Bangladeshi Pacers lets face it apart from Mashrafe Mortaza we don’t really have a world classer pace bowler who can take wickets in both test and ODI format. Yes Shahadat Hossain is good but he can’t seem to translate his test form in to the ODI games while Syed Rasel on a good day is one of the best economical bowlers but given that he was recently injured his last few performances weren’t the best.

So I ask apart from Mashrafe Mortaza who has Bangladesh got that can take wickets on a regular basis in both forms of the game.

Here is a list of Bangladeshi Pacers,

Dolar Mahmud
Kamrul Islam
Mahbubul Alam
Mohammad Shahzada
Mohammad Sharif
Nazmul Hossain
Rubel Hossain
Sajidul Islam
Subashis Roy
Talha Jubair
Tapash Baisya
Ziaur Rahman
Farhad Reza
Shahadat Hossain
Syed Rasel

So have I forgotten to include anyone else on this list? Out of the above who has the potential to partner Mashrafe Mortaza as the opening bowler in both format. What can be done to make sure the young ones from above have time to develop rather then being called up to represent Bangladesh too early?

There is already a similar thread here: http://www.banglacricket.com/alochona/showthread.php?t=27003

mods, perhaps these should be merged?

russel is a world class palyer man. he acts more like akib javed in pakistan. he restrict runs, which helps mashrafee to go for an action. in the WC, russel, sakib and rafiq did the exact same thing. thts why razzak and mash did so well

Mashrafe is hardly the world class. Here is his filtered ODI stats against elite 8 teams - Stats (http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/player/56007.html?class=2;opposition=1;opposition=2;oppos ition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=6;opp osition=7;opposition=8;template=results;type=bowli ng;view=innings)

In terms of average, economy, and strike rate, Rasel so far has proven himself a much better ODI bowler than Mashrafe is - Stats (http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/player/56160.html?class=2;opposition=1;opposition=2;oppos ition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=6;opp osition=7;opposition=8;template=results;type=bowli ng;view=innings)

In international standard, Mashrafe is a terrible test bowler - Stats (http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/player/56007.html?class=1;opposition=1;opposition=2;oppos ition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=6;opp osition=7;opposition=8;template=results;type=bowli ng;view=innings)

His test form has gone worse in last three years, after his return from the last major injury - Stats (http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/player/56007.html?class=1;opposition=1;opposition=2;oppos ition=3;opposition=5;opposition=6;opposition=7;opp osition=8;spanmax1=18+Jun+2008;spanmin1=18+Jun+200 5;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling;view =innings). With this kind of strike rate, even a spinner would have been kicked out of any other test team.

Shahadat, on comparison, is a much much better test bowler - Stats (http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/engine/player/56149.html?class=1;opposition=1;opposition=2;oppos ition=3;opposition=5;opposition=6;opposition=8;tem plate=results;type=bowling;view=innings)

you need physical strength and fitness to bowl. Even mash is developing tummy if you notice. it's just funny to see reza bowling fast with his tiny frame. i still think shahadat has the potential to be a really good bowler just that he needs to work hard.

if a thin, tiny and short man trying to bowl fast, it will never scare a batsman.

i thnk Nazmul Hossain is a decent bowler...
Tareq Aziz is also pretty good...

they should contnue to mature and develop until inshallah they will rip the world batting lineup apart

HOpe Mashrafee won't get called by Rainhill to open the bowling. Our best batsmen already made tons of runs there.

6+ feet tall Bangladeshi pacers that I know of - Shafaq Al Zabir, Shahadat Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shuvashis Roy, Sumon Shaha, and Ziaur Rahman. Shafaq is the tallest of the lot, but he is a just a 70 mph medium pacer.
