View Full Version : Why Syed Rasel Is Not In The National Team

I Have Now A Great Doubt About Cricket Knowledge Of Our New Selectors , Previously I Thought Syed Rasel Might Be Injured , Thats Why They Did Not Pick Him. But In Fact He Is Fit And Performing Well In Ireland . One Day Bowling Is All About Line & Length. Pace Matters A Little Specially If Its Not Well Directed , Opponent Batsmen Find It Lucrative To Score Runs .that's Exactly What Happened With Shahadat.he Can Be Picked For Test Matches But For Odi's He Is Horrible. Our Selectors Continuously Prefering Shahadat Over Rasel. Mashrafe Is Doing Alright At The One End We Need Another Very Economical Bowler At The Other End Who Also Gives Early Break Through So That Pressure Is On The Opponent Right From The Word Go,that's What Rasel Was Doing Since He Joined The Team.i Am Now Just Observing For How Long Such Kind Of Stupidity Continues.

shajib, these so called selectors are a bunch of unprofessional, uncaring, selfish, shallow and have under-developed brains (if any) which are very very low, as a matter of fact they don't even have the capacity or ability of thinking 1/100th of the pre-neondrothols or even any primates - yes these life forms that occupy the bcb offices and call themselves administrators(!) won't be able to gather food or fend for themselves, let alone hunting, yes, i mean it)! i hope someone from bcb read this (if any of them can read or even comprehend what we are saying).

it's not our players or our coach whose not doing their job or making effort, it's the bcb management who need to learn to read and write first! and yeah, if anyone of them can manage to read this, just look me up and bring it on, i will put you out of your misery, bunch of unprofessional, ignorant, incompetent fruities!

sorry bro, just hang-in there, pray and welcome to bc!

His shyish personality doesn't help either.

Also, his balls don't swim fast enough according to some.

my take on the situation as I have mentioned on another thread....

bring back rassel instead of dollar
bring back sakib.. (instead of alok if hes not performing up to the mark, or instead of someone else...)
and if you want a replacement for rafiq... bring in shuvo... i know its early... but hes a tough kid... dont make him play lots of matches at once.. but slowly drift him in... its about time we get out of our own misery...

Instead of Russell being fired our selectors should be fired for destroying our nice world cup team! This is a shame! Selectors need to take responsibility for this mess!L-)

I think his stats speak for himself. He has the third best bowling average compare to all BD bowlers. We will be silly to compare his looks and personality here. BCB should bring him back before it's too late. We also need to consider opening partner for Tamim. So far nothing seems working right for us, looks like there are more humiliation waiting for us in the 2nd round since we don't have the full strengthen balanced team.

I just don't understand this at all. when the squad was picked one of the selectors (I think it was rafiqul alam) stated that their 1st choice was not dollar but rasel or nazmul hossain. However, btoh these guys were injured and this forced their hand. But as others have rightly said, both these guys are now apparently fit and playing for the A team in Ireland?!

What the hell is going on? Did they miraculously recover in time to go to ireland but not soon enough to go to Pakistan? Even though the squads departed dhaka at around the same time (perhaps a day or two apart)?!!

AND, he's not metrosexual enough for today's crowd.

Staying away from the shocking pinks will get him nowhere.

Ever since Tiger mama took over, the team selection has been idiotic. And the worst part is the BCB management, who lacks anyone that cares of cricket and has enough cricket knowledge to identify this mistake replace the selectors.

The selectors suck, but it is BCB's fault.

rasel is not in the squad because of the baffoons who call themselves selectors..

He can not bat. We need batsman who can bat so that we could score 240 in 50 overs; It does not matter whether opposition could score 420 or 840. An ideal JSXI consist of Tamim, Ash, Junaid, Aftab, Raquib, Mushy, Saquib, Riyad, Dollar, Farhad and Alok. Dollar and Farhad would open, Aftab would come at first change, Sakib would be main spinner. Riyad, Ash, Alok would bowl the rest.

At the very beginning of their tenture I did not agree with you. Just because they didn't have time under their belt. But now I agree with you. However, I must say they did a good thing by taking out some of the dead weeds. Habibul Bashar - he had to go, JO - he had to go too but the selector messed up with the replacements. Brought in all three openers too early (SN, JS, Nazim - not an opener). They should have fallen back to Nafis Iqbal who already has intl experience. Pilot - liability for One day game now. Those were the mixed good things.

Another good thing was getting Rakibul in the squad. I didn't agree his early entry but that turned out to be one of the positives.

The bad things were bringing in Mushi back (not giving Dhiman enough chance), Debuting Dolar, JS too early. Letting go of Rasel. Trying to make Farhad as a strike bowler. Experimenting with Sharif, Sajidul, Nazmul, mosharraf. Not giving Enam Jr. a chance in the one day game.

The bad stacks up high over the good.

June 26, 2008, 10:52 AM
yes tiger's right not everything has been bad. it's important to remember that Rakibul was a siddons hunch that has worked. although dhiman didn't get much of a chance I think it was right to bring bak mushy when we did. He's a class act.

Alok's rehabilitation is also interesting. I doubt he'll keep his place once shakib returns. he's not as good a bowler as shakib but he's capable of being a more explosive batsman than him...

Lets keep it real. Rasel's no Vaas. He usually bowls a probing length and can be handy either in sluggish pitches or in seamer friendly conditions. But the wickets in Pakistan are absolutely flat. Rasel would have been taken to the cleaners by the Sehwags, and Jayasuriya's. He for sure merited inclusion as the third or even the second seamer. But his inclusion at best would have had a marginal impact on our overall bowling performance.

I prefer Isshor Chondro Biddashagor. Dismissed twice in 10 innings. Bunny…seriously? But that’s beside the point. I was in no way debating Rasel’s inclusion in the team. But the way everyone is up in arms about Rasel’s absence is a little ridiculous. I know some of the same guys who now remember Rasel as the mighty savior were not too while ago clamoring for his head. Rasel is a steady bowler and also has the uncanny knack of taking key wickets. His record speaks for itself. But I personally felt that Rasel could have done little to contain Jayasuriya and Sangakkara, when they were in such an aggressive mindset. Our bowling combination, with the exception of Dollar is the best we have ever had. Although Shahadat has been serving up rubbish in the last couple of games, he needs to keep playing. Our bowling resources are threadbare, and we need someone who can bowl with hostility and aggression. In the spin department, we finally have some variation.

Don’t forget that in the 3 games Rasel did play in 2008, he has gone wicketless. In his last game against Pakistan, he returned with unflattering figures of 3-0-29-0. But then again he was only returning from injury. He should have played in the Asia Cup. Now that the experiment with the bowling-allrounders has failed spectacularly, I am sure we will return to the specialists.

rajib yeah but i dont think dollar is better better looking than him.. and why should u care about a persons looks?? this is cricket!! not some kinda fashion show where u need good looking ppl!!

...

i like his shyish personality..

Take him out on a date then. He likes to swing it both ways ... ;)

BTW, maybe a goatee will help frame that smile better.

Because Srilanka bribed our selectors. They are afraid that Syed Rasel will take the position of the best left handed pacer at present replacing Vaas.
