MAGIC MOMENTS RELIVE (BD TIGRESSES OUTCLASS PAK WOMAN TEAM) - PART 6

The day May 3, 2008 is a red letter day in the history of Bangladesh when as an unfancied team with very little international experience BD Tigresses went on to beat Pakistan Women’s Cricket team convincingly by 4 wickets.

It is unfortunate though that because Bangladesh is not ranked in the top 14 teams in the world this unprecedented Achievement or for that matter any other during the Asia Cup will not be considered as One Day International which is sad for us.

However like myself and millions of BD fans all over the world we firmly believe that if the tigresses can continue with the attitude and commitment they have shown it is a matter of time they will be able to scale within the top 14 and subsequently their heroics and feats will be recorded in the annals of World’s Women’s Cricket History.

Now on to the game.

Salma impressed all and sundry with her awesome batting and bowling performance. She was also able to get the best out of everyone in the team with her inspiring leadership by leading from the front.

One other Star of that day was Tithy Sarkar.

On that day Tithy Sarker devastated the Pak batting with awesome bowling performance.

Her records speaks for itself. Tithy Sarkar in only 9.4 overs took 4 valuable wickets at an expense of 25 runs.

More importantly she broke the backbone of the top order of the Pak batting line up
.
Her scalps included: Opener Bismah Maroof, Captain Urooj Mumtaz at one down, 3 down Batool Fatima and 4 down Sana Mir.

She was ably supported by Salma Khatun and Shathira Jakir who took 2 for 18 ad 2 for 34 respectively.

Subsequently Salma khatun played a majestic undefeated innings of 53i n 92 balls that included 6 glorious boundaries and won the game for us.

Credit must also be given to coach local Coach Zafrul Ehsan who deserves 50 % of the achievement for developing such a dynamic, committed, highly motivated group of individuals who had self belief that they can do it.

We are all confident that if the Tigresses can maintain the same attitude and commitment and support from their coach Zafrul Ehsan they will be able to become a force to reckon with in 2 years time.

I have not been following the Women's cricket team's performance much. I just know that they are a very good team, but they need to improve more because they did not do well in the last series, only beating Pakistan, but they do show a lot of promise.
