Bangladesh appoint strength and conditioning coach

Grant Trafford Luden has been appointed as the Bangladesh national team's strength and conditioning coach.
Luden, a South African, has "extensive experience as a cricket coach, trainer and fitness advisor", according to a release from the Bangladesh board. He had been head coach and manager at the Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa.
Luden has a degree in sport and exercise technology and completed a national diploma in sport and exercise technology from Technikon Pretoria. Luden also worked as a fitness trainer of the Karnataka Cricket Academy in 2005, and has been a coach and fitness specialist for 17 years.
Luden will join a Bangladesh side coached by Australian Jamie Siddons. Bangladesh have performed poorly in recent months, with their last victory against a major opposition team coming against West Indies in the World Twenty20 in September last year. Excluding a 3-0 result in the home ODI series against Ireland, Bangladesh's last ODI win came against South Africa more than a year ago, during the World Cup in the West Indies.

What is a conditioning coach?

So, he is basically the trainer, right?
Oh, i remember, the last guy quit couple of months back.

Welcome to Bangladesh, Mr.Luden.

This guy has 17 years of experience. What is more important is he has worked in Karnataka Cricket Academy so he already has good knowledge about sub-continent

Conditioning Coach?

Does that mean we can expect more healthy looking and shinny hair in our player's head?

But I am wondering how it will work out for completely bald people like siddon or almost bald like aftab?

Thanks for the picture Murad.
So Tiger already started training for Asia cup. Read on Todays Daily Inqilab they are going to play 2 practise match under light on 17th and 19th. But main problem is "A" Team is departing for Ireland and UK so they wont be included. They will get few Academy boys to form 2 team some how.

yeah good idea to have a conditioning coach, this way the players can get specific direction on what they need to condition to improve in their particular playing roles. no point in telling a bowler to add some muscle if no one in the camp is specialized enough to give good direction to the player on how to do it and to over see it.

different exercises condition the body in different ways, this guy should be able to tell each player what to train and how to train it.

Australia hire McInnes as women's coach

Cricinfo staff

June 13, 2008

Richard McInnes will trade in his job as Australia's performance analyst to become the national women's head coach. Since accepting the new position in the off-field reshuffle of 2005, McInnes has helped Australia significantly through the meticulous and time-consuming video research he combined with his technical expertise.

When Australia return from the West Indies in mid-July McInnes will step from the background to the front of house as the women's team prepares for the World Cup in Australia next March. He replaces Lisa Keightley, the former international opening batsman, who stepped down in May after 12 months in charge.

"I'm looking forward to an exciting and challenging period over the next two years with the World Cup, Twenty20 World Cup and an Ashes series coming up," McInnes said. "I've learned a lot over the last three years with the Australian men's team and some of those qualities can be beneficial to the women's programme.

"There's been a strong skill focus on the women's game for a long time and I think there's an opportunity to move towards more tactical, game-awareness development. That's something I'll investigate initially."

Before joining the men's team McInnes was a senior coach at the Centre of Excellence and the high performance manager for the Bangladesh Cricket Board. In his new role he will also be in charge of the Australian Institute of Sport women's cricket programme.

Yes.
Does that mean we can expect more healthy looking and shinny hair in our player's head?
No. In a country like ours where hot sun rules, he was hired to make sure the air condition is running and no "Gham" is coming out of anyone's tak. Be it in the luxury box, players lounge, locker room, Buses or airlines. Finally they will have cool breeze.

And it seems like players love him, there must be a good reason. I hope he will be around for years to come.
