian bowling attack.

They won't become West Indies, but they are most likely to turn into South Africa, a very good team but not unbeatable by any means. Their bowling attack already looks as one-dimensional as South Africa's.

There has been an impression for a few years now that Australia can be beaten only on an off-day, and if a rival team or player dared to challenge them (like England's Ashes win, or Pieterson before the World Cup match, or was it 20-20 ?), Australia's revenge would be fearful.

It remained the same until the start of this year - even the Sydney Test was a result of some careless batting on the first day. Most expected Australia to crush India in the third Test (because, in Alien's language, the SCG furore would have set their "blood boiling" :) ), and again in the fourth Test after the defeat in Perth. And the same kept happening over and over and despite Australia trying their damnest they lost more than they won.

It would be interesting to see how the loss of this psychological edge would help the other teams playing Australia in the future. India never had their full bowling line-up (Australia hardly missed a player due to injury) and on paper, South Africa have a better fast bowling attack. And England too, if they can get all their bowlers together at the same time.

I must say, I saw the master bat well within himself and got the most out of the pitch. He should have gotten the century though.

Very well done India. After a World cup a total turn around. The young recruits are performing more than one could have asked for. Sharmas are great. The credit should go where it should be. The Academy. Former Australian greats have created their own rival.

Who knew the departure of Dravid, Ganguly (cough cough), Chappel, Zaheer would have pushed India in to a new level? I still fear the departure of Tendulkar. This team is shaping up just as Dhoni. UV still dissapoints me. So much talent but wastes most of it.

SohelBhai,

I admire you for your witty and articulate posts. Yet, i must add that I find your comments in bold out of time and out of place given that hardly any Indian posts on this board anymore. Even otherwise, there were only a couple of vocal ones who have either been banned or left for "greener" pastures.

How about a non-cynical, non-sarcastic congratulation message for a change :) ? Come on, what will it take to get rid of the cynicism?

Cracker of a match it was. The streaker incident (there were two during the Aussie innings) and Symo slam made the front page of CNN

Richie Benaud's reactions made me laugh for 3 minutes. Here's the CNN link:

Indeed you said it. It is comments like this that ensure that very few Indians will want to visit this forum. If is good for a laugh if done once or twice , but then it becomes jarring. Not that it matters to the mandarins of the site, of course.

I agree with you DJ. An overdose of sarcasm makes it bitter. A bit of humor is always welcome, but then then too much of it is not.

He's been a constant supporter of the Indian team...giving due credits when it's necessary.

EXCUSE ME ??? "Pure jeolousy, inferiority complex,or just hatred"? Of YOU ??? Dream on little man (asterix is SHORT, right), self-flattery won't get you anywhere !

To DJ and all other Indian friends here,

Obviously it is an incredible victory for India, and the team's well-deserved of congratulations whether anyone congratulates them or not. CONGRATULATIONS INDIA ! ... :applause: ... :)

I meant no offense at all and I'm sorry to see it roll this far ! It was just excessive silliness on my part and nothing more. I apologize if anyone felt offended by my Vs and Ws. I never intened to have a go at what is obviously a sore spot and the need for positive affirmation.

For what it's worth, my paternal family originally hails from Old Delhi and we still have blood relatives and deep roots there even after 400 years. 'Hating" India or any other country including Pakistan, a country I NEVER see myself supporting, is just not our cup of tea. I hate the media-generated hype the gullibility of those who fall for it, DEFINITELY NOT the cricketers or cricket fans, that goes for both India and my beloved Bangladesh.

I also make fun of our own accents BTW, and it's all in self-deprecating fun that on occasion isn't funny at all.

Kabir,

Thanks for pinch-hitting bro. We know each other.

Peace, Sohel.

my philosophy is leave the country bashing to other people, all it does is make you look like an idiot, i laugh when i look at youtube video messages of indian or pakistani batsmen to behonest, even though the countries do have a past, all the kids who post there probably don't actually know the history that well and make the comments just for the sake of it
