1. sutcliffe (record speaks for itself)
2. hobbs/merchant (maybe hobbs as he played more tests, has 60,000 FC runs - merchant averaged 70 in FC cricket)
3. bradman (considered the greatest batsman of all time)
4. headley (consisdered the "black" bradman)
5. miller (probably the most talented pacer/batter combo ever)
6. sobers (best most complete allrounder ever - spin/pace/batting/fielding)
7. gilchrist (best keeper/batsman ever, sangakkara is good but better when he doesn't keep wicket)
8. o'reilly/murali (depending on whether you want a leggy or an offy)
9. king (one of the early swing bowlers)
10. tyson (he's here due to his pace and good record)
11. barnes (some people consider him a pacer others consider him a spinner, either way he's one of the best ever)

notable mentions:

pacers - lohmann, freeman, mycroft, rylott, jj ferris, charlie turner, mcintyre, freeman, w hall, i bishop, ambrose, walsh, holding (bowled the best over in history), r.gilchrist, marshall, garner, roberts, lillee, trueman, thomson (for his pace), mcgrath, steyn (early days though stuart clark is also in this category).

spinners - grimmett, warne, mendis (early days but i like his unique style)

allrounders - imran khan, hadlee, botham, kallis

batsmen - tendulkar, lara, viv richards, ponting, hussey, sangakkara, walcott, weekes, hammond, hutton

this is only one of many combinations i could have made for an all time XI, there are many all time combo's that would be amazing.

Viv Richards
Viv Richards
Viv Richards
Viv Richards
Steve Waugh (C)

Any world team would sh*t in their pants facing four Viv Richards. Twice a game, lol, they won't show up on the field for the second innings after they register retired hurt curtesy to Holding and Marshall.

yeah viv was an awesome talent, my team i went on consistency more than anything else for the batting, allrounders i went more with talent and variety than stats and bowling i tried to go on both stats and variety. btw the west indies could make up more than 2 all time world bowling attacks just from their pacer greats (walsh, ambrose, marshall, bishop, hall, holding, roberts, garner, r.gilchrist), they had some decent batsmen as well.

For me. Not nessersarily the best team but my "dream team"

Sunil Gavaskar
Jack Hobbs
Donald Bradman
Vivian Richards
Garfield Sobers
Imran Khan
Adam Gilchrist (+)
Wasim Akram
Shane Warne
Malcolm Marshall
Sydney Barnes

This is Richie Benaud's Greatest XI, by the way.
