Damn, boundaries are so hard to come by.

They were scoring like anything in the first 6 overs, 67/1, but then the collapse started. Some of the shots by SN and Aftab were treat to watch, but like the typical Bangladeshi players they fall apart after a spectacular start.

bdchamp20

I think the balance of the team isn't right. The lower middle-order is too weak. Maybe opening with Aftab and playing SN at 5 or vice versa would be helpful

Kapali and Habibul-two pure jokers in the DW.

After Rubel joined the ICL, whatever support I had for DW has evaporated. Rafique before joining ICL said that he was afraid about BD turning into a Zimbo. Actually it is the seniors who are luring our pipeline players to join ICL and then come up with some cheap talk to justify what they are doing.

DW can go to hell.

Funny that they have taken Rubel hossain in the side but doesn't give the chance to play. These players will slowly turn into dust without chance of playing matches. They won't get any chance to play anywhere except ICL. And their performance in ICL won't allow them to play another season. They are dead as players.

Don't call him Beiman. He has no other alternative but to speak in Hindi because BCB banned him speaking Bangla and English due to the bullying tactics of BCCI. This is BCB's fault. They are the real baiman.

Probably now it's getting clear day by day that these morons lack any kind of self-respects; specially Dhiman.

Those, who had been happy with the ICL saga, please wake up now. DW is probably going to perform so pathetically that any chance of the national team players getting calls from the IPL is going to be almost zero. Those morons are destroying themselves along with our national respects.

If he did it normally without any past allegation then no question would have arisen. But his attitude from the very beginning is very much irritating. So this kinda objection is very normal to arise.

It is different because during the DW innings he spoke in English and to me it was pretty good and understandable. So, obviously he told that girl to take his after match interview in Hindi so that he can impress the Indian people. You may speak in any language you want, but in Dhiman's case it hurt the people for the way he behaved at that time. No offense, but he was looking like an Indian to me. Sorry for the hard words but I had to say it.

Trust me, you wouldn't want to watch it live after having to digest the loss to New Zealand early on. I felt like crap as I was watching Manju, Tapash and co. stray it W-I-D-E and get slapped even when they didn't.

As for the hindi debate, it really doesn't bother me much - professional soccer players do that all the time and a lot of them speak more than two foreign languages too. There's nothing wrong with trying to impress the local crowd, because after all it's their money that puts food on the table for the athletes.

Now if this was Pakistan, I would be offended, because I'm one of those people who cannot, at the back of their minds, dissociate Pakistan with 1952 and 1971. It's not racism - I love their women and their achar and have my share of friends of Pakistani origin - it's just something that you can hardly blame a Bangladeshi for.

Agreed with ATMR post #409 on language.

Looks like Manju and Tapash did the damage. 5 overs, 73 runs from this two. The others did 13 overs 75/4. Obvious culprits.

ATMR and Tehsin bhai. I beg to differ here about professionalism. I am in fact getting sick hearing this word every now and then in regards of ICL.

Cricket is a game played by professionals; but it's played for the fans too. This instance of me in BC as WarWolf is not a professional; he is a fan who likes to cheer about cricket, his country, his country men and his favorite team Bangladesh. The players are getting money because we make them stars. Without us, they are nothing. So they must respect the fans' perspectives.

Cricket is unlike most other games in the sense this game is mainly played as national teams not as international leagues. We all love our country and like to cheer about it. So any move by any player in BD which I may feel would harm the cricket of our country would hurt me and is an offense to me. I really cannot be so much open minded to forgive these kinda moves.

ATMR, the reason for which I cannot forgive some of our ICL players (specially Dhiman, SN, Kapali who really show lack of sense and to me lack of passion for Bangladesh cricket also) has similarity to me with the reason for which you cannot stand our players speaking urdu.

I am against the current board and at the same time I am against this ICL morons. The reason is simple ; they are hurting our cricket.

they didn't do that badly. considering they were 3 men down at least to start the match. bashar, tapash, and monju aren't cricketers of any class, at least not anymore. nazimuddin is questionable, and so is mosharraf.

if they get rid of hablu, tapash, and monju they may win a couple games this season.

In my estimation, Dhaka Warriors won't win more than two games. Tapash B, Bashar, and other non-factors should just retire. Their exclusion from the BD team was based on valid cricketing reasons. Most of them, barring Raffique, are not victims of ageism and political turmoil that rules the board. Bashar in particular should keep his Haba mouth shut till he wins a game or two for the DW.

Who is this fu**muk speaking in hindi?
what a total retard!!

I did raise my eyebrows, both of them infact.

Why do i object?

Well, its not political, but merely personal.

Almost every single indians (and pakistanis alike) i've ever met have a pre-conviced notion that every Bangladeshi understands and speaks hindi. They would not even bother to ask if you understand or not, but they would keep on talking in hindi right from the word go even after finding out you are Bangladeshi.

I find that preconcived notion offensive. I find that "not caring" and looking down mentality.

I've met a lot of other people, who are not sub-continental (which literally means rest of the world), asked me, "Where you from ?"
When i say "Bangladesh",
a cliche next question is, "Where is it?"
Me : "Well, you know India? its a small country next to india. Somewhat in between india and China"
Them: "So, you are not a part of india ?"
Me: "NO! we are NOT a part of india, we are neighbours!"

My whole point is, even after 40 years of our independence, i find it extremely shameful that we are yet to create an identity of our own. We have to associate our name with India to give our identity and the indians think we all speak their language.

And its not their fault, its ours.
We Bangladeshis love to speak hindi every chance we get, putting that notion more into effect.

An example where we still going by their identity?
The curry industry is mostly run by the Bangladeshis, cooking “indian” food. I know our foods are somewhat similar in generic terms, but our food habit are so different from the Indians that we could have created a whole niche market of our own. But what we do? We go by the name of the “indian cuisine” promoting indian culture (food is a big part of a culture), thus losing any chance of our own identity.

Tell me, who eats "beef vindaloo" in Bangladesh?

By the sheer proportionate of Bangladeshis running the “indian” restaurants, we could have easily created our own brand of “cuisine”.

Players are ambassadors. When you go to play in a different country under the banner of your own, you represent the whole country. So when a Bangladeshi player speaks in hindi on the national tv, he only affirms that preconceived notion that yes, those Bongs (indian slang for Bangalees) speaks hindi. We have to talk in their language, but they don’t have to in our.

You ask what about English? Well, English is lingua franca. It’s the common language that has been agreed, set by the western powers offcourse. But still nations like Japanese, French or Germans, Chinese or Russians would speak in their language in mostly international event. You think they cant speak English?

I (as a Bangladeshi) am good to stand on my own. I don’t need some other race/country/language to create my identity. I am not a nobody, I am somebody and there are 150 million like me.

Together, we can be a force to reckon with. That’s simply why they have a team from Bangladesh. Not because they like us, but they see the sizeable lucrative market and they want to make the most of it.

But we can never earn that respect and more so that illusive identity if our players go over there and starts to speak in their language to suck it up. Sucking up can only take you so far. Trust me, you can speak as much hindi as you can mumble out, but if you cant perform, you are gone. India’s got enough good players not to go gaga over some mediocre Bangladeshi only because he speaks hindi. But if you can stand your own ground in the field, you can talk Hebrew and everyone would love you for who you are.

I don’t expect all of you to agree with what I had to say. It’s a personal thing. But
till the day I see we have created that illusive identity of our own, I’ll fight this lone battle.

Nothing makes me more proud than being a Bangladeshi.

Well we can't blame it entirely on Indians and Pakistanis. We have Indian music playing in our weddings all the time and the Indian film industry is huge in Bangladesh. Many Bangladeshis know and willingly speak in Hindi and Urdu when they are among Indians and Pakistanis. Not that there is anything wrong in being able to speak another language or enjoying a foreign culture, but we are as responsible for this kind of stereotypes as our neighbors.

whole thing was great! :notworthy::clap:
and the parts that i quoted is SOO SOO TURE [i dont mean the other parts arnt true, i only quoted that part, cuz i have something to say on those...]
yes indi and paki ppl do that. and some bengali ppl are soo buttkisser, that they would replay in hindi, and put the indians on high in every way they can, as if they owns them or somthing.

the club i play for here, i am the only bengali player in the team, even tho there are so many BD kids around here. but they dont play because they dont like cricket. they plays american sports. but those indians thinks, cuz they suck thats why they dont play.

and every time, they see me will speak in hindi. but i ans in English. and they will be like ans in hindi.... WTF?
and when they see i dont have an accent like they do, they will ask, why DONT i have one. i almost feel like saying...CUZ I M NOT GODDAMN INDIAN!

they except me to watch all the hindi movies on earth. i go dude they are crap! they copy cat all the holly movies. and i will prove em [thanx to imdb :-D] they go "gharme baskay hindi movie dekhta hay...oll da lung"

and for paki dudes...when they found out i m bd...they goes..he is west paki!

wtf!!

but some of those ppl are really good. they are really nice. they respect u. and some of them think they are soo kool just cuz they are indian!!

one way to put down an indian is to not speak back to him in hindi, and STOP BEING A BUTTKISSER!

so i guess thats why u guys were mad cuz Ghosh spoke in hindi...nvm i guess u were rite...i was thinking that u guys were mad cuz he spoke in other language then bangla...
sorry

A very simple solution to all your woes - don't hang out with FOBs. :D

Most of my brown friends were either born or brought up in Canada and are devoid of a lot of the khaishtami so characteristic of people in the subcontinent (including Bangladeshis). Having said that, FOBness is definitely not an excuse for khaishtami - I, for example, am a FOB who boasts of being tolerant of all kinds of people: barring, of course, the ones that inflict pain on themselves or others, e.g. masochists (not the kind that supports the Bangladesh cricket team), pedophiles, etc. There are many more that share the same attitude. You just have to find the right crowd to mingle with.

This is so carbon copy of my experience, the exact same words has been spoken between me and an interviewer, company salesman, postman, office janitor, professor, student, taxi driver, restaurant worker, chef, managers, technologist, professionals you name it. Now a days I use a different strategy. I start my answer with a question, "Do you know about Bangladesh?" then mention Wal Mart and ask them about the garments section. Suddenly they blow up, "Oh yeah, made in Bangladesh". Things get lot easier and stirs a little pride inside as well.

According to ICL official website's team list (http://www.indiancricketleague.in/teams/teams-profile/Dhaka-Warriors.html), our promising fast bowler of Academy team Rubel Hossain has also joined Dhaka Warriors. I checked his birth date and full name and I am sure that this is the Rubel Hossain which we know from Bangladesh A and Academy team. He was also a very important part of the Bangladesh A's recent tour to England. If this is a true news then this will indeed be a sad news for BD cricket if not for the national team. To some of our BC members and reporters he is known as a bright prospect of BD cricket.

That is a blow, he was promising and one of players who has future in national team.
I hope the news is false....

Rabz, I agree to your explanation about our identity.

Personally i did not like players talking in hindi in national tv. as they are not general people like us and it is shown throughout the world and giving wrong impression.

yes, we do listen to lots of hindi songs, watch movie/serials. same goes for Srilankans as well. i have never seen any srilankan player speaking in hindi/urdu in national tv.
