The team will leave for Colombo tomorrow and are targeting a win over Pakistan. The Asia Cup will start on May 2 in Sri Lanka.

"We have hopes of winning against Pakistan. They are a relatively new side in women's game and are pretty weak. That's why we have hopes of a win against them,"

We will miss Champa Chakma, the chinaman bowler as she is sitting for the HSC exam.
""The girls are well prepared as they have been playing together for quite a while. We are hoping to do well and will not give up. I tried but could not gather video footage but I have seen some of the other teams on television. Most of the teams are strong but we have to do well".

AB Bank is sponsoring the women cricket team.

Bangladesh women team captain Salma Khatun almost matched with his male counterpart Mohammad Ashraful in making innovative comment. :)

"We have a strong spin attack and so far, nobody has seen us play. It is also true that we have not seen the other teams play."

Squad: Sathira Zakir Jessy, Shukhtara, Ayesha Akhter, Salma Khatun, Irin Sultana, Chamily Khatun, Rumana Akhter, Panna Ghosh, Shamima Akhter Pinky, Jahanara Alam, Lily Rani, Tithi Rani, Papiya Haque Babu and Mina Khatun

good luck ladies... I wish Champa Chakma wouldn't have seat out from a big tournament like this. she is a very good player. but We have to respect her decision as women cricket won't bring food to her plate at this moment

Seems like matches involving Bangladesh won't be recognized as Internationals.

Our women's team didn't get ODI status yet??

BTW Cricinfo will give live commentary to all the matches.

AsifTheManRahman
May 1, 2008, 02:04 PM
Seems like matches involving Bangladesh won't be recognized as Internationals.
That's discriminatory, because games featuring a test team and our men's team in an ODI competition including three or more nations used to be considered as official ODI's even before we had the status.

al Furqaan
May 1, 2008, 04:24 PM
our team deserves ODI status at least. i know the pak women don't have test status, which i thought they had.

al Furqaan
May 1, 2008, 04:43 PM
i stand corrected, pak does have women's test status...but for some reason they're the only major nation that still has to qualify for the world cup...wierd.

i see that ireland, and holland have test status over us...strange.

AsifTheManRahman
May 1, 2008, 05:01 PM
It's expected. Only the best should have test status.

Dhruvo
May 1, 2008, 09:04 PM
I dont know why but i smell something fishy,i dont where i am getting the feeling from but i feel like we are gonna lose our test status very soon , judging by all the ignorance by icc fo0r granting the bd womens team the test status and also by judging the recent matches record for bd mens team, shockingly we didnt play a single test match for quiet some time and i dont see any upcoming test matches in the fixtures calendar for bd!

HATS OFF TO The Bangladesh Women Cricket team for their first ever ODI win against their Pakistani Counterparts by four wickets.

TIGERS LEARN THE TRICKS OF TRADE FROM OUR TIGRESS SISTERS.

With hardly any International experience they have DONE THE IMPOSSIBLE.

I am sure all of Bangladesh is celebrating this superlative performance.

I am extremely happy and so would be millions of bengalees all over the world for bringing the PAKISTAN WOMEN’S CRICKET team down to earth.

Tigress sisters you have lessened our sorrow appreciably from the drubbing Tigers received from Pakistan earlier last month.

A MILLION THANKS TO BANGLADESH WOMEN'S CRICKET TEAM !

ALL THE BEST TO TIGRESS SISTERS !

WE ARE ALL VERY PROUD OF YOU.

miraz bhai is right, this is incredible team spirit and courage!

thank you so much kathbirali for updating us on the shot by shot coverage! great team spirit sis! did you know these girls, did you play cricket with them?

i wasn't dissapointed at the outcome of the 2nd game vs sl. i thought our girls did fine. they are also fighting harder and harder each and every game, which is just great and that's what they need to be doing. now we need to keep our head straight and stay focused and repeat the win against pak and push sl harder in the next games against them.

both me and my wife are a couple of years shy of being 40! come to think about it, most of these girls could easily be our kids age (although we don't have any)! it is just just amazing where these cricketers are taking us in terms of name recognition and respect! i am simply just so proud of salma and the gang that i get totally emotional!
