So the WEIR system has been around for about 6 months now, and we've played quite a bit of cricket. Our most recent exploits have been in limited overs cricket and we don't have any Tests coming up in the near future. Thus, nows a fair time to see who is doing what in ODI cricket.

The red indicates drop in rating, whilst green indicates increases. Bold is used for changes, either positive or negative, which are greater than one unit. The players are ranked in terms of form.

The batting formula used is:

Batting Formula (ODIs):

(total runs) * (strike rate)
______________________
(innings) * 100

And it is worth noting that not outs, will NOT boost the rating of a batsman.

The bowling formula used is:

Bowling Formula (ODIs):

(total wickets) * (60,000)
_________________________________________
(innings) * (econ) * (average) * (strike rate)

Notes:

1) Somehow Ashraful's rating has gone up, its definitely the minnow bashing he did against Ireland. Obviously, he still needs to be dropped for a series at least.

2) Tamim has improved every single series, most so against minnows, and there is nothing wrong with that. Against 3 top sides, both home and away, he's done the right thing. I feel a century against a top side is just around the corner. I hope he keeps improving his technique and shot selection.

3) Dhiman is doing OK with the bat. In fact, his rating increase is quite large. His keeping is no better than Rahim's but his batting is up to the mark. I still think Rahim is the better batter, but might be less suitable for the ODI format unless he bats in the top 4 positions which is unlikely. No need to drop Dhiman, IMO, though he needs to be smacked for dropping sitters. Dhiman by himself could have kept Salman Butt's aggregate score at 250 rather than 450.

4) Farhad's batting is really dropping, but it might the situation he comes in at. He doesn't seem to be a consolidator unlike Riyad or Raqib. But his bowling has gotten better though still far from par standards.

5) Riyad has a pretty high batting rating, especially considering the rating DOES NOT take not outs into account. Riyad averages over 27 runs per innings, at a decent strike rate of 66.

6) Almost all our bowlers have been stinking it up, including Razzak who's fallen like a meteor. This is why our recent performances have been so utterly bad. Our batting has always been this bat, but our bowling has taken a huge dip. Hopefully we can rectify things in the 6 weeks ahead of the Tri Series and the Asia Cup.

This WEIRD Formula is working for Ash then....

Dear Asaad,
You may want to create two columns for each series. Put it in an excel sheet and then copy paste here. One with WEIR on the series and one with the overall career WEIR. People would understand better.

Pakistan series alone on WEIR:

Aftab 6.9 (Pretty pathetic I must say)
Ash 12.15 (Below his average, huge dip altogether)
Shakib 34.12 (That is more like a class from a middle order batsman)
Tamim 24.27
SN 6.22
Mahmudullah 14.82 (with a SR of 57% he still scored better than Ash)

good idea. how do you copy past excel sheets onto BC forums???

and referring to sakib's series WEIR, tendulkar has a career WEIR of aprox 34. so shows how well he did during the series.

In excel create the table. With headings and stuff. then highlight the table and copy. Paste it in the post. Or just send the info to me. I'll get it tomorrow.
